Any Other Ectomorphs Here?

I don't understand what you're looking for here, Nomenclature.... It's been said already, but I have to throw in my opinon now that it's happened to me.... every time someone throws out their two cents, which none of the advice has been bad, you reply with some "It won't work because blah blah blah crap crap crap"

Are you looking for people to tell you that having an Ectomorph Metabolism sucks? I'm sure there are times when it does. If that's the reality for your body, you need to just accept it.

Are you looking for free health care? No one has said that they are doctors or certified dieticians or nutritionists. If you're looking for a medical explanation or possible solution, go see your doctor.

You may just need to look in the mirror and realize that you don't have the framework and genetic makeup to put on 75lbs of muscle in 4 months. When I first started working out hardcore, like I talked about in my first post, my hope was to put on 25lbs of muscle. I quickly realized, accepted, and appreciated the fact that I wasn't going to, and not for lack of effort. My body just wasn't the kind of body that would do that. Rather, I focused and concentrated on what I could do, and it's worked out phenominally.

Hopefully, you'll realize sooner rather than later that you should appreciate what you've got, even through it's flaws, and that when people are trying to help, you should be grateful..... because if you're not getting the responses that you want from multiple people, the problem is in how you phrased your question.

Yo, Nomenclature! There's hope:

Look at how this MTV dude has transformed his body:

Before-

After-

Also, I was shopping for undies today and I noticed these models (i.e., Ecto's are gettin' some love.):

Feel better?

80kgold: The first guy was muscular even in the "before" pic, and so are the two other guys. The last guy in the white boxerbriefs has an average build.

If you consider them skinny, then what would you think if you saw a guy who was 135 lbs and couldn't put on muscle? lulz

^ I disagree. Those guys are thin with definition, but they're not bulky at all. Look at their arms. Some definition? Sure. Bulk? Naw.

"Ectomorph" isn't necessarily a synonym for "skeletal".

My more important point is that you can change your morphology. Possible? Yes. Easy? Naw.

In any case, I tried. Best wishes, dude.

Wow you really are being whiny, but i guess its a little understandable. We all have our insecurities. Trust me, but sooner or later we have to come to terms with the features and flaws that make us who we are both physically and mentally.

Personally I think skinny young guys are sexy. No i'm not saying that to convince you that you shouldn't worry about your image. Just letting you know not everyone dreams of big muscle types. I wouldn't care if i could see a simple rib outline here and there

See now your bringing back memories of when i was a senior in High school i would sit next to this guy. He was really skinny and some might say boney. I always fantasied about him lol. Screw education when you have soft core porn playing in your head. (!)

I think you just need to get over it. Sounds simple and stupid. Yet thats all it takes really though. Don't let people get to you.

My body type doesn't let me stay at any weight amount ever!! its F**KING ANNOYING but i've come to terms with it.

My body goes up and down with the passing of the seasons. I'm Skinny one year (almost boney but not completely) then chunky the next. I know it sounds unhealthy and it might be to some small extent. I definitely am not really attractive when i get chunky but thats never bothered me because i was comfortable with my body no matter what others said or point out. I come first no matter what weight i am.

People like to point out to me that I've gained weight like if I haven't noticed. It hasn't really gotten to me because I know i have gained weight and accept it.

*When you finally accept your body and embrace it. No one can get in your head and even skinny comments won't make you worry as long as your happy with your self

Look at their arms. Some definition? Sure. Bulk? Naw.

My point, is that the average ectomorph has neither bulk nor definition. They aren't selected to be professional male models in perfect lighting like the guys in your examples are.

I know how you feel Nomen and is just frustrating not being able to look "healthier" but whats worst for me, is that im into bears. i know there are some of them who likes skinny guys however i want to become a bear myself, and im actually working on that!! right now im 26 and im planning to become a bear before hitting my 30s... i know it might sound stupid but is my goal! and im really going to achieve it!

so far i have gain 10 pounds, on April was about 160 this month i just hit 170, it might not be a huge progress but im pleased with it!

That's YOU???????
What's wrong with THAT body......besides nothing?....... ....... ;)

Seriously!?..... I thought you meant you were like... you know actually boney. Damn I mean I've been skinner than that. (granted I was a runner and worked out)

There is seriously nothing wrong with that body. You look fine

I thought you looked more like this guy... now this is an ectomorph..

