I'm really looking forward to Chris and Melinda's performances...I love those songs. And who knows what the hell Lakisha was thinking.

If you go to the VFTW site, they even have the judges reactions. Because it was all taped last night someone gave a capsule report on the whole show on their website.

Tonight was a pretty good night vocally, with several of the songs dripping with cheese. But hey, what do you expect out of "inspirational" songs.

Chris was up first, and it was great. I absolutely love that song and it was perfect for him. The whole "nasally" thing wasn't an issue at all this week, he sounded great. Going first is never beneficial though....hope he can stay out of the bottom 3.

Melinda once again did great. She's pretty much hit her peak, but luckily for her, her peak is fucking incredible. Beautiful song too.

Blake was just ok for me dawg. He had really good emotion, but the song is just so steady and simple, and there is no beating the original. It came out kinda boring.

Lakisha, I just have no idea what she was thinking. You just don't do previous idol's songs, it never works. People will always like the original's the most, that's why they won American Idol. She got away with it last week, but she went and did it again. Granted, there were some good parts, but then she starting yelling again. She might be going home tomorrow.

Phil has a really good voice, but for me it just seems artificial. I really want to like the guy, but I just can't. There is nothing special about him and his singing makes me think I'm sitting in church. To me he has been consistent, but his votes haven't. He could be in the top tomorrow, or could be going home (probably the latter)

Jordin ended the show tonight. I really like this girl, and because I like her so much, I think I over analyze and criticize her performances. She did great though, just a little too many glory notes for me. She has pretty much set herself up for the finale.

Top 3: Jordin, Melinda, Blake/Chris
Bot 3: Lakisha, Phil, Blake/Chris

Melinda and Jordin were the best IMO. I don't care for Chris or Phil, but they were both good tonight. I've never followed Fantasia, so I thought Lakisha did very well (and I have to admit I like belters.) Blake sang well and I like him, but it was boring. (Though I'm not sure what he could have done to make Imagine his own. Maybe it was just a poor song choice.)

I'm beginning to agree with this idea. Melinda is by far the better singer (IMO), but Jordin has more youth appeal and is more marketable than Melinda.

Well, this week was a complete dud! For inspiration week there sure wasn't any inspiration going on! I thought the performances were all pretty much dull and boring.

Chris: I'm starting to be annoyed by his voice. It's always the same sound, and Simon is right, he's too tinny and nasal. Very one dimensional voice.

Melinda: She does best when she keeps it in a certain range, but she tends to get goaty like Lakisha if she belts too high. I love her, but I hated this performance.

Phil: His voice is driving me crazy. It sounds like he's constipated or something when he sings lately. I didn't like this one.

Blake: He sounds the same on every song he sings. This performance was completely dull and lifeless.

Lakisha: Why does she keep singing other Idol's songs? Two weeks in a row now, and she's done a much poor job at singing their songs, which is making her look worse. She can't belt too much because her vibrato is much too strong, and she sounds way out of control when she sings too high. Pick better songs, and stay away from Idol songs!

Jordin: She's amazing, and man can she belt! She is surely going to be in the top 2. Her and Melinda I think. Loved this performance.

Next week better get a hell of a lot better, because this week was BLAH!

Melinda, Jordin and Blake were my top three tonight. I'd be happy seeing any of these three win. I'm falling for Jordin, but Melinda has been flawless all along, so either of these ladies could take the title and it would be well-deserved. Love Blake, but once it gets down to these three (if it does), then third place would not be so bad.

Bottom order for me, best to worst, were Phil, Chris and Lakisha. Was so hoping she could pull it off and get back in the game, but her screaming has just overtaken her singing. I've liked Chris all along, but I've grown tired of him--he seems very one note to me now (okay, two--nasal or non-nasal). While I still don't care for Phil, he's at least showing some versatility, and as Simon said tonight, if he can blend the two things he does best, he has a shot vocally (but personality-wise he still seems flat).

Something about seeing Seacrest bringing a bowl of food over to some starving kids, setting it on the table and saying, "OK, here's some more"
was just disturbing on SO many levels....

Ryan pays more for one of his haircuts than these poor children will see in their lifetimes...

Meanwhile, we have Simon absolutely astonished that poverty exists right here in America. (He had NO idea ! )

Chris....i thought did a good job with this song....i've always liked him...I dl'ed his studio performance from last week and it was great.

Melinda....can't say bad things about her...she's great...but i don't think she's gonna win....Second place for sure though

Blake....I've hated him from the beginning....every performance sounds exactly the same...he has no range what-so-ever....boring boring boring

Lakisha...she's getting worse and worse as the weeks go on...I really see her going out this week

Phil....he did great last week...this week was just aaaaaiiiiiight for me dawg...he sounded a lot like Clay Aiken this week....anyone else think so?

Jordin....WINNNER!!!!!! I love this girl....she really is the Kelly Clarkson of this season....kinda started out under the radar but week after week just gets better and better and tonight she just blew it out of the water...i mean come on a standing O in the middle of the song...and Randy saying it was the best performance in all 6 seasons!

Bottom 3... Lakisha, Blake, Phil

going home....I'm gonna have to say Lakisha...i mean Bottom 2 last week....and not really a strong performance this week...i'd say it's her time to go

Yea, that whole thing bothers me. The film of the trips to Africa with the piano music in the background, the corporate sponsers getting their names out front, the scenes Joshua described above.

And exactly what is Idol giving back? It seems its the viewers and some corporations doing all of the contributing.

I suppose if someone benefits then it doesn't matter. These kind of things just bother me when they're so syrupy and sweet and loaded with self interest.

Someone mentioned awhile ago that Lakisha's tongue is too big for her mouth...so I had to check it out and...they were sooo right! I was mesmerized by its enormity watching her sing last night. I couldn't take my eyes off it. She got to go...and so does Phil (aka Nosferatu )!

I've been so impressed with Jordon recently that I'm now officially routing for her over Blake. Blake was a real snore last night...talented...but just blah lately. Chris...cute as usual.

Dialidol has Melinda in the bottom two with Chris on the bottom (Mmmm...bottom). Dialidol was dead right last week. Seacrest called their names in the same order Dialidol listed them. But I think it gets screwed up when they go to two lines for each contestant. And Dialidol has no way to measure text votes, which Chris would get a lot of, I imagine.

I'm glad they're doing the whole Idol Gives Back thing, but to me it's just funny seeing 4 multi-millionaires (Ryan, Randy, Paula & definitely Simon) asking US to give money for the cause. I wonder how much any of them have given???

Their intentions seem good, so I'm not hating or anything......

DialIdol was right last week but in the previous weeks its been totally wrong so keep that in mind.

LaKisha made another horrid song choice this week and is gonna finish two spots higher than Mandisa did last year making the exact same mistakes.

I think Jordin could actually beat Melinda in the finale.

Ok i get that AI is doing a wonderful thing with Idol gives back but i can't help but think that the producers are only doing it so that they can get the reality series Emmy on September 16th.

I got goosebumps and watching and lsitenning to the African children's choir, i was just so moved to give back.

Their voices were so angelic.


Lakeisha needs to go home after how she butchered Fantasia's, signature song.

She was wrong to think she could even come close to Fantasia.

Kelly C can sing even though she cracked.

The only thing shocking would be if 2 people were sent home tonight. So i don't know what Ryan keeps talking about.

Elvis & Celine WOW, absolutely incredible.
