Another religious hypocrite - wow what a shock. Religion is a business, and the good pastor was giving his flock just what they wanted: A crusade against the gays. And I'd bet alot of them wished that the young men would "just keep their mouths shut.

What they really hate is honesty, not our sexuality. They don't mind the sin so much as long as everyone shows up sunday morning and sing some hymns and condemn that evil gay marriage.

he definitely spoke well in his sermon.

i look at it this way. i don't know anything about this guy other than what i've heard in the past few days - i've never heard of him before.

he may be more innocent than what the press is currently making him out to be, but in reality, usually the truth between two differing stories lies somewhere in the middle - and even if what is being said about him is only partially true - that's still way overstepping the boundaries of what's appropriate between a respected member of the community and the people who he's close to.

it's pretty clear he's engaged in some inappropriate behaviour. it'll be interesting to see exactly how inappropriate it was over the course of the litigation.

^ All organized religion is a crock - originally designed to keep the poor from killing the wealthy - but this is even more annoying than usual. This seems to border on idol worship - and most likely a false idol at that. Doesn't the Christian faith call that a "no no" ? The best I can say about this is that it's a great, and profitable exercise in crowd control and mass delusion. Praise the Lord and pass that collection plate. My thoughts on this whole issue with Pastor Eddie Long is....innocent until proven guilty. But no matter what faith or religion you are in where God is the main deity and Jesus Christ is Lord. I always keep in the back of my mind the human side of it all and the duality of man as well. Especially outside of the walls of any religious building of any faith. The church is not a sanctuary for saints it is a hospital for sinners of all types, male and female, straight or gay. I hope that this resonates with straight parishoners to remind them that a sexual predator no matter what the orientation is just that.... a sexual predator. Lest we forget others ( Earl Paulk, Jimmy Swaggart , etc. )before Eddie Long who were also " fallen pastors "and clergymen as well.There is nothing new under the sun. I am shocked for a minute, suprised and then I just simply wonder and move on.

He is entitled to a legal presumption of innocence like everyone else.

He's also fair game for speculation and opinion that carries no legal weight.

He's a villain, who may be more villainous than was previously thought. I hope this destroys his business of harmfully exploiting others for his own gain.

I have to agree with Don Lemon. Having been a police officer and investigating many similar incidents, the things that the young men are saying are dead on with what a pedophile does. If you look at the priest scandals, the same thing occurred because of the position of authority that clergy holds.

Males, especially boys, do not want to admit these types of things could or did happen. They certainly don't run around bragging about it. In most cases, they stuff it inside and live tortured lives for years until it finally explodes.

When I look at what this "bishop" receives in the form of compensation -- it is sickening. Yes, he probably has done lots for the community; if I were living the life of a millionaire, I would too. I'd do whatever it took to keep the good times rolling.

the guy has alot of problems, and while there is a presumption of innocence, there is also the freedom of the people and the press to be informed.

I agree that this guy acts and sounds like a classic pedophile, but lets remember that his sexual identity has little to do with that.

This is a violent crime, not a gay sexual encounter. As such, until this is cleared up, the people of that church better consider keeping him away from their children.

The guy has made himself a public figure and his privacy issues work differently.

He made the choice to try to become a famous preacher on the television. He courted Bush and the conservatives.

I think the guy is probably guilty and I think that a dozen of his peers will likely agree with me.

Then the church will have to start dealing with the multi million dollar lawsuits that have probable guilt as their means of deciding who gets financial restitution.

the church would serve itself and its children to get rid of him NOW.

He is a fake at best and a rapist at worst.

While innocent until proven guilty, this particular minister, as I posted above, is definitely fitting the profile of someone who should not be in the pulpit and certainly should not be entrusted with the care of young men.

But I haven't seen anything in the reports yet that substantiate classifying him as a pedophile.
