Desperate Housewives - Season Five

But what did it rely on in the past?

lol, just ignore the bashing posts. It gets annoying after a while, people continuing to watch shows they think suck, while continuing to come online and complain about how much they suck, while they set their Tivos so they can watch it again next week.

The Scavo twins are FUG, I am sorry. Plus they speak with an obvious lisp, so even though they probably won't be gay in the show, they more than likely are in real life.

At the very least they're mormon.

Gabby still got it, she gave me the biggest laugh tonight.

I like this timeline jump.

I'm not liking the jump. I probably won't watch anymore. I cannot separate Gale from Brian. I know he's an actor and not even gay in real life, but he'll always be Brian to me and even when he was in bed with Susan telling her how great she was... I just didn't buy it. I guess that makes me a bad person. Oh, well.

It is hard to see to not see Brian and see Gale as straight in this role. But i think because the men are such background characters they can't be developed enough. Plus the character of Susan is so unsexy it's hard to believe a guy like that going through all this trouble to be with her.

I don't like that they made Gaby's daughters fat and ugly. I'd love to see that casting call. I know this sounds mean but It made her scenes hard to watch. Those girls were distracting.
The saddest scene was when Bree's daughter took the baby away.

We were left wondering: Where are Julie, the other Scavo kids, Dylan, etc

No, we weren't. It was established last season they went off to college (Julie & Dylan), and there've been plenty of episodes from all four seasons where certain children weren't featured in the episode.

Hey, I'm as entitled to my opinion as anyone else. Since when is there a rule that you must absolutely love everything a show does in order to consider yourself a fan or to watch it? Lord knows you're full of opinions. Why is the same not allowed of anyone else?

I'm a fan of the show because of the actresses and the characters. I used to adore the show and I couldn't wait for each Sunday because the show was really the cream of the crop. Somewhere along the way, it began to stumble... and it's never really recovered. It relied more and more on camp/comedy and the balance just got thrown off, IMO. However, I continue watching out of hope that it will get better and really rise from the creative ashes, but so far it hasn't. I also enjoy the actresses, which is another reason that I tune in.

I shouldn't have to accept the lackluster garbage that the show shoves on the screen just to be considered a "fan." A true fan knows the full potential of a show and wants it utilized with every episode. It doesn't make me a "basher" just because I want it to live to its full potential, and it also doesn't mean that I'm not allowed to watch just because it isn't as good as it once was.

I don't think that you have to love everything it does. But to say something as drastic as "Marc Cherry has lost it", one has to wonder why you'd even bother to continue watching. Seems like a waste of time to me. There's plenty of shows I once liked but I now think suck. I just turn it off and continue on with my life. I don't continue watching and then just keep talking about how crappy it is.

Yes, Gale Harold definitely needed a haircut.

Who'd have thunk that Nicollete Sheridan would be the hottest one of the girls. Had to have some plastic surgery while they were off the set. LOL

I like the Scavo twins. Cute and a source of some funny episodes to come. Where are the other Scavos? I bet they don't bring them back.

Agreed, Gabby's kids were way too heavy and not potentially cute for the show.

They need to really use the gay couple this season in the storyline. I like them. Maybe Bree's son could move in with them. LOL

The jump in time should play well. I had no proplem with it.

Edie's crazy new husband is obviously the husband/father of the mother and child killed by Susan and Mike in the car accident. And now he wants revenge which explains why he was so adamant about moving to Wisteria Lane. So Susan is in danger. Anyone else agree?

Dammit! Yeah, of course, I agree, but I wanted to be the first to say it. :grrr: Heh.

Yeah, the only other thing is, who was it that dropped the charges against him? I'm guessing it was his deceased wife/mother of his kid, and that he had a fit of rage in which he went off on them not too long before they both were killed in the accident. Which doesn't stop him from hating on Susan for killing them, just the same, of course.

They speak with a lisp so they must be gay. Right... I'll bet someone thinks the same thing about you behind your back even though you don't realize it.

Anyway, I wasn't quite sure how I felt about the season premiere. This whole lapse in time thing is gonna take some getting used to. It's like we've missed out on such a big part of our favorite characters' lives and now we just pick up with these people who've changed so much that some of them (Gabby) don't even resemble the people they were the past 4 seasons.
Also, the last minute of the episode gave away too much. I believe I've already figured out the season's big mysteries. Edie's crazy new husband is obviously the husband/father of the mother and child killed by Susan and Mike in the car accident. And now he wants revenge which explains why he was so adamant about moving to Wisteria Lane. So Susan is in danger. Anyone else agree?
Whoa I didnt think of that. Could be true. Good thinking! I thought he was just a random psycho. I thought it was gonna be totally crazy and random like the ridiculous Alfre Woodard storyline. What a waste of a talented actress on a shitty storyline.

