Another thing that's upsetting is that the community that got attacked is defending the attacker.

A critical analysis of anyone is fair, when there is good reason to criticise.

I could criticise Buddhists for their anti Muslim violence in Burma.

Violence is not the preserve of any one ideology.

When that criticism becomes an obsessive, compulsive daily event here...then it could be argued that you have an agenda.

The published evidence indicates that the victims of Islamic States violence in Europe, and North America are random, and never selected for being Gay, or even Muslim.

Thus far the CIA have stated that Omar Mateen had no connections with Islamic States despite his last minute attempt to die a martyr for IS. Islamic States are desperate to prove a connection between them, and Mateen. I am waiting for further advice from the police investigators, the FBI, and the CIA.

Mateen's actions have much more do with his self loathing, as a gay man, than any religious association. His mental health is also a matter for debate recognising that he was a gay bar regular, and a wife beater.

Personally, I think it's something else.

Too many times serious events like these in recent years have become examples of hash tag activism or viral reponse where the main point has been lost.


I have to ask how many people actually took the time to do some research about the city of Orlando and it's discriminatory history towards LGBT people before saying #weareorlando or #prayfororlando. I have to ask how many people are raising the issue that a majority of the victims are non white or that their ethnicity is Puerto Rican. The fact that these groups are often marginalized or ignored by the LGBT community at large or the white gay establishment which might I add seems to be ready to use this as a means to promote itself using white cisgender gay men to represent all of us as LGBT people. The fact that there's still discriminatory policies towards gay people in Florida. That there are gay Muslims out there that feel like they are being rejected from the LGBT community because of the suspect in question. There's a lot of things that surround this that needs to be acknowledged where it would make sense for someone especially LGBT people to use the opportunity to educate themselves.


Basically this issue goes beyond just being out or being comfortable with being gay in public. More later.

Well I'm glad you use the plural word "sources" because I know have to check 3 or 4 sources because most media has descended into sensational click-bait.

But I wouldn't trust any of them to make any sensible ex post facto psychological assessment on a corpse.

^No i believe he was talking about the fear many gay Muslim's have of being attacked by straight Muslim's. Irrespective of their particular "branch" of Islam.

Since we now know that this killer was not doing this for Islam, as most of the more factual news reports are now saying. Do you think we could get back onto the actual topic?
