Chick-fil-a Can Bite Me

You miss the part where people reap the consequences of their hatred.

I guess the one thing I can say for sure is that if Canada's same sex marriage and equal rights policies keep this intolerant and hate supporting greasy chicken business out of the country.....score one for us beaver tail eaters.

No, Harper's working on that: he has this new Office of Religious Freedom. Who could argue with religious freedom, right? Except it is really "Office to Allow the Use of Fundamentalist Christian Religion as a Cover Story for All Kinds of Discrimination While Paying Lip Service to Other Religions"

you never know which way Bloomberg is gonna go - not sure if cause he's independent minded or flakey

in this case I agree with him

So do I. I will be the paragon of tolerance every time I drive by a Chick-fil-a stand.

No, they're just callous.

True enough, probably.

As I said, it doesn't bother me if gays continue to eat there, even when they know what the owner thinks of us, but is it slightly surprising to me when someone can be indifferent to their gay and bi friends on this issue. It's as if they are saying to them "I know how you feel, but I care more about Chick-fil-a chicken then I do about what you think". I can't imagine doing that to someone I loved and cared about. For some this will be a political issues, for others it won't. So people can do and eat whatever they want.

Canada, oh how I Love thee....Blah,blah, Blah....Racism & Discrimination still exists in Canada and we're all TIRED of Canadian Jubers TRASHING America every chance they get as if Canada is PROBLEM free...

Canadians MIGHT not be openly discriminatory with their views on who eats Fried Chicken but the Country has got an Ass-Load of Racial & Discrimination issues that go on in businesses all over the country...

So PLEASE save the "Well my Country is less Discriminatory than yours" Bullshit....

^ Proof and citations please.

Or else you are just blowing smoke.

And ....surprise....this isn't about racism. This is about Chick Fil A and the efforts of this company to help deny homos the right to marriage.

And when it comes to homo rights.....well sunshine....Canada and a whole lot of other countries are way less discriminatory than many of the states in the US.

So suck it up and deal with it. Make a stand and instead of supporting the actions of this company...show that you have half the balls of the Muppets and refuse to patronize the franchise.

and I thought I was the only one ;)

lotta pompous up north

Couple legal talking heads on CNN today talking about Boston/Chicago/NY mayors weighing in on the CFA deal

they agreed (they usually don't) that any mayor that's trying to prevent a business from being allowed in a city is violating the first amendment

that mayors should be smarter and more aware of legal issues before weighing in

and that unless those businesses are not serving certain constituents than they have every right to exist

I would never go to Chick Fil-A personally nor would I advise others to patronize the chain.Forbidding them from doing business is something else....we always should hold their feet to the fire, always make others understand that the company's hard line stand against gay rights in general, and the rights of loving, commited gay couples to marry, even have civil unions which have ALL the rights and privileges of marriage is wrong. But they have a right to their own livelihood and being moraly on the right side of the issue overall doesn't give us the carte blanche to silence them. They will play the victim game and harden some hearts who with continued education from our side could be brought to see how wrongheaded those beliefs are.The answer to bad speech is good speech, more speech,...not the chill of political correctness gone amuck that finds our progressive friends as tenuously understanding of the spirit of our Constitution as those conservatives who wrap themselves around fossilized concepts of what constitutionalism is.Of course in Canada and many of the European allies a paternalistic statism that presumes to know what is best for everyone is what progressives want to bring here.I don't care for either conservative original intent or progressive state control of what constitutes allowable speech.

I was so disappointed when that puke got re-elected last year. I don't want to see Canada getting flushed down the same toilet that we are over here.

