Inequalities have been responsible for the French Revolution, and the Russian Revolution...bloody examples that should encourage us not seek a re-run.
I, of course agree that POVERTY is a problem. But, again, you are assuming that inequality causes poverty. It does not. In industrial societies there is no such connection. In a pre-industrial economy, there is only so much money at a given time, and most income comes from the land, owned by a few big land owners. In a given year there is only so much harvest. If the peasant want more, the owner must take less and if the owner wants more, the peasants get less. This is of course, the economy depicted in the bible.
But in an industrial society there is no such connection, because there is no limit on production.

The inequalities are greater in the US because it is so easy to become very rich quickly. This is because of the huge size of the market, so that selling a tiny bit to a huge number of people results in great wealth. My example is Oprah on TV. She is worth 2 billion dollars or so. BUT, if she had done exactly the same on, for example, Greek TV speaking in Greek, she would have made far, far less entirely because of the difference in the audience size. The US is a rich country with the third highest population in the world, and is part of the world wide English speaking culture, most countries of which are also rich.
The authoress of the Harry Potter series is the wealthiest woman in Britain, and became so very quickly by selling her books to the world wide English audience. Successful movie, TV and sport stars quickly become very rich, many Australian and Canadian, selling into the world wide audience. The same dynamic works with innovative products, and is part of the reason the US is a leader in technologies. Someone with a new idea will find financing and investors relatively easy because a new, desirable product in the huge market involves less risk than elsewhere. Suppose Apple had developed the first personal computer in Greece. Would they have found investors or bank financing, knowing that only a small percentage of people would be interested at first? In the US a tiny fraction of an immense market justified the development.
In the US poverty is largely caused by two factors: welfare and immigration. We pay people to live on welfare, generation after generation.Then, we invite in millions of very poor and uneducated third world people each year, eager to work for small wages. They compete with Americans and bring down wages. They force Americans to compete with the next higher job level, and the next, bringing down incomes, by supply and demand, for all but the most skilled and educated.
You can't reason with people like that not if you want to keep your limbs and it would be stupid to even bother.
Of course there could be a huge plethora of very deep considerations about that but if for the middle class ppl raising children is getting more and more difficult in Italy could it be because this "middle class" is simply disappearing there?. And what about elsewhere?
