American Idol: Season 10

For all their amazement about Pia (and their indirect cruelty to Stefano. the judges were probably harder on her than anyone else--some of whom deserved it.

Stefano was saved by the longing gaze into the camera with the long, lingering note at the end.

As for the idiot who butchered one of the great love songs of all time tonight, fie on him, ah fie.

But oh the joy of seeing the pompous, self-righteous, self-admiring jackass who sings every song with "Can they see how good I am?" look in his eye and whose often pitchless, always soulless delivery in the bottom three. Too bad climax was delayed so he can go off and start his own church and make thousands till the sex scandals break.

Yeah I just watched the elimanation video and the judges realized they used the save way too soon.

Of the 3 Jacob should've went especially for his stupid comment that he made, getting Cocky doesn't make people like you more, It makes people start to dislike you.

Wow the look on Stefano's face when Ryan annouced it was Pia was sad I mean as much as I love him, I thought Pia would've gone a lot farther and if I had watched it when it was on I would've been shocked it wasn't him, but stilll happy he hasn't left yet.

I just really think Paul needs to go next, I haven't enjoyed a single performance of his and I've tried but he does nothing for me

It's not that Pia was so great she HAD to win -- some of the points Karen Walker raised I agree with even though I like Pia -- but it's that she got booted before Paul and Jacob (who everyone knows sucks), Scotty, Casey and Lauren (who everyone pretends is good but they suck) and yes even Stefano (who hasn't been good in weeks). That's the insult.

I actually agree with you completely.

It didn't get as much attention as her first two performances, but this to me was Pia's best. Her vocals, interpretation, and notes are excellent on it, especially for a live performance on a dog and pony show:

Yes folks. That got eliminated before a pig, a cowpoke, a seal, and two homeless dudes.

That shit Stefano is still there and Pia went home?! #-o

Her doing a fast song could be part of it, maybe people felt it was raunchy, maybe they refuse to hear her sing anything but ballads. Her votes could've gone to James since he gave her fans what she didn't that night.

I agree that she had the biggest range of the people you named, but they're probably still here because, whether successfully or not, they took chances with some faster-paced songs and they switched things up, different arrangements every week. This isn't American Range, it's American Idol. People are looking for more than big finishing notes, they want character. She hid behind her microphone.

I just listened to the All in Love video and realized I was even more right than I thought. Not only is she robotic, she's repetitive. Slow build- ballsy refrain with sustained note, absolutely NO RIFFING, a few more quick belts, take it up a key then end with another sustained belt. She literally gave the same performance every week, just with different words. Even the arrangements were similar. I believe this was her demise, the audience grew bored with her. Other than Thia I can't think of a single contestant, ever, who performed as many ballads as she did, least of all without at least morphing the song into something different or new.

I'm really starting to believe that America is racist and sexist.

I don't think sexism has anything to do with it. It's just that, ever since around season seven, the vast majority of American Idol's voters are either preteen girls or middle-aged housewives, and they vote for the ones whom they find attractive, rather than anything based on talent. Crystal losing to Lee last year was the perfect example since one was so obviously far ahead of the other on the talent scale. And this year Stefano is the perfect example, as the tweens are obviously voting for him as the only conventionally cute guy.

I can sort of see the racist claims because for the last several seasons, minorities have not done well on this show, probably as another reflection of most of Idol's voters being white. But last night's top three wasn't really an indication of it IMO. Jacob got the spot of death and turned people off with his mirror comment. And I saw someone else mention Pia and Stefano. They aren't even minorities... they're Italian. Are Madonna and Lady Gaga suddenly not white?

Pia may had a great voice...but it is something we all have heard before. She has no personality, and if I heard a song of hers on the radio I would change the station. She never brought anything really unique to the table. It was kind of like watching an Miss USA pagent everytime she got on stage.

I agree, this show needs to end after this season. I am finding myself fast forwarding through a lot of songs.