WOw nomenclature you are complaining about nothing. You have an average body, I personally would not classify you as an ectomorph.

I'm an ectomorph and I'm happy with my body. Yes I get a lot of comments about being really skinny but I'm happy that I have a healthy body. I do want to gain weight and my ideal would prob be 130-140, I'm 5'8 and weigh round 115 right now.

For now I'll enjoy what i'm blessed with. I look younger than I am anyway so my body fits my face. Once I can actually hold a lb i'll start to bulk up.

It's hard to tell whether you're remembering your body from an earlier time or you have a body-image issue.

Based upon your picture, you are on the thin side of mesomorphic. You have good shoulder and chest development. And I doubt anyone would throw you out of bed.

Dude.... WTF??? You are totally NORMAL. Healthy, even.

I look like that NOW, plus more hair.... and I want to loose a few more pounds.
(One of these days I'll post a pic)

You should be able to gain that definition you want, but count your blessings... you
probably will age very well.

I appreciate the compliments, Kara but I find it impossible to consider myself mesomorphic; I've aware of that bodytype, and those guys can easily put on muscle, and have bigger frames. . .I definitely have a small frame, skinny arms and it's difficult for me to put on muscle.

Mesomorphs just look more "solid" than my body does.

Interesting you bring that up;

I had a friend who told me he was fat growing up, and was always teased about it. When he became an adult, he began exercising like crazy, eating right and dropped about 60 lbs in only a year. He looked great, everyone was proud of him and they told him that he didn't need to lose weight anymore, but he still felt fat no matter what was said to him. He figured it was because he lost weight so quickly, and his mental image hadn't caught up with his "new" body.

Maybe my body isn't as bad since i've become an adult (though i'm still quite thin), but i've had so many comments openly made to me about my ribs sticking out, and my arms. . .it's just something that's always stuck with me. I still can't wear anything sleeveless, and I still look dramatically smaller and skinnier standing next to average guys. So. . .whatevz.

Daniel Craig doesn't even look like Daniel Craig during the off season. It's a full-time job to look like that.

What you're describing with your formerly fat friend is quite common. People who were overweight or underweight as children retain that mental image in their head- even long after they have gotten into shape.

There's also a condition called muscle dysmorphia or colloquially, "reverse anorexia" or "bigorexia", that affects many guys. No matter how muscular they get, they still believe they're not muscular enough.

 Except i've never been muscular in my life. I was chubby before I hit puberty, but I was stuck at 130 lbs as soon as I turned 11,

And if I could figure out how to take a webcam pic without holding the camera, you can see EVERY ONE of my ribs when I lift my arms up.

Nom, Seriously..... Enjoy it while you have it. You have NO idea apparently how lucky you really are.

I was just talking to a friend of mine yesterday. I was telling him how I always felt inferior and under developed in school, etc. Most guys were bigger and more "manly" than myself. They had body hair when I was smooth as a baby. I was a classic EMO kid, body wise. I hated it. You could see my ribs, and my pelvic bone. No matter what I ate. I could never do anything about it. Nature. Genetics.

Now in middle age, this has come to be a huge advantage for me. I never saw it like this before, but I am naturally thin, age slowly and am actually totally healthy. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with me whatsoever. (My doctor despises me)

I do pretty much anything a teenager can do. In the meantime my friends (my own age) are falling apart. Many are fat, some HUGELY fat. They have health issues, diabetes, heart problems, etc, etc. This is the majority. I have only ONE friend that's close to me body and health wise. AND can keep up with me!

I don't put on muscle or definition. I just look normal, healthy, and younger than I really am.

My point in all this, WHO CARES what others say, or used to say. It's not their body. NOW is MY time to get even, so to speak. I am in great shape while many around me are deteriorating. (Though I'll never look like Black hole sun again :D ) Yes, I was that thin.

Quit hating yourself and enjoy what you really have. Guys like you age slowly. Yes, it makes you very un-average, but you LAST. Learn to work with what you have and make the best of yourself. You can't swap bodies.
