It was interesting to watch the President's composure RT.
Trump used crib notes at White House listening session on school shootings (Vox; February 21, 2018)

I was sure that these had to be fake.

#5. I hear you.
And he went there. I couldn't believe it, but he went there.
The solution to school shootings is to arm the teachers.
America is beyond broken.

I must admit however that it is pretty nauseating watching the Republican machine shit on the victims.
.....?.....
I didn't expect it for some reason. I don't know why..I know the depths they sink to..but at least I thought they might pretend a little since deception is one of their favorite tools...
Somewhere in the past few days I read that Russia was funneling money through the NRA. I haven't been to snopes yet to find out if it is true...but if it is...
I can't imagine that it would be legal. Is it legal for a hostile foreign government to buy elections? I know the Supreme Court made it legal for US Citizens....
I know the Russian trolls and bots have been busy after the shooting...

It's nothing new here. When I am watching TV newscasts by myself I have taken to saying "Bang! Bang!" at the TV whenever any story mentions gun-related violence. It's quite shocking how often I say "Bang! Bang!" in the course of a program.
I am in favor of repealing the Second Amendment. We need common-sense gun control in the USA. And if the Federal government won't act, it should be possible to do so at the state and local levels.
Are you for real???
There have been 30 mass shootings in the United States so far in 2018 (as of yesterday). That's 45 days. If my maths are correct, there is a 66% chance of a mass shooting on any particular day.
EDIT: Here is the source which includes an interactive and updated map of the shootings: https://www.abc15.com/news/data/mass-shootings-in-the-us-when-where-they-have-occurred-in-2018
That's utterly crazy.
I will never get used to occassionaly seeing armed police patrolling my local city centre. That has only happened very recently purely because of the Islamist terrorism threats. It seems in the US you scarcely need to worry about terrorism when your own fellow citizens, armed to the teeth with all manner of high-powered assault weapons, pose a far greater threat.
I cannot even begine to imagine what it must feel like to send your children off to school one day, only to have the never return because they were shot dead by some nutter with easy access to guns.
^As i said a cultural thing.
Guns, contrary to what you may hear, are very hard to get in the UK. This is because after the Dunblane massacre, the government moved very quickly and totally banned handguns and rifles from ownership by the general public.
Here our problem is knife crime, your national emergency is the wanton massacre of people because of the ease of buying firearms.
Our national emergency is knifes. Although having said all that, guns are becoming more widespread here, in particular in London and the South of England.

NO!!!!! Teachers are there to teach the students. The moment they stop thinking of their students as students and start thinking of them as potential targets to be shot they have lost and the school might as well be shut down. The kids wont be learning anything, at least not anything worth learning.
Yeah, they are getting shot and the adults that a supposed to do something about it are doing jack squat.
Repealing the Second Amendment won't do any good. It's not what made us the sick society that we have become. That Amendment has been around for 200 years and we didn't have near daily mass shootings.
We've had mass shootings for a while. We just have gotten much more efficient at it. It used to take a while to kill 17 people (or in the case of Sandy Hook, 20 children and 6 adults). With the military grade weapons that we sell as "recreation" these days, it just takes minutes to mass murder someone's children.
There isn't proof. See the link I provided above- it was a set of disinformation rumors that were on Facebook after Las Vegas (and it wouldn't surprise me if it was promoted by Russian bots).
The only thing that all these shooter have in common is they are male and heterosexual. Perhaps we should outlaw that.