But MM, Canadians *ARE* less discriminatory than here...in general. Probably their biggest discrimination is REGIONAL...there is some very real animosity between Francophones and Anglophones in Quebec. Yes, controversy over one's "mother tongue" upbringing! I'm not saying there's no discrimination in Canada, either - even if I narrow it down to only the topic of racism - but I think we both know that Obama's colour would NOT have been as much an issue north of the border. We're nearly four years into his Presidency, and there are entire swaths of the U. S. who just refuse to "get over it" and I still think a lot of it is simple-minded and (what should be, but isn't) archaic reaction to "what he looks like." Canada is MOST CERTAINLY more accepting of gays than the U. S. is, though there are some good trends here - which I fear may very easily be entirely reversed, if not thrown back to the 18th Century, if the election goes a certain way that is looking all too likely. Canada has their Charter Of Freedoms and Rights...and it is actually HEEDED AND OBSERVED, rather than the ways in which similar parts of the U. S. Constitution have been lit afire and mostly burned.

Consequences cannot violate an individuals right to free speech.
No, they can't...but the marketplace can certainly apply its own consequences, and it's entirely appropriate.

Frank...With all do Respect, send me a PM when Canada has its FIRST Black Prime Minister...We BOTH know that ain't happening there anytime soon which means NEVER...We are ahead of Canada and MOST Countries when it comes to Electing & Selecting Minorities to High offices of the Land....

Even if I narrow it down to only the topic of racism - .

That's a No-No Frank...You see the topic of Racism was introduced in this thread on the last 2 pages but you shouldnt discuss it any further UNLESS you've got a Few Black Face pics to add to this thread...There's a Canadian Juber that you've known for a long time that can supply you with PLENTY of Pics of White Guys in Black Face...He Loves'em, Loves sharing them and he's posted several pics in this Forum and Hot Topics...

Sorry but Rules are rules....

Having a minority as a leader does not put the whole country ahead. Prime Minister of Iceland, Johanna. Does this mean that Iceland is very racist because they had a LGBT leader before a black one? No. There are less black people in Iceland, therefore a more natural progression.

Canada is much better off than the US. They've grown up and moved forward. Having a minority elected to office means that that particular person was best equipped for the job. If it so happens that no black candidate up for PM of Canada in the immediate future is best-equipped for the job, then that means no black candidate up for PM of Canada in the immediate future is best-equipped for the job. It has less to do with outward appearance in Canada. Here, people threw fits because people elected a black man as president. If the next PM of Canada was black, nobody there'd give two shits.

Just because a leader is of the minority does not make the country more evolved. We have a decent president in the US, that we elected. But people here all on the whole, are too into the bible, beer and guns. I'm not stereotyping (okay I was, but that's not the point), but more people here are clinging to the past than any other major power in the world. It doesn't accomplish anything and frankly, I'm embarassed by what people here think is good. It didn't work for anyone else, why would it work for us? They are all doing much better on the systems and principles those people oppose. We are doddling along in limbo. We're not getting more old-ways oriented per se, but we're certainly not moving with the rest of the world.

Canada has had a Black woman as Head of State. Before Barack Obama ever arrived on the scene.

And what a crock of shit. I posted a single picture of Al Jolson to make fun of Mitt Romney appearing at the NAACP, precisely because his performance was the equivalent of appearing in black face. The fact that you didn't even get the point is pretty telling...

Sorry but Rules are rules....

But once again, you are determined to make this thread about race instead of the original discussion about a food chain funding organizations that actively work against your rights as a homo.

Man up. stop eating at the table of the corporation that would help prevent you from having equal rights.

And drop the attitude.

No - you started the bullshit - about Canada's this that or the other thing vs. America's inferior this that or the other thing

he along with me and many others really don't care for your anti US bullshit

MM communicated it perfectly and he speaks for many here who are tired of it

Just another republican for hate. Woiuld it hurt one of these people to just say that the idea of acompany fighting against equal rights is wrong!

Romney's Vice Presidential Frontrunner Embraces Anti-Gay Company At Campaign Event | ThinkProgress

And he's moderate? God forbid he should make a statement about ANY bigotry being wrong.

Seing these threads around the net, it really saddens me to see gays speaking for hate. I lived thru the 60s, & all I can say is I don't remember their being many Uncle Toms when it came to civil rights. These boards are full of Auntie Toms these days, self hatred is a terrible waste.
