French Presidential Election : I need to move to another country...

I have no particular interest in defending la Zapatera, but after Bush Jr., Yeltsin, Aznar, Mori, Berlusconi or Chirac himself, I can´t quite understand how people can seriously insist on making things so hard for the average "not serious" candidate running for Presidency.

Well... Quebec should be independant... and talibans still rule 75% of Afghanistan, if I believe tv news... so I guess she is actually very serious...:-)

"Les Guignols de l'Info" are the best political show in France... the only one I trust, in fact...

... and I prefer an idiot to a fascist... Chirac is an idiot and did nothing relevant in 12 years, so even if he's been incompetent, I could stand him... the new one will be (if he's elected... ha-ha-ha...:( ) an intelligent opportunist selfish nazi... and a liar... and an hypocrit... and a mean leprechaun...

Faut pas perdre espoir, tout n'est pas encore joué et si elle se débrouille bien, Ségo peut gagner. Mais elle a aussi besoin de nous pour ça.

Let's not lose hope !

Alléluia! Bien que sa réponse là-dessus démontrait davantage une manque de préparation, ça ne veut pas dire qu'elle n'avait pas raison!

Hallelujah! Although her answer on the question demonstrated more a lack of preparation, it doesn't mean she was wrong about it!

Have a look on her family....

Her...

... cute, isn't he ?... :D

C'est vraiment excellent et, je l'espère, représentatif de la réalité dans l'électorat actuel...

Re. / Quebec should be independent ^

NO, Coco, me darlin', just NO. :slap:

huhuhuhuhu.....

I truly hope the sceptics arw wrong and France fares well under her new leader.
I guess the USA isn't the only country whose citizens at times have to elect the lesser of two evils.

Let's just hope that the consequences won't be as disasterous for the French as they have been for the Americans.

Could someone explain (or point to a good article that explains) to us stupid Americans the important parts of Sarkozy? What's-her-name was warning of violence if he was elected. That in itself makes me think France did the right thing because I don't like gods or politicians who use fear to gain or maintain power. But I'm sure I'm not alone in really knowing nothing substantial about Sarkozy.

Here's a recent quote from him: If living in France bothers some people, they should feel free to leave the country.

Hmm, where have I heard that before?

I'd blow that Hungarian French nut in a heartbeat... I wonder if he's in to spanking cause we 'merican have been very naughty.

C'est dommage. Mes condoléances.

I suppose Royal and Sarkozy are both twits. You've just elected the evil (dwarf)twit.

They are not twits, and that's the worst : between two intelligent politician, I'll always prefer the one who doesn't seems to be a psycho... but thanks for your condoleances...

He's not "evil", just hypocrit, liar, agressive, selfish, and he loves power more than anyone else... all that at a never reached level, by any politician... he's dangerous, really.

Well.... GWB is a twit, and he's dangerous. Imagine if he was both dangerous and intelligent.... the worst kind...
Sarkozy (I heard it was the hungarian for "in the mud", or even "in the shit" as we pronounce it in France... but I prefer the hungarian version, because they pronounce "sharksy") is one of that kind. Do I have to remind you who provoked the violent riots in the suburbs, here, in 2005 ?... it was just the beginning of his campaign...

Well... it was Le Pen's leitmotive from years (chief of "white power" party, here)... he's been elected because he stole their ideas but looks more "respectable" than they do... He's always been violent by his words, now he can be by his actions. He's got the nuclear bomb, for christ sake !!!!!!!

Perhaps, but I was thinking of the bumper stickers we used to see in the US during the Vietnam war -- "America, Love It or Leave It". It meant you're not supposed to protest the war if you're a good American.

Haven't seen that so much this time around -- I think even the Neanderthal right is beginning to realize that Iraq is an unmitigated disaster.

But does anybody really know what Sarkozy is really going to do? I get the impression he's one of these guys who comes up with a new idea every minute or so. Should be interesting to watch anyway...

And of course in any democracy there's a difference between what you can say when you're campaigning and what you can actually do once you have to work with the other branches of government.
