I have to say, even for a "fake" Versace show, it's been the best, traditional runway in a long time (I think Cycle 5 and 1-2). The runways in Thailand and South Africa were OK, but why can't they be linear? No more gimmicks. This almost makes up for the stupid cave in cycle 7.
And I didn't really like the C3 Noriko Fukushima runway. You can't show off your walk if you're walking that slow.
that's true. i really disliked that fashion show in tokyo, but i think that was actually noriko's call.
if tyrant and co had planned the show, you know they would've given them chopsticks for shoes and a mound of rice to walk over.
and i'm sure tyrant would've wanted a runway that would've showcased eva's fierce walk a little better - just to solidify her win.
so i think the C3 show was the last REAL runway show put on by an actual designer.
starting C4, i think they just started to put these shows on SPECIFICALLY for ANTM, and then afterwards, they'd find a few good designers (who'd probably benefit from the publicity) to give them some clothes for the show.
hence the really weird runways and the really weird themes (C4 over water - although i liked that effect, C5 - with that shakespeare shit in the background, C6 - thai temples, C7 - in a cave, C8 - "evolution", etc)
C2 was pretty kickass since it was a big designer (DSquared) in Milan, huge fashion-capital - possibly during fashion week.
but you're right - this was the most credible runway show they've had in a while. but clearly, how they dressed the models reeked of sabotage: anya got the tight narrow dresses, whitney got the flowy, sexy dresses.
but honestly - the "versace" runway show on ANTM is nothing compared to a REAL versace show.
here's a real versace show for their men's ss08 collection (featuring my favorite male model):

the scope and magnitude of a real versace show is on a scale that antm could never replicate.
