Re: R.I.P. Donna Summer

Yes, you do not need to remind me. My response was a bit tongue in cheek but it does surprise me that Jay has never heard of Donna Summer. By the way, you forgot to mention Liza.

But I didn't forget Liza with a "Z"

Her I love.:p

Re: R.I.P. Donna Summer

One last dance, Donna. You made me happy many, many times:

donna summer

so sad for her family...i can remember so many good times in the clubs(and after hours) celebrating her music.....disco is truly dead this time...so sad:(

Classy lady, who really did work hard for her money;) R.I.P. Donna.

Re: RIP Donna Summer! You will be sorely missed!

It's really upsetting. Over the past few months so many great artists have died. Donna, WHITNEY, Amy, Etta, and to a degree (not an artist) but Don Cornelius.

All this death surrounding artists I admire is really starting to upset me on a personal level.

Re: RIP Donna Summer! You will be sorely missed!

I'm so sad over this news. She was truly a dance music diva and her legacy will live on through her music.

Re: R.I.P. Donna Summer

Are you referring to the statements made in the 1980's about homosexuals and AIDS? Weren't those comments taken out of context by the press?

Depends on who you believe. The statements (in essence, the "AIDS is God's punishment of sinful lifestyles" ones that weren't that uncommon at the time) were put into the press, and for many months, they went unanswered. When gay groups started calling for her head (and returning her albums to shops), she made a statement stating that her comments were taken out of context, and that her manager had shielded her from hearing about the ensuing controversy. She did sue New York magazine over posting her quotes as fact, but it was settled out of court.

Don't forget about Adam(MCA)Yauch.

Terribly sad news. It seemed a while ago that all the good classic actors were going. Now it's the musicians. :(

Re: R.I.P. Donna Summer

Who's Donna Summer??

I've never heard of her until today.

That's it. Turn in your gay card, JQ. By the power vested in me by the ghost of Freddie Mercury, I hereby recind your gay licence and all it's privledges for 90 days. During that time, you are not allowed to listen to the Pet Shop Boys, shop at Abercrombie & Fitch or watch anything with "The Real Housewives" in the title.

You must also perform 30 hours of community service by looking up Donna Summer on Wikipedia, YouTube and iTunes.

Re: R.I.P. Donna Summer

NO!!!

I loved her music!

Several years ago I spoke with her on a New York City street and she was very nice.

RIP Donna.... you gave us some great music.

I swear, I think this song is about me. And it was written before I was born.

RIP Donna Summers

Seriously?

I mean.

Seriously????

You really must have grown up in the back of a very dark closet.

Re: R.I.P. Donna Summer

Don't be sad.
I'm expecting very nice videos of her here.

RIP Donna
In the late 70's Steve and I would go dancing 4 or 5 nights a week. They always played "Last Dance" right after last call. We must of danced to that hundreds of times. I'm crying now.
