Falwell: Dead [Updated title]

Re: Falwell found unresponsive in his office. Grave condition

"Knock knock"

"Who's there?"

"Not Jerry Falwell anymore."

I kill me.

Re: Falwell found unresponsive in his office. Grave condition

Really? Then what did you agree with Falwell on???

Reverend Falwell and I are both Christians. That's about the extent of it!

Re: Falwell found unresponsive in his office. Grave condition

I think some of you are confused as to what the happiness means. It may seem like happiness on the surface but it is just anger for what he has done to so many and relief that he can no longer do those things. It comes out as looking like happiness because there is joy in no longer being abused.

I am sad for all the pain he caused and happy he can no longer do it. You are seeing the happy part now, the sad part has been there for a very long time. Some of you should try to understand why people are reacting this way instead of jumping on them and equating them to his hatefulness, it is not the same.

Re: Falwell found unresponsive in his office. Grave condition

I'll try and be a better person, may he rest in peach , and may his family and those who will miss get though this. That being said the man was a hateful bigot and the world is a much better place now.

Re: Fawell found unresonsive in his office. Grave condition

No, I suppose you can't say you're sorry when you're dancing around like a banana. I'll refer to my other post where I said I am not a hateful person and refuse to delight in the misfortunes of others, even those I don't agree with.
He deserves as much compassion for himself as he showed about others throughout his years of survival.

Ah, then for those of us who don't believe in divine retribution, we can only hope that his last minutes were filled with as much agony and pain as he has inspired in this world.

Re: Falwell found unresponsive in his office. Grave condition

Having grown-up in the much more liberal and enlightened 70's, I can PERSONALLY speak of the EVIL and HATRED the Jerry FARTWELL and his ILK re-ignighted in the woefully uneducated american public. If his ONLY crime were to have been assisting heavily in the election of Ronald Reagan, THAT would be enough to CONDEM him in my opinion. He didn't, however, stop there. In reviving racial hatred, homophobia, and small-minded cultural wars though his preachy, self-absorbed persona, and in giving CREDENCE to the out-moded and ultra conservative agenda of HATRED and PERSONAL SUPERIORITY, he also made possible the election of an IGNORANT and JUDGEMENTAL reformed alcoholic drug-user from Texas that has weakened the education level and good character of ALL americans as a WHOLE!

I ONLY wish that he had lived for MANY years in his STINKING DIRTY DIAPERS as his HERO Reagan did!!!!

Re: Falwell found unresponsive in his office. Grave condition

now if christianity (and the other sky god religions) could just follow suit and die, then the world would truly be a great place to live in peace

Re: Falwell found unresponsive in his office. Grave condition

I can't WAIT to see what George JR says..." we will have a 3-day observance of racial hatred and bigotry in his memorial. LET'S ROLL and KILL some FAGS!"

true...but we are a LONG WAY from THAT happening...let's take this one step at a time;)

Re: Falwell found unresponsive in his office. Grave condition

Wow, intelligent posting, let me tell you.

Possible sarcasm notwithstanding, let me be more specific with an example to expand on the credence corvuspirit's first post has, despite your protestations.

I was watching a special on the vatican, and they were talking about the upcoming battle between Liberals and conservatives in the catholic church. I only hope that the American Catholic Liberals stand as firm as their Episcopalian brethren continue to do so, and then the resulting schism throughout the catholic church is one we can actually be happier about than we were among the Anglican Communion.

I don't know about you Jack (although the idea of a gun toting christian strikes me as an oxymoron) but, Falwell was certainly no christian. Falwell was a politician that perverted a religion for political purposes. What christian act did he ever perform or christian position did he ever espouse? He preached hatred and pandered to his "flocks" worst instincts. Since when is it christian to bring out the worst in people?

Those of you unhappy at our failure to mourn should realize that we are only holding Falwell responsible for what he did and said, he hated us for who and what we are.

I wonder why mowrest thinks everything is about him?

Re: Falwell found unresponsive in his office. Grave condition

I think it's sweet that so many on here have sympathy for a man that hated every one of us from the bottom of his cold, black heart.

That's what makes us different than him--we have forgiveness and tolerance, the values that the man he claims to represent championed (or is claimed to have championed) 2000 years ago, and he did not.

There is no 'hell' so I'm sure he didn't go there, although if the hell he believed in existed that's surely where he'd find himself, if he was actually right and Jesus was the son of god.

However there's no heaven, either.

If there's an afterlife of some kind, and I believe there is, perhaps right now he's thinking, "Oh heck, boy was I ever wrong!! How embarrasing."

And if there's Karma, which I believe there is, and reincarnation, which I believe there is, perhaps in the next life he'll come back as a screaming queen of a transvestite.

Peace out, Jerry...I hate no one so I don't hate you...but I DO hope that Pat Robertson joins you sooner rather than later.

A video in memory:

Re: Falwell found unresponsive in his office. Grave condition

He was brutal in his condemnation of gays, causing devastating emotional harm to many and the deaths of more than a few. His passing does not absolve him from that hate-filled legacy. If I cried for this man's death, they would be crocodile tears and I refuse to do that.

O devil, devil!
If that the earth could teem with woman's tears,
Each drop she falls would prove a crocodile.
Out of my sight!
-Shakespeare's Othello (Act 4 Scene 1)

Re: Falwell found unresponsive in his office. Grave condition

I'm not sorry he's gone, but I'm not going to revel in it either. Emulating the opposite of his hatred doesn't make us more right...er left.
