Do White guys like asian guys? why and why not?

And all that boils down to, we're in sociology oversensitive to racial classifications so we can't even discuss evolution, which is bogus. There is some evolutionary pressure obviously which has made Mediterranean men hairier than Asian men, a neotonizing process from our collective H. Ergaster origins. I don't care to divulge into sociology in order to arrive at a conclusion that is evolutionary. Try as you will to turn a blind eye to racial differentiation. It still exists. Both liberal and conservative ideology trends to erase the facts of science.

That may be so, but it was probably inappropriate to bring up within this context and I'll tell you why. Broad 'evolutionary' traits whether they're flat noses or less hairy shins or glabrous bodies or large buttocks as applied to any discussion of attraction or lack thereof to a group of people by racial classification is still stereotyping. There is no one discrete range of Asian nose shapes which diverge by a finite set of dimensions from European noses. Nor for heights. Nor for penis lengths. Nor for body hair level. All of those things vary by individuals within groups to a very great degree. I've seen very hairy Asians and I've seen white guys with such incredibly little body hair you have to be within inches of them to discern it.

I didn't really understand why neotony was brought up but with the list of traits you provided that are associated with neotony basically match (roughly) the off the cuff general grab bag of reasons gay guys might give if prompted to give details about why they don't find Asian guys attractive, the problem being, all of these traits will vary tremendously between individuals and when a broad list of traits is given as the reason for a lack of attraction to a whole group it is stereotyping. "Oh I would date Asian guys, but I'm not really compatible with them, they have small ones so they're mostly bottoms" would be an example of where this often leads; "Asian guys are often femmie" would be another. Those statements would only apply to a portion of Asian men, and it would apply to a portion of men of every non-Asian group as well. As would traits like thinness, or smallness, or petiteness, or hairlessness, or degree of masculinity. But people tend, especially once you start bringing "science" into it, to start treating these things as natural inborn rules as not as broad generalities or relative variances, and stop taking people as individuals -- or have a seemingly rational excuse not to do so.

By no means did I perceive you were at all advocating this line of thinking, but I do think it's a problem bringing biology or measurements and statistics into the equation because it starts to become people's easy justification for dismissing a whole group based on traits which in reality only occur at perhaps a higher frequency in a certain group, and never applies to all individuals in any standard measure.

There are some who say sociology isn't even a science, and I tell you I have my doubts as well; it is not altogether a testable science. Whereas evolutionary biology might explain why Asian men benefited from smoother skin than Mediterranean men. I really don't care what sociological reasons anyone raises to suppress evolutionary study. It is science resolutely. All you had to say was, "that may be so."

Neotony explains why some men attracted to youthful men are attracted to Asians. This method is how we come to find knowledge. Surely you know that a liberal who has espoused such ideals consistently is in an unbiased place to discuss such things, and as a scientific mind, I cannot and will not shrink from such an obligation to discuss the occasion unbiasedly.

While we're talking proper English, the word is neoteny. Neotony was that new guy at the bar last week.

It is how I read it.

I see more Asians with whites than any other race.

Do Asians not like blacks/Indians/etc is a better question :p

^^ This... Asian gay men are the biggest white worshipers in western society.
Maybe they're afraid of the big black cock meat. Who knows?

I don't find this thread obnoxious just rather repetitive; having been here several years this is a subject that comes up frequently.

When a new member arrives on the scene it is really quite acceptable, for me that is, that he asks the same question that many have asked before.

It is legitimate as the answers may well differ according to whom replies.

What amazes me is the in depth experience you all have of meeting and having sex with Asians. I realised that I have never met a gay Asian in my life and therefore don't think I have the right to make a comment on the question. But I have yet to find an Asian guy on the net who I didn't find incredibly sexy.

oh wow?!? what the hell is going on here?
I thought it was funny that someone could decide an entire group of people was rude based on their ethnicity. (With a few exceptions of course). How polite is it to make that assumption? If that was an example of American values where Asians don't fit in, then I thought it was worth pointing out that Canada is always an option. Alnitak will warn you about the cold weather in Canada and the smug sanctimonious attitude we have because life is so much better here and our society is more inclusive and diverse, but if Asians are truly not compatible with American culture then we still have our borders open to new immigrants coming to canada.

I guess what I find strange about this conversation is very well put by kyanimal (a very sensible and open minded American):
However, as we continue to get to KNOW each other better, and get past our Superficial differences, we can move on to find our Common, Human, similarities.
I do think most Canadians already live that way. I think of friends and colleagues from so many different backgrounds and the way our lives cross paths together. Asking the question "do white people like Asian people?" is like asking "do left-handed people like right-handed people?" or "do people who live in houses that face north like people who live in houses that face west?"
It is hard to imagine how the answer is not obvious.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm racist or just socially stunted because I only find white guys attractive. I get along very well with Hispanic/Black men but I'm just not interested in that way. Disappoints me at times.

White guys dating East Asian guys is not unheard of, esp. in California & in major cities like NYC, Boston & Wash DC

But the real question is.....

Do White guys like South Asian guys?? (guys from India)

Great, you woke up JayQueer. Hell help those that can read his drivel(I, luckily, cannot).

Indian guys are hot (India) ---unless they believe in the caste system--:p I've met and known some hot Hindu's in NYC.

What I said was that bringing up this broad list of traits that a handful of researchers "definitively" tag as most present in Asians obscures individual variances (which are large) and the fact that you could find these traits in individuals of every other race as well, whether what you're looking at is body hair level or nose shape. When you stubbornly stick within the context of this discussion to a statement of "well, those traits are most present in Asians and that's hard science, that's that, I won't have it be suppressed" all you seem to be doing is offering a "factual, scientific" excuse for people who stereotype and say "I don't like Asians because they tend to be more feminine or have this trait or that trait."

I still don't think it's appropriate within this context, and I don't think I'm suppressing science in saying so, and none of these traits can be precisely predicted in advance for any individual based off some broad racial category measurements or averages, and I think you're being stubborn.

I don't see why you brought it up at all.

Alnitak, you have been told.

He says Science should be silenced.

Yes he is. He's the sort that walks into science labs and insists that the mineralogists must describe coal as "non-white"; biologists must describe panthers as as "non-white".