I came home late last night and looked at an article on yahoo's site to see who got the boot. Reading comments that the majority of those posters were leaving really made me laugh and shake my head at the insanity of it all. They were actually pissed and upset that some singer on a show got cut...threatening to never watch again, start petitions, write to Fox, claiming racism, etc...really, I mean really! It's time for a reality check! The show has been total BS for so long now and people still take it all way too seriously. I have to laugh at how deeply people get sucked into this...as if it really matters in their own lives.

Also...I wonder how many people complaining about Pia getting the boot actually voted for her? If all those people truly loved and supported her like they claim...she'd still be there.

I do watch the show but don't vote. If I did though, I'd be a worster since the real entertainment from this show is seeing the public's reactions to crazy controversies like this. Besides...Paul McDonald makes me laugh (at him) when when he performs...most of the others make me cringe. Sorry to all you "true" fans... :p

I watch and listen but have not voted this season. I just don't see a star at all. I love Stefano and I think he does sng very nicely, can carry a tune all the way through and has some stage presence.

Lusk just makes me ill with all that pompous piety. "If I am in the bottom three it means America did not look in the mirror." That riled the shit out of me and especially since he looked right into the camera and said it. Good on Ryan for reminding the puff. And he does think by going high, higher, highest that it makes for a great performance. Maybe for these judges but I am home and he goes off so many times. It is unbearable to listen to.

Paul McDonald, how the hell did he get there? He is so mediocre and lifeless and strange in his vocal tone and his movements.

But Pia going home doesn't prove anything about anyone. The system for voting on these shows is so fucked up. You can vote how many times by phone, by text and by computer? What happens if they get one vote per? Then Ryan can't go on the show and say 31 mil votes came in. How many votes actually do come in by how many people?

It was harder to watch Stefano as the audience was screaming "No!" along with Randy waving his arms and Jennifer with her head down and all the ranting about how this could happen. They should have left Lusk there and sent Stefano to the seats first so that Lusk could have felt all the anger at Pia going and him staying.

The save was the save and you can't go crazy because there was a save. There were years when there wasn't a save and better people than Pia were voted off, better people than this whole lot of wannabees. I am not feeling the pain for Pia, but I do feel the pain for Stefano because he had to endure that circus last night.

And there are cry babies who desert a show because it doesn't go the way they want and I feel that, too because I do that myself. But this show is a slippery slope for everyone.

Rock and Roll night was not R&R at all. Lusk decides he isn't going to be a part of it and goes with a non rock song as did several others. The producers giving advice are clueless.

Haley's reaction to Jacob being safe. I love this bitch. Please be the last girl standing against all odds. Even though you'll go out at 7th place anyway on Amaleican Idol.

Truthfully, the inconsistency is a problem for any contestant trying to do better.

Naima switched things up and was always willing to try something different. However, the week after the save it didn't work so well so she was sent packing with Thia.

The judges really can't make up their damn minds.

They told Pia to switch it up week after week.

Meanwhile, they tell Scotty to stick with his one trick.

And still, they obsessively praise even the worst performances.

Why Jacob didn't go home is beyond me. That disgustingly arrogant comment should have been the end of him. It's not like he's got some great talent worth keeping.

Hell, none of them really do.

If Stefano actually has a good voice, he might want to pull it out just in case the voters decide they do want talent.

James seems to want to be his own original mix of Adam Lambert...and he's not very good at it.

Scotty does the same voice and the same weird lean sing thing every week. This week was complete with staged group of mobbing girls.

Haley has talent, but she's a real hit or miss. I've said if there is a dark horse this time, it is her.

Casey is Casey. He growls and looks constipated and the judges orgasm over him no matter how bad he is.

Paul I don't get. I don't know what the hell he is still doing here.

Laruen is Lauren. Most polarizing contestant this time around. Everyone I see either loves her or hates her.

Jacob is a black church queen and they act like they've discovered something with him. Go to any black church choir and you'll probably find another. He's arrogant and lacks the talent to back it.

