Eurovision 2015

I think it's catchy. The man's voice is maybe not great but I love the woman's. Plus it leaves a smile on your face.

It's definitely not boring like the song and artist australia chose

Well if Bonnie Tyler couldn't get the jon done I can't see this doing much better.

I liked 2014's UK number. She was really sweet.

I tend to give douz points to the UK I guess because I've grown up with their style of music (and they're generally pretty awesome despite Humperdinck)

It's bizarre that an international song competition in being for some sixty years has produced no memorable winning songs...

The Eurovision Song contest for 1968 was held in Madrid, where the nation's dictator, General Franco ensured that the votes were manipulated in favour of the winning entry, Spanish song "La La La" performed by Massiel.

Here's the UK entry that is alleged to have received the winning votes:

I'm not so sure ABBA would be happy to hear that. 1974, they won for Sweden with Waterloo

For those who are avid fans of high camp, and popcorn then Abba is the way to go...hardly memorable music...

From the same period...1975 in this case....try quality music, over foot tapping glitz:

...........................Abba................hardly memorable music...

...........................

Surprisingly then that it is still being played 40 odd years later. People still get up and dance to it and sing the words. Plus let's not forget the success off Abba The Musical.

There's always an audience for popcorn......no surprise here..

I assumed all these songs are the best from each country.
Yes it is bizarre they don't have memorable songs like
Edith Piaf - La Vie En Rose, Lady Gaga, Adel, Ed Sheeran, ... etc

Come on man, I can be a music snob but Abba still really holds up.

In 2013 decent Mexican food was impossible to find in London.

Yeah its not a popular food here, neither is there a large Mexican community.

The Monegasque ruling house has Mexican blood. The Queen, being the Earthly Head of an Heretical Religious Body does not--though she is a descendant of Dracula. Speaking of nuns, were you aware that the Society of Jesus does have sisters, sort of.

I would consider the following to be the most outstanding of this year:-

Estonia - Elina Born & Stig Rästa - singing 'Goodbye To Yesterday'
Norway - Mørland & Debrah Scarlett - singing 'A Monster Like Me'
Slovenia - Maraaya - singing 'Here For You'

Those three are excellent and all in my top 10. I have personal favourites which won't/may not, do as well, but which i think stand out:-

Belgium - Loïc Nottet - Rhythum Inside
Latvia - Aminata - Love Injected
Romania - Voltaj - De La Capat/ All Over Again
Spain - Edurne - Amanecer

Good songs are judged by if they will become timeless.
Again exclude Abba, i don't remember any timeless songs after 60 years of Eurovision songs.

So excited! I've purposely stayed away from listening to the tracks (except Australia's) because I want to be suprised.

Apparently we have to get up at 5am on a weekend (!) to vote but I think I might do it. I just can't miss an opportunity like this!

Re: eurovision song contest 2015

I am so excited that Eurovision 2015 is hosted in our beautiful capitol Vienna this year!

Thanks to Conchita Wurts victory in 2014 Austria has the honor of hosting the event!

More than 200 million people in Europe, Asia and Australia will be watching next week!

Last years winning song RISE LIKE A PHOENIX:

And even the traffic lights in Vienna have dressed up for the ESC. Some of them are showing same sex couples!
