Comey Fired - We've Seen this all Before

Speaking of irony, a Disqus comment I saw makes an amusing point. Trump supporters are now in the position of having to defend the firing of the FBI director for being unfair to Hillary Clinton! :p

Stay in Toronto!

Lol exactly---I don't think people have a clue what we are going thru in this country---the only thing repubs are good for is giving us constitutional crisis' ---since impeaching a guy over a blow job---now we have a corrupt billionaire in the pocket of russia---and the right wing doesn't seem concerned.

So we see the GOP all closing ranks today.

Their complicity in this is horrifying.

But totally in character. Obviously they've all decided that they believe that they can tough this one out.

^It is horrifying to watch the United States Republican Party becoming so petrified that their minions refuse to face the music, that Trump is attempting to shut down the investigation into his election campaign's Russia connection.

Some White House reporters are tweeting out that Senator Durbin and others have been asking AG Sessions if the FBI investigation is going to continue and Sessions has been refusing to answer. Surely the administration is not going to be so stupid as to shut the investigation down, the optics on that would be disastrous.

Why is Trump not impeached yet?
Americans deserved less news of Trump and more news of something else.

At the moment there is insufficient proof to support articles of impeachment.

And the Republicans are still hoping that Trump will help them push through their horrific retrogressive agenda before events catch up with him and he is no longer of any political use to them.

So far, on health and the budget, they've just worked around him, knowing that at the end of the day, he'll sign anything because he wants to look like he's accomplishing stuff.

But like with Nixon, once Trump becomes a liability and threatens the re-election chances for Republican Congress representatives and Senators......watch to see whether the tide shifts to giving more consideration to the idea of President Pence and forcing Trump's resignation.

Americans deserved less news of Trump and more news of something else.

No we don't because Americans are obsessed with "reality TV" and Trump is the biggest reality star in that genre. His is show, err, I mean presidency is like all of them: a platform for megalomaniacle, spoiled, douche-bags, to say, "Hey, look at me! Look at me!"

Looking suspicious. Mighty suspicious.

WASHINGTON — Days before he was fired by Donald Trump, FBI Director James Comey requested more resources to pursue his investigation into Russia's election meddling and the possible involvement of Trump associates, U.S. officials said Wednesday, fueling concerns that Trump was trying to undermine a probe that could threaten his presidency.

It was unclear whether word of the Comey request, put to deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, ever made its way to Trump. But the revelation intensified the pressure on the White House from both political parties to explain the motives behind Comey's stunning ouster.

Trump is the first president since Richard Nixon to fire a law enforcement official overseeing an investigation with ties to the White House. Democrats quickly accused Trump of using Comey's handling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation as a pretext and called for a special prosecutor into the Russia probe. Republican leaders brushed off idea as unnecessary.

Also I would note that Comey was scheduled to appear before the Senate Intelligence Committee ion on Thursday.

And was fired the day before Trump is meeting with Lavrov.

Great timing.

We've seen this all before.

The Senate should ask him to come anyway.

I'm beginning to wonder if Trump is afraid of how far the Russian thing really goes.

Given the violence showing up at a number of anti-Trump demonstrations, I wouldn't be surprised if the optics could be fatal.

A staunch Catholic I know told me today he's been praying for a president he can't stand because he's afraid of an assassination.

He can't attend this meeting; it will be his replacement, but I caught on the radio news that he has been invited to a closed door meeting next week as a private citizen.
