I don't have anyone on ignore. The only time I'd have someone on ignore if they're relentless in personal attacks, harassment through PM or heavy spamming that would cause unnecessary disruptions and waste of my precious time. If I don't like something, I simply avoid the topic and move on. I can't believe people get bothered enough by strangers online with different political, social and personal views that they need to build a cocoon around themselves with ignore lists.
 
I always thought of the ignore feature as a weakness, in a way. I've had spats with other JUBbers, and some of them I don't see eye to eye with at all, but putting them on ignore would mean never facilitating dialogue and that seems counter-productive to me.

I rarely write people off, neither in the real world nor in internet-land.

Definition of insanity... you must really be fucked when you clicked on straight porn by accident... having to click through pages and pages of titties and twats all because you have to look at all of it before you exit out and go do something else....

If I were to personally 'object to opening threads with images', darling, I wouldn't be able to open any thread. The .gif epidemic is a festering wound. I wouldn't mind it if they were witty or at least amusing about it. But, nope...just passive-aggressive tripe on their end.

I tried the ignore function once, just to see what it looked like. Since then, it's just been "scroll past the stuff I'm not interested in".

I find it particularly unbecoming when someone announces to the person they're ignoring that they're being ignored. "I'm ignoring you…I'm ignoring you…" is probably the bottom of the barrel as far as I'm concerned.

Anyway I do use the ignore feature built into my mind from time to time.

How exactly is it "reaching"? I mean it's totally clear that if 10 out of 10 people couldn't stand it that would be your motivation for doing it more often, as the surest way to kick off a gif spam fest is for anyone to say they don't like it and off you go. It's pretty clear why you do it.

The fact that anyone making any displeased statement at all about gifs in a discussion will encourage you and your buddies to fill the next 2 pages with it is extremely immature and a big part of why the gif overuse is disliked. You can play stupid about it if you like but that's exactly what happens.
