Do you think gay culture is oversexed?

we fags define ourselves (as a group) by who we are sexually attracted to, and we spend a lot of time dealing with our own sexuality, so its completely understandable that sexuality takes a central role in our culture. i think gay culture is "very sexed", bot not "oversexed", since "over" implies that its a negative thing.

and i think the way gay culture deals with sex is generally more healthy than how mainstream culture or religious culture deals with it (denying it, surpressing it, huge imbalance between the sexualisation of men and women, hypocritical attitudes, fetishizing monogamy, confusing love and sex with each-other...)

I voted no on your poll.. but on second thought I maybe should have voted 'a little bit'..

straigt culture can be a bit oversexed too... but the thing is that when guys and girls meet they often are just dating, in order to maybe get to know eachother with a view to marriage..

Often when gay guys meet, well it's just to have a romp... have some sex, then after it's over it's like 'see ya, later... g'bye'..

Guys are filled with a sex drive.. most girls are not.. so it's usualy the guy that drives the sex..
and when it's two guys... holy cow.. well that is like two testorone filled tanks just waiting to collide..

But like any curlture, there are the hot and highly sexual people and there are also more of the moderate people..

However any community which is a community because of sexuality alone is obviously going to be oversexed.

The fact that most guys seem to be more interested in whether your top or bottom than what your last name is appears to be testimony to this.

I dunno, who's to say who's over or undersexed, it's personal and subjective.

My straight co-workers are far more vocal about how much they want to fuck certain customers but it's not noticed because that kind of thing is accepted, though I find it fairly gross and misogynistic. I don't even know if I'm answering the question anymore. Too distracted by how much I can't stand my co-workers.

I say no. I'd argue "straight culture" (if you will) is undersexed. Especially in this country. Something seriously wrong with a culture where people bring their 10-year-olds to watch Passion of the Christ but heaven forbid "simulated oral sex" or a tit be seen on TV at a time when it's possible kids might be watching.

And people carry on that mentality into adulthood. Think of how graphic some of the violence in 'M' games gets. But you show tits and pussy and it's automatically AO and hard to find in stores. To watch porn on a small screen in your own home you must be 18, but to watch torture and all sorts of unpleasant violence on a large screen with matching sound you need only be 17. Adult movie theaters can't even be within 1000 feet of churches, parks, or residential zones. But movie theaters that show movies with incredibly graphic violence can.

Gay culture isn't too sexualized, society at large still thinks of sex as too much of a taboo.

I just think all young guys gay or straight are looking for ass until they mature....some men of course never grow up!

Also I get the open relationships thing I just think it's kind of dumb, when I find a guy I really like, and can be super sexual with... I don't think I want to shop around. It makes me feel like my emotions are getting taken advantage of. I guess I'm conservative that way. Or maybe I just haven't found a way to deal with that yet. I've had a lot of gay men project their internalized homophobia on me by treating me like crap.

Please define what you mean when writing of a gay culture?

Are you referring to gay men who regularly visit gay bars, or sauna baths and are sexually promiscuous?

Why are we arguing semantics?

I still believe that gay men, homosexual men- whatever you want to call us, gay culture, gay lifestyle, gay orientation 'Kinsey Scale', whatever. I just think that we gay men are obsessed with porn. In fact I think it's the one common unifying thread that gay men share above anything else. We're so different individually but when it comes to porn- we all gather around. I think this is pretty objective enough that I can have an opinion on it and still be factual.

This *is* a porn site above all else after all. Look at the front page.

Well, I dare to say that sex is more important to men than to women. At least from what I've read and experienced. So it's no wonder that between likeminded people, they will focus on things they have in common.

I also don't think that sex is something we should worry about. It's one of the most wonderful things in life. For a number of reasons it's just not openly accepted in modern societies.

Just an example: If I talk to a woman about sex as much and as often I like, I usually get told I'm disgusting or, in the best case, they just roll their eyes and shake their heads. Talking to men, it's usually a endloss source of great conversation.
