2011 JUB Meet - Portland, Oregon - August 5-7

The Red Lion is now $109 a night. They must have heard about the meet. :help:

Okay, If you insist. I will stay with you.

I only snore at night and it usually isn't loud enough to wake me up. :p

I kid.
I have friends I can stay with for free. Would have been nice to stay in the same place with the bar right there.

If all goes as planed I'll be getting my bus ticket the first week of July. Once I have secured my transportation there, then and only then will I look into a hotel, I'll have the money if prices don't see fit to be in my favor, but I would love to stay under 55-65 a night. I'm hoping for some awesome late deals through Priceline. :D

Now, it seems greyhound, great service that they offer, seems to be plagued with the stupid when it comes to scheduling trips on their site. Seems like the ONLY rout they want me to take is one going from MPLS to Denver then to Portland. 2 days and around 4-6 hours. If I go the rout I want to go it would be from MPLS to Seattle then to Portland and that's a day and a half. curse you greyhound!

I do, however, have somewhat of a set back. The Friday after the meet a friend of mine is getting married and I need to be able to afford a suit and to be able to bus in my friend who I am taking as a date to the wedding. If it wasn't for my friends wedding, I would be staying the whole week after. I still might try to stay for the Monday after.

At any rate, chances are getting higher.

^I know you're a student, so your budget is probably tight...

Just for fun I looked up Amtrak from St. Paul to Portland and the cheapest fare they have (as of NOW) was $267 roundtrip -- their in-transit time was 36 hours...

That seems expensive...

I hope that Priceline or Hotwire come up with some REALLY good deals SOON for you!!! ..|

:):):)

It's not that spendy. It could be worse. Besides, I have discount card for greyhound. Will cost me under $200 to travel.

Also, if I have to spend a little more for a hotel, it won't kill me, just means less parts for a computer rebuild.

I bought my guidebook to Portland yesterday and am memorizing it now. :-) But I looked at the schedule of events and I think I might not have even needed to buy it, since it seems we're doing most of the recommended things to do anyway. Plus Silverado.

So I'm not sure what happened to Silverado's but it seems a little more conservative than before.

The old location had the perfect mix of sleaze, allure, fun and opportunities.

New place, not so much....

There MAY be certain nights and times when it "clicks".

Maybe we can check it out together some time? :p

I would love to do that. But yeah, I was there this Saturday and I noticed that some dancers werent taking off their underwears.

Hey guys, been thinking about this meet for a long time now, and unfortunately, I don't think im going to be able to afford it because I definitely can't afford to stay in a hotel by myself, I am also saving for a trip to Spain at the end of August. If anyone knows of a hostel, or a really really cheap hotel, let me know :) otherwise, I don't think im going to be able to make it. Funds are as tight as my virgin asshole right about now....lol

Even if there's no curfew, I'm a little apprehensive of disturbing a lot of people if I come in at 4:20 in the morning. Well, maybe not THAT late...OTOH, the idea of staying in a hostel is appealing. I've never stayed in one before though I've been in B&B several times.

I'm still willing to help somebody split the cost of a room in Portland, ESPECIALLY if that cost saving might make the difference between somebody going or not. You should PM me if interested.

omg your last line in your post made me laugh:badgrin:

It looks like me and Tony (Gamerbear & antdak) won't be able to make it, Tony's work schedule has changed so now he is working from 12pm to 8:30pm on Wednesday through Sunday, so by the time he gets out the party will already be over. :(

This is TERRIBLE news!

I'm hoping he has a change of schedule before August, can take at least one personal day, or can arrange a trade or something.

Nothing has really changed sense the last time I wrote in this thread. It's still around 50-60%. I might be interested in splitting a room for about $30-35 a night, though I still want to find out what I can get from Priceline for naming my own rate.

Also, I realized that August is just a busy month for me. Not only an I going to school, I have the wedding that I'm attending (and paying for my suit and a friend's bus ticket for too), I'm taking a trip back to Eau Claire for another weekend with my friend from Bismark, high chance of moving the last weekend, and to top it off I might be switching carriers for my cellphone service. Though that last one I might end up waiting for.

Now, if I come, how much money should I set aside for food and trinkets? I was thinking about $150 would do, should I plan more?
