Jasun - a follow up to my previous question. Do the models get remunerated when scenes in which they performed appear on other studio sites years later? If they don't, they should be!!

No. Performers are paid a flat rate for a scene, there's no royalty or anything like that. (I don't get that, either, I'm on salary, it doesn't matter how much a movie makes)

Do people insure their privates in the porn industry, and if they did, is there special types of insurance that cover that?

I honestly have no idea. Certainly nobody's told me if they have.

I guess it would be possible?

the more closed the aperture, the wider an area can be in focus. If you're at 2.8, your focus area is about an inch deep.... if you're up at f11, your focus depth can be closer to 3 feet , therefore the bodies and everything remains in focus,.

Thank you for your reply and advices.

Hi Jasun,

so do you use a DSLR camera or a camcorder to film your scenes?

And do you use a camera tripod for your camera during filming or do you just handheld ( hold onto the camera with both hands) during filming?

I use a DSLR for the stills but we use JVC movie cameras for the video itself.

One camera is almost always on the tripod and the other is always in my hands for the opposing angle shots.

Hi Jasun,

Thank you for your thread, it is really interesting to read your comments and get a glance behind the scenes.

I wonder how the models manage to stay HIV-negative? Obviously with your studio that is not a problem, since you don't do bareback, but I wonder how do models go about it in today's industry? Studios that do bareback, do they test the models before each and every shoot? Do models use/get PrEP?

I have seen many models, who just year in year out shoot bareback porn and they seem to do fine.

regards
Sami

It's different for every studio. When I worked for Jake Cruise, models would be tested before each shoot, yes (or at least at the start of a run... we'd shoot 2-3 scenes in as many days on one test). Some studios only work with HIV+ men. Some only work with HIV- men.

I don't think any studios are supplying models with PrEP, because you have to stay on it for a certain amount of time before it's effective. I could be wrong on that, but it's not anything Iv'e heard of happening.

Most of the performers I know are on PrEP... but so are most of my friends who aren't porn stars, too.

What is it with so-called facials? I've never experienced this in real sex, and I've asked around and no one I know has either.

I've heard it was invented in straight porn and intended to show that 1) the man had actually ejaculated and 2) humiliate the female partner. I love seeing guys in porn eating cum and taking it in the mouth--but have cum shot all over their face? No way.

I don't recall seeing facials in porn prior to the last few years.

Yeah I think there's some humiliation to it and I think it's to show the men cumming. First one I remember was in Big Bear Trucking Co. I think it's hot but it's not necessary for a good scene and only if the recipient wants it.

Here's a question about the model "names" and sorry if they have been asked before:

Are they all fake? A few who use their real names? Can you "copyright" a porn name? When coming up with a name, does the model choose it or the studio? If the studio, do they have to search to make sure no other model is using that name (like actors in Hollywood?).

I mean, someone named, say, "Benjamin Dover" (bend over) is having fun, but is it a serious matter to pick? When signing contracts, which name is used, the porn name or the real name for checks (or maybe it is straight cash?).

Most of them are fake. Almost all of them. You can copyright a porn name.

Models often come up with their own. We'll help guys if they want. Usually I'll tell guys what I would suggest for them. And yes, we do search and make sure it's not one already taken.

When signing contracts of course they use their real names and of course we use real names on checks and legal documents like release forms. I mean, we also have to have their social security numbers since we pay them enough to have to give them 1099 forms.

Some studios will own the name if they create the character. That's why all the guys who left Fratpad had to change their names. It's why guys who work for Sean Cody will resurface on other sites with different names.

For the record, my name really is Jasun Mark. I considered using a Porn name but never did. I wanted my parents to google me. That's a big inheritance, I'm not waiting forever.

Thank you for the reply.

What is a JVC movie camera?

Does your hands/arms feel tired after holding the camera for a long time? Will this result in the camera being shaky and the footages are shaky?

JVC is a company that makes electronics.

No, the cameras are quite light, now.

here's a video from my new movie where I had to run up the stairs behind and in front of my stars... not shaky at all (mind you, I had some help from a stabilizer)

I'm probably asking the wrong person this question, but I'm interested to hear your take on this?

Why are so few bodybuilders openly gay? There definitley are a good amount of gay bodybuilders out there, but they always seem to come out after they call it quits from bodybuilding on a professional level. Case in point being Skye Woods....He was a bodybuilder who did gay4pay, then he retired from pro-bodybuilding and subsequently came out of the closet.
