Araucaria Appreciation Thread

Good Wednesday morning Thad, Gary, and Frankie! (*8*)

Thad, I'm glad you had a good time at Jersey City Pride. I've had fun going to different Pridefests around Florida. If I remember right, you're about to board a plane to go to Southern Decadence in New Orleans in a day or so. I'm thinking that Bearracuda event should be really wild.

Well, I got my new water heater installed. They sent a rather friendly beefy guy to do it, which made it almost worth it to spend all that money. Anyway, it's done, and I don't have to worry about it any longer. The only thing is that they had to get a permit, and somebody from the municipal code enforcement is supposed to come out and look at it. I just hope that guy doesn't decide to look around once he's here, because they certainly haven't been my friends.

I'm becoming a bit annoyed at my dentist. I rescheduled my appointment for Monday. I went in, and the dentist was talking about doing some procedure on my teeth, I'm not sure exactly what, it sounds like they want to put something on, like a solid permanent capping on all my teeth. Like, I get the feeling that the cost is going to make the water heater installation costs look like child's play. Gary, I think you're right about them needing to make more money after the conference, if indeed, the conference itself wasn't about fleecing patients. And after that, they couldn't do the usual cleaning, it had to be rescheduled, where, of course, the dentist will further explain the procedure. Well, they made me schedule for yesterday, but I canceled when it became clear the water heater guy was going to be at my home all day. Well, the dental company has canceled on me a couple of times already, so I guess turnabout is fair play, right? And I'm wondering if it's a good idea. For instance, I've had a history of needing a root canal once every few years. If I have to have that done in the future, would that require breaking through that capping thing they want to do, and then it would have to be done all over again? That's what me worried about these corporate dental companies. They're looking to make big bucks out of their customers, not to primarily take care of their needs.

Hi! Yes, I fly to New Orleans tomorrow. But I wish I could be at two parties at once. I got a ticket to Bearracuda Friday night because it sold out when I went to Decadence before. But the same night, there's another party called Club Closet, and Bright Light Bright Light is there. You've probably read me raving about him; it's the name Rod Thomas uses for his music and DJ work. OK, I did see him last month performing in Philadelphia, but he is a favorite of mine and his DJ sets are really fun.

But Bearracuda it will be. I've also got a ticket for a GLBT walking tour of New Orleans. Of course I'll be at the parade Sunday.

If I need to be bailed out...I won't call you. I know better.

Hello Johnnie , thank God your new water heater is already installed

Are your teeth very sensitive lately ? if not you could postpone a check up / treatment ...

I don't know ... my opinion is that maybe you should look for a new dentist

Have a pleasant day Buddy

Good Saturday morning Frankie, Thad, and Loner! (*8*)

Frankie, I hope all is well with you.

Thad, I suspect you're still recovering from last night's Bearracuda party in New Orleans right now, if indeed you're not lying between a couple of hairy men right now. (y) Your LGBTQ+ walking tour should be good. I did that when I was in New Orleans about 20 years ago, I wonder if it's the same guy doing it.

Loner, thanks for the hug. (*8*)

Well, the water heater is working fine, I'm glad I don't have to worry about that. As for the dentist, she says my bite has "collapsed," due to breaking down from being dissolved from acid reflux and grinding on my teeth, and they need to be built back up, blah blah blah. But I told them that I'd call them instead of letting them set up another appointment to explain, that is, "sell" it to me. So I figure I've bought some time, and now I can do some research on whether that's the best thing to do, or is it better to just handle problems as they come up, or is something else better? I might even post an inquiry here on the health forum of JUB, and see what they tell me. I figure the procedure will cost boku bucks, and I'd rather not spend It unless it really is the best thing to do.

(*8*) Good afternoon, John

Beware Lithium batterys. I really liked the internet Wi-Fi table radio. This morning its battery pack went up in flames. Luckily, I was close by and got it into the yard before any damage was done.

It is a sad day for me. BillyT and I enjoyed talking about our collage teams. Of course, it was Florida gator.gif for him and USC and Notre Dame for me. All their games are televised today. It will be a long day, and I will miss talking to him about the games. :cry:P1000631.JPG

(*8*) Good evening, John

This was not a good weekend for Florida collage teams. I had two bright sides with USC's defeat of favored LSU and my house didn't burn down.

Let's hope this next week is slow and boring. :)

Good Tuesday morning Gary, Eaglex, RM, and Andrew! (*8*)

Wow Gary, you were lucky to get that burning lithium battery radio out of your house! Yeah, I miss Billy too-- we shared a love for the Florida Gators. Speaking of which, Saturday's game was not good for them. :( Though I saw that your Holy Men and USC won.

And happy belated Labor Day to you, Eaglex, RM, and everyone!

What is it with dogs lately? On Saturday afternoon I saw a mid-sized tan dog in my backyard. I usually keep the gates closed, but I was doing some gardening in the morning, so I figured I must have left a gate open. I was watching the football game, but it wasn't going so well, so I went out to check on the dog. It turns out the dog was Frida, the high-strung pooch that belongs to the people behind me, though she was friendly enough toward me. My next door neighbor said she sometimes jumps the fence, which is a standard 3 1/2 foot high chain-link, rather high for a dog her size to jump, but I've seen her do it. About a year or two ago, I saw her jump it while chasing a black cat that ran like a shot with the dog in hot pursuit.

The maker of the radio is going to replace it under warranty even though it is passed the regular 1 year period. I asked them not to replace the battery pack, I'll use it as a plug in only.

I had a dog that could climb 6-foot walls and fences with ease. Had to keep her chained up or she get out.

I forgot to add that I later checked, and both gates were closed, so the dog had to have jumped the fence to get in my backyard.

Happy Friday morning, @Araucaria!

Interesting about Frida jumping the fence.

Hope all is well with you, my friend!

Hi John! It's been rainy in New Orleans, but I see a break in the clouds. I'm flying home tonight and it looks like a far-from-full flight! It's a scheduled nonstop.
I'm posting details of this trip in my thread. Even the sexy ones. Sorry there won't be many...this trip, although great fun, was "sexy lite."
I'm lingering over coffee.

Hope you are well and happy and that your doggy neighbor decides home is best.

 (*8*) Happy Saturday, John

I received the replacement radio yesterday. It took only a week for the company to get it to me. All companys should have such goo customer service. I'll give them a plug - Grace Digital
