Favourite Gay Character in TV/Film??

lol. God forbid gay men be portrayed as anything other than hypermasculine, emotionally unavailable cowboys.

LOL, whatever. I gave MY opinion. That wasn't for you to tear apart. Not to mention your reply was stupid. Yes that is the role he played in a movie. Everybody plays a role in a movie or TV. I didn't see you say, "LOL, will truman, a neurotic prissy lawyer with relationship issues". or "lol,Frank-n-Furter a alien transsexual with to much make up." or "lol,Brad Pitt in interview, that depressed rat sucking vampire." Everyone plays a role you bitter little queen with clueless characterization issues.

>>>We are like cartoon characters.

The cartoon characters are cooler. :) And yes, Snagglepuss rocks.

He says he never got to thank you for that night, by the way. :)

Frank from 'Little Miss Sunshine' (Steve Carell). I thought he was adorable.

I would have to say Omar from "HBO's The Wire", It's rare to see a gay thug on television, he does not fit the stereotypical gay image at all.

I don't know wether he is really gay or not (his character, I mean), I'm watching episode 8 of Lipstick Jungle now and I must say I'm in love with Roy, Victory Ford (what a name, right?)'s assistant. He's soooooo cute! And he makes my gaydar go ding! ding! ding!

Isn't he really cute?

So IS his character gay anyway? Oh wait, don't reveal, I'll watch it for myself.

And god forbid that they be shown as anything other then promiscuous queens who are obsessed with their looks.

I really liked Aiden Quinn's character, Michael, in An Early Frost (circa 1985). It was one of the first references to a gay character beyond just his sexual orientation. He just seemed layered to me.

Awesome! ..|

I Hope It Turned Out As Positive An Experience For You As It Did For JP.

And It Would Be Nice If Those In The "Industry" Would Take More Seriously The Powerful Influence They Have In Shaping Public Opinion. I Am Convinced The More Positive The Depiction Of Gay Characters - The Less Likely The Oh So Predictable Backlash From Conservative Activists Will Be Taken Seriously.

It did actually my Uncle actually said You got me outa bed for that as he thought something was majorly wrong. Kinda reminded me of Hollyoaks when JP's older sister said something like its about time anhd kissed him. Made it feel like it wasn't a big deal.

You made my point. There is a middle ground between the two extremes. But it seems many gay men aren't happy with depictions of them that aren't caricatures of hyper masculinity.
