Re: Who was the worst person on Americal Idol in Seattle?

I felt sorry for the guy who sang fuel's bad day. He's such a cutie. The poor guy even sang abba's to impress the judges...can't remember his name though

American Idol:What The Hell Were They Smolking,Paula's Stash?

Well, give it your all and be obviously a couple of the most consistent, talented and hardest working singers in the Hollywood first round, and where does that get you?Unceremoniously and jaw droppingly sent home,as Marisa and Tommy, found themselves, head and shoulders better this week than Antonella and Sundance. How seriously are we supposed to take the decisions seriously when the two who got through are borderline at best and the two dumped did everything right, showed tremendous professionalism and talent.I say make the top 12 the hardest to decide with the most talented singers all in the running...make it wrenching and incredibly tough ,making the competition so much more intense and interesting.well, there may be often a lot of sense to the bluntness and harsh reality checks given by the judges, especially Simon Cowell...but they screwed up royally with this indefensible rewarding of mediocrity over major star level talent.

Re: American Idol:What The Hell Were They Smolking,Paula's Stash?

I didnt pay much attention to the girls but picking Sundance over Tommy was just a slap in the face. You could tell that even Sundance felt he wasnt going to make it. I hate this part of the show. Hopefully the competition amongst those who were picked will be good. Although every year there is one person who hangs on week after week that makes me wonder if the people who vote are tone deaf. I wish there was a way to make the voting more then a popularity contest.

Re: American Idol:What The Hell Were They Smolking,Paula's Stash?

Not always my choices but hey they have widdle the group down to 24 . Some just were not up to it . Remember we didn't see them all in Hollywood . We will now see How well they do in the spotlight . Getting to 24 from almost 100,000 tryouts I couldn't do it .

Re: American Idol:What The Hell Were They Smolking,Paula's Stash?

It was shocking, but it you look at this from a producers prospective and trying to do a "TV show".. They made the correct decision.

When they pick these top 24, they are not only looking for talent, but who will come off of TV well. And can present a good story.

Remember this is a TV SHOW, so you need a good story for people to follow. And I think the top 24 all have potential to provide a great story. That's what the producers/judges are looking for...

Re: American Idol:What The Hell Were They Smolking,Paula's Stash?

Hopefully VFTW won't be back to encourage voting for the weakest link. Four of my favs from the prelims made it to Top 24 so it will be worth watching for me.

But a popularity contest is EXACTLY WHAT IT IS. What else did you think it was?

Anyway, since gorgeous, talented Brandon made it through, I'm happy. He's my pick to go all the way.

But I was sad that gogeous Jenry was eliminated. However, he's admitted in interviews that he totally choked during Hollywood Week and completely screwed up. He agreed that they were right to eliminate him.

As for the girls --- what girls?

Exactly, they're picking personalities moreso than perfect voices.

Every year several people find their way to the top 12 that you couldn't go through a thousand scenarios to justify but they even can hang on late into the contest...They all talk about looking for the best singers,so now what the hell are Tommy and Marisa to think about working hard, learning all your lines, and being the best? They better get a pass next year, because they were everything the whole week they were required to be from from what was shown and discussed.I don't care about good stories to tell if they ain't got a hill of beans chance to get into the finals on talent....like I said,if everyone was good, the tension and rooting interest would be incredible. What's wrong with no favorites being safe because each one has the goods to win...give it a refreshing twist this year than the inevitable Simon talking about how appalling a perfomance was and Randy saying how pitchy it went or how he's not feeling it,or even the damning coming out of Paula's mouth "It wasn't your best performance"!

The ratings don't represent your point of view. That's why the formula will never change. They are booking a TV first and foremost.. it has to be entertaining and it will need some great stories mixed with singing to keep those ratings coming.

If its just a "talent show" with no great stories and personalties, no one will tune in...

They don't at face value, but there are a lot of people who find AI in a formulaic rut.Good stories are one thing, but wouldn't it be to their advantage, something that can keep them consistently fresh and interesting,if they really gave us the best 24?The tension and competitiveness would be unrelenting, and the results could play out in any number of ways. They want to succeed in making AI a safe relic, keep doing the same tiresome stuff they do every year.Until the ratings flatten, maybe we deserve what we get, commercial cheese and mediocrity with the occasional good show and memorable performance.

Re: AMERICAN IDOL 6 Thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yay! I can't wait to dish about the guys' performances and, of course, the drama. I'm so glad Idol's back! (!)

Re: AMERICAN IDOL 6 Thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yay.....can't wait to download it...

Re: AMERICAN IDOL 6 Thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't recommend voting for Chris Sligh. I heard in other message boards that he graduated from Bob Jones University. It's one of the most religious schools in the country and it's famous for their intollerance and prejudice at that school. The school teaches homosexuality as being wrong and as a sin. Anyone who would choose to go to college there is questionable in my book.

Who ever wins American Idol will be a romodel for little kids and get lots of publicity. The last thing we need is someone famous being interviewed a thousand times, preaching homosexuality is a sin. American Idol is the most watched show in America, that would put a bad image if a homophobe won. People would think, if most Americans who voted, voted for some one homophobic, does that mean most Americans support homophobia and think being gay is wrong?

Thanks surge for the information...

I love the show and NOW I already have my "least" favorite:D :D :D

Re: AMERICAN IDOL 6 Thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I only watched last year because everyone was so damn picture perfect and I'm shallow when it comes to reality television and AI. But this year....two MAYBE three hot guys don't cut it.

And yet, I rant while I watch AI at the same time. I can be so lame sometimes, lol.

How sickening. You support Davis from the Real World after he uses the N word. Then you tell us not to vote for an Idol contestant because he "might" be prejudice because of the school he graduated from. Something's wrong.

Reject prejudice in all it's forms, just not when it applies to you or your group.

Re: AMERICAN IDOL 6 Thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well..Chris has a great voice! But he has such a horrible attitude!

Re: AMERICAN IDOL 6 Thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Attitude and alma mater aside, he's talented. I like him.

Him, the beatboxer, and Sunjaya are my fave guys.

Re: AMERICAN IDOL 6 Thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blake Lewis is hot and I think he's got a good voice. Seattle represent!!!

Re: AMERICAN IDOL 6 Thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you.

But when did this guy ever say anything remotely homophobic? He went to Bob Jones University, but that doesn't necessarily make him a homophobe. Let him say something or do something before you judge him. That's like indicting all southerners for be racists...

Hypocrisy in it's simplest form there Surge. You know it and I know it, so you're throwing a hissy fit (and I'm the queen  ).

Back to the show,

Oh, and the judges tonight were so hard on the Indian kid and Sundance.

Are they meaner this year or what.
