I don't mean this as a trivial question. I am 46, soon to be 47 and in some respects I love being this age. I have stability in my life, job etc., but in the 'gay' community I really dislike it.
I used to go "out" to the clubs here and many other cities but I heard the comment "look at that old guy, what's he doing here" once too often so I no longer bother to go out because on the outside I could pass it off but inside it stung. I no longer support the gay community in my city because of it. I do go to the occasional party being held at someones' home but that is it.
JUB in our profile has "show your age" and by default it is now set to yes. I have left it yes, I have changed it to no, changed it back and forth and now I am stuck. I had put my age out of my mind since deciding years ago not to go to the clubs, now it is back, haunting me.
I came out to my family, friends and people I work/ed with back when I was 17, almost 30 years ago, so I have been around for a while. Coming out is not a factor in my question.
What are your thoughts on your age and being gay?
