Isn't she always? Why is this news? I remember during the AI2 finale, her high ass was up on stage congratulating Ruben and Clay while the credits were rolling, and she lost her footing and began to fall -- Seacrest and others tried their best to cover it up before they went to commercial... but I caught it!

Did anyone else hear her lame-ass explanation on the Tonight Show last night when Jay Leno asked her about the current internet controversy surrounding her??

Paula said that they stuck her in a room with one camera on her, with like 10 different news stations questioning her at once. So she was giving the wrong answers to different news stations & thats was what made her appear jumpy & unfocused...UM YEAH RIGHT PAULA...

Today was the first friggin show of the season... Give the show a break!!! lol. And sorry I don't agree about fantasia... Jennifer Hudson ring a bell? One thing I will say though...the best singers on this show never win. lol

Yes, some of the performances are staged. You have to go through several layers before you get to see Simon, Paula, and Randy. They dont personally audition all 100,000 people who try out! I do firmly believe those people think they have talent. They are put on the show for the comic value. I do find it amusing, and find the meltdown they have even more amusing. The show, is still good though. For 5 years, the ratings have been solid, a trend I don't think will be going away anytime soon.

And the Idol winners not having any real talent? WHAT?? are you serious? Several winners and runner-ups have had extremely successful careers. They can also SING! Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, both amazing voices. Last year Katheren McPhee moved people when she sang Over The Rainbow.

Yes, tonight wasn't great, but, the first couple shows are always full of the sucky people.

I will agree that tonight's season opener was pretty weak. If you think that the whole thing is 'tired' for the viewing audience, imagine how it must be for the production crews. Still, I think the end product is a good show that people enjoy and some, a very select some, lucky people get a chance at doing something they think they want to do with their lives. You don't have to watch it, but when everyone else is, you can't just ignore it.

I agree the first show was weak. Only one truly good singer and the duds were just not as good as past years. Hopefully show 2 will be better. I think they are going to Seattle and I heard the auditions were really bad there.

I watch the first couple of ones just for the laugh factor. I then tune out for about a month until they get down to the final 12 or so. I'll watch it once they get down to a reasonable number.

I've always just watched the first few episodes during which you get to see/hear the bad auditions. I've never watched the rest.