Meanwhile, the judges don't know what the hell they are doing. They orgasmed over Casey's use of the bass, for which I wanted to bash Randy's skull in. Don't insult classically trained musicians, we tend to get a little pissed off and instrument strings are pretty good choking devices.

Whoever wins this season, they'll probably do even worse than last season's winner.

Well, maybe not Scotty. His base is rather big, though I really don't get why.

Overall, this needs to be the end of the show. They promised big changes and haven't dont shit. Well, unless you count that the judges are worse than ever, completely incapably of true criticism.

No, the show is way past due and needs to die.

Haley's reaction to Jacob being safe. I love this bitch. Please be the last girl standing against all odds. Even though you'll go out at 7th place anyway on Amaleican Idol.

Haley knows what's up no matter which pronouns Jacob uses when he sings.

But I'm glad all these gay singers are cowards, when I put my music out I'll be able to say I'm one of the first who isn't too shy to say "he" in a love song. Well, hate song, I don't do love songs. ](*,)

But this is just further proof that Haley has more flavor than all the other contestants combined. That long hair is sooo luxurious. She deserves a snap herself.

The general confusion around Paul can be solved with two words. David Gray. He seems to capture (or at least attempt) that sorta quirky, new-age euro-synth-pop-tech sound that I imagine Gray fans appreciate. As weak as his voice is, his delivery is at least a minor shift from the typical silky-voiced crooner types like Stefalapalo Lagangalo.

And this year Stefano is the perfect example, as the tweens are obviously voting for him as the only conventionally cute guy.

Pia and Stefano are both only part Italian I think. they dont even look white. Pia clearly has brown skin and Stefano looks more latino. Even if they were, for a long time in this country Italians were considered ethnic minorities. And they are definitely more exotic than all the people that were instantly safe. Stefano is not conventionally cute. If you go to other sites Scotty and Paul are considered the "cute" ones to most of "America". Stefano is getting by by the skin of his teeth.

I watch and listen but have not voted this season. I just don't see a star at all. I love Stefano and I think he does sng very nicely, can carry a tune all the way through and has some stage presence.

I mentioned this before. As much as I love Stefano. I would rather him go b/c he is constantly being degraded and put in the bottom 3 then 2. I think at this point he even wants to go b/c he's so broken down.

I don't even know wtf that mirror bullshit means. Sit ur ass down Jacob

Didn't we see Pia and Stefano's parents in one of the episodes? I can't remember what they looked like though... (EDIT: after trying to dig for info about Pia's family, the only thing I keep seeing is "Italian" and how she's from an "old school Italian family." I dunno.)

I always hear the little girls in the audience squeal for Stefano, so I figured he was the tween fave this season.

Her doing a fast song could be part of it, maybe people felt it was raunchy, maybe they refuse to hear her sing anything but ballads. Her votes could've gone to James since he gave her fans what she didn't that night.

I think the public automatically assumed that everbody's gonna vote for Pia.

Also... the only judge that has the right to get upset with the results is Randy because he seems to be the only one giving "criticisms".

Jennifer, bitch don't be crying when all keep giving everybody praises. What these judges need to be is give the ones that they want to go home tough criticisms so the public will actually have an idea of contestants standing in the game. This is why I miss Kara and Simon, when they think you suck, they'll let you know.

^I thought Jennifer had been criticizing Pia consistently, ie more than once. Several weeks in a row her praise for Pia would be rounded off with "I wanna see you take it to the next level. I wanna see you move. You've gotta stop standing in front of the mic." In fact some of her comments towards Pia were downright shady, I guess some people didn't catch it cuz she said it with a smile.

And yeah, your "assuming she was safe" theory makes more sense than my jumping ship thing. But I thought it was a clever angle at least-- there certainly is a portion of America that refuses to listen to anything that isn't a love ballad.

I don't know what was worse- watching Constantin murder a perfectly iconic song or Iggy pop convulsing and going into a seizure onstage.

I guess my dream finale of Lauren vs. Pia isn't going to happen anytime soon. Worse- I have a feeling we're going to see Scotty there...
