American Idol: Season 10

Well thanks for your concern my darling, but I am not OK. I'm a little distraught actually.

I feel for you. I know I'd be heartbroken if Glee doesn't make Darren Criss a series regular next year. (*8*)

What did you think of James hugging Stefano at the end? I think their bromance is sincere and adorable.

The thing that bothers me about anybody who decides to ruin dreams is just that it is a wicked format and I don't support it no matter who, what, when, where. It is just a mean spirited thing to do IMHO. Certainly the inner imp kind of rejoices when someone you don't like gets the axe but I wouldn't want to be part of dream killing. VFTW is that. Ever been in a spot where someone steps on your heart?

I don't think of VFTW as doing that at all. Ruining dreams implies that AI's format lets viewers vote singers OFF the show and we're all ganging up to power vote boring glory note singers like Pia out. VFTW genuinely likes quirky, entertaining trainwreck singers that normally aren't pimped by the show, so we vote for them to try to keep them around longer. It's making light out of something that fans take so seriously. At the end of the day, the format of the show ruins dreams a lot more than VFTW, since only one person can win.

I mean, this season, Paul was never going to win. And despite the fan outrage, Pia was not either. So no harm no foul really. Both are gone now, and Pia's already got her recording contract because the producers were sooo in love with her. That's another thing - if Idol wants to push somebody, it doesn't really matter if the person "won" or not. The people in charge of Idol pretty much pushed aside Taylor Hicks and Kris Allen to focus on their chosen ones, Daughtry and Adam Lambert.

And Jennifer Hudson is the shining example that you don't need to win, nor do you need Idol's backing, to have a successful career if you truly have the talent. Idol really didn't care about Jennifer back in season 3, especially compared to Latoya London and Fantasia, despite the show recently trying to claim her as some awesome talent that they discovered. She made it on her own more or less.

In a perfect world they would get rid of Kurt and have Blaine replace him entirely so he can have a bf who is equally hot. But that will never happen since Kurt undeservedly won a Golden Globe.

I'm not the hugest James fan. But it was cute how they seemed to not ever want to let go of each other. Tbh even as a gay, I thought that hug lasted a little long. Jennifer could barely get her hug in.

Also, it's not like teen girls power-texting aren't "ruining dreams" also merely by voting for who they want to fuck most. Sometimes VFTW picks are actually better than the actual winners/producers' pets.

Preach! I find Chris Colfer incredibly overrated. But anyway this is an AI thread, so I'll just say that I wish we had seen more of the James/Stefano bromance. :D

Idol didn't push Taylor Hicks and Kris Allen aside, the people who voted for them did.

Fact is, VFTW supported Taylor but they aren't going out to buy his music. Not all of them, anyway. Nobody cares. Same with Kris Allen. His winning was the best thing that could have happened because it meant Adam Lambert wasn't tied to Idol's label and Idol's specifications. He can do what he wants.

Look at Fantasia. She won, she got idol's label, but the one thing I don't see is her putting out a bunch of albums. I said way back then her voice needed more work, and she's gone in the right direction in that aspect. Jennifer Hudson was and is an amazing singer. That she was voted off so early was a stupid mistake, but it didn't stop her.

VFTW picks someone who is basically bad, and determines they better deserve to win. Talent means NOTHING and is ACTUALLY a detriment where VFTW is concerned. That is my problem. They dedicate so much time because they've nothing better to do than piss people off and knock talented singers out. You ask why they dedicate so much to a show they don't like, and they claim to like it. Then they yell "VFTW VICTORY!" because Casey knocks out Stefano. As IF Casey needed help this week.

The earlier in the top 12, the less likely the voted off will get consideration.

That's why losing Naima early worries me. She's talented, but going so soon hurts her because that talent just flew over so many heads.

Personally, the show needs to die after this season. The judges are COMPLETE idiots more than ever, which is a serious accomplishment. Without Simon, no one has any respect for these performers because they refuse to tell them how they can improve.

Just look back to where Jennifer Lopez said they were too good to critique. MMhmm. The worst set in Idol history is too good to critique.

As for Idol Gives Back, I doubt will see it. After last season they've got too many problems to do it again. I mean, they still could, but with no advertising for it by now I doubt it will happen.

WHAT is Jacob wearing?

I forgot everything else I saw from the show start when the light came on for him.

Is he auditioning for Glee or something?

Jacob actually sounded good this week, but it's an indication of how much I don't like him that I still want him gone this week. And god, those faces he makes while singing? Yech! He'll never be a great performer. I can barely watch him.

And Jacob dramas through another song complete with background choir to upsing him. He had moments, but the whole song and dance was awful.

Steven thinks it was beautiful - my eyes and ears disagree.

Jennifer thinks there were spaces here and there where it wasn't perfect - my ears and eyes find it to be reverse, though definitely never perfect.

Randy thinks Jacob can sing and is there because he is a great singer - my ears disagree again.

Miley Cyrus shows up for Lauren...probably to tell her backstage not to sing anymore of her songs. Afraid of an Idol contestant showing her up - too late for that!

Lauren follows what works and also works the crowd. Though there is a problem with her blonde backup singers that twice are so loud no one can hear Lauren.

Not going to wait on this - judges love her.

Lauren of course is only mediocre but they act like she had a breakthrough. Ugh. Haley's next. Watch her out-sing the rest of them and the judges will still be like, "Meh." They want her out this week.

They handed Haley great songs on a silver platter. This should be a grand week for her.

Her problem has always been consistency and missing perfect opportunities. That needs to end tonight.

Too often she doesn't really go for it, settling for what she think will get her through instead of what will make her shine. Be it song choice or style of singing choice.

That was nice...until Casey joined in.

And then it just completely went to pieces. What a mess that turned out to be.

The judges are going to act like it was amazing, but it was a wreck. Just two people performing on the same stage.

Watching Survivor, will join in at the end of the hour.

There's six people left, though, are they performing twice per show yet?

Scotty has to pick something outside his comfort zone...and picks well. He steps outside what he knows well and finds something.

He isn't doing the bizarre flute-like hand positions, and he isn't leaning all over the place.

First time I've ever really liked a Scotty performance. Wow. That was well done and at the perfect time.

He is so winning this shit.

I can't comment on James. We've got tornado(es) on the ground in the state so they've cut into the broadcast to cover it.

I wonder if Randy realizes Jacob is the only one he hasn't said is going to win it/in it to win it.