Although I don't mind Katherine, I felt her storylinehad run its course and dont see the need to add her to the main cast.

I have watched every season but stopped mid season last season. I got bored. I thought this would be a good time to pick it up since they went forward. To me it's weird how Susan is 50 acting like she's 30. And she's had the same look for 10 years? I did like how Gabby's life and changed so much. I thought that was clever. Carlos being blind is odd though. The Bree thing is boring and not clever at all. She's gotten these Martha Stewart comparisons since the show started. Yawn. Lynette's kids are like those flapper guys from the 20's or 30's. You know the one's in the fur coats from old movies? Anyone know what I mean? And they did lisp up a storm. I also couldn't separate Gale from Brian. Going from Justin to Susan is to big a leap for my little mind, lol. But the biggest thing is these characters did not age enough. From 30 to 35 I look different. These people are going from 40 something to almost 50 or 50. They could have changed hair or even just hair color. Something.

That seems WAY too obvious to me. I think if Dave were the dead womans husband he would have already crossed paths with Susan and Mike after the accident. Either at the hospital or police station or something. So Susan would have recognized him right away.

Also, at the end of the episode when the doc was watching the taped therapy session with Dave, the doc said something about charges against Dave being dropped.
So we obviously don't have all the 'clues' to this mystery yet, so I'm not even going to try to predict what it is at this point.

I just hope it doesn't turn out to be something tragic that makes Dave seem like the victim and the good guy like last years mystery with Katherine and the years before with Orson.

I thought the premiere was okay and I am hoping the show gets better as the season moves on and storylines develop. Nonetheless, here is my 12 cents worth of opinion

(the ladies are listed in order of my preference)
Gaby: one of my fave characters and I think the Eva is the funniest actress of the lot. Don't care for Carlos (never have); the girls annoyed me and it had nothing to do with their looks.

Bree: second only to Gaby in fun-ness, but same story here too. We can only hope that the ever lovable Andrew *|* gets a major storyline throughout the season.

Lynette: same storyline so far, she's the disciplinarian, her hubby has no balls and the twins are now not only annoying but they look like they belong on Happy Days and not on Wisteria Lane, let's hope the other boy has fared better

Edie: she looks fabulous as usual and her hubby is freakin' creepy as all heck. Let's hope she has not gotten soft on us over the 5 year span.

Susan: well, she's always been my least favorite and still is, I usually fast forward through all her scenes unless they had Julie in them, her and Mike were annoying and were perfect because they acted the same - like the were plucked straight outta Stepford. Thankfully, Marc Cherry has decided to add some additonal eye candy besides Andrew to Wisteria Lane. Let's hope Gale Harold *|* sticks around for the season too.

And to think, I love this show! :D

I was disappointed that Mike was still alive. Since his character is back this season, then we already know that he and Susan will get back together. So why should we invest any interest in the "boyfriend" character. It would have been a stronger storyline to have Mike dead or badly injured, never to recover.

The character of Bree has now become a charactiture.

I wasn't exactly thrilled with the episode. I will give it two more episodes before I decide whether to follow this season to the end.

The part where Gale's character has to dress outside the window reminded me much of Season 1 hot gardener.

I liked the way the gay neighbor just casually took out his phone and snapped a photo. Perhaps gays are missing Brian?

Not too happy with the Susan/Mike storyline. I know that they killed a woman and son, but didn't they run the stop sign (Or miss it because it was knocked down). I don't like how Susan blames Mike because "he didn't get the brakes checked by a professional."

The only parts that sparked my interest were Danielle taking her kid back and Edie's husband's revenge plans. That's enough to keep me watching, though.

yeah that really bothered me too. after everything they'd been through it just seemed odd they couldn't work it out. it IS weird seeing Gale Harold in another role, but atleast we're seeing him. GODDAMN was Mike lookin' hot though!!!

Bree/Katherine storyline was boring. so were the Solis'. i know parenthood tends to change a person, but i really miss the old Gaby.

kinda iffy on the Scavo situation. Tom has bumped Carlos' spot on the dilf meter. the twins are cute. those boys are gonna be HOT once they get a lil' older. i hope they haven't "jumped the shark" with the rest of the kids. i'm kinda curious as to whatever happened to Kayla.

Edie seems to have softened...a bit. hopefully that's just temporary. as for her husband, i can see him being tied in with the Mike/Susan story...just seems a little too obvious. i was thinking that maybe he might be George Williams' even crazier brother. you remember Bree's psycho pharmacist friend from seasons 1&2?

Lee and his partner(can't remember his name) are pretty much a waste. i've said before, but i'd much rather see Tuc Watkins back on OLTL as David Vickers.
