Gay Marriage Updates By State

I'm fine with the exemptions. They're similar to what was included in New Hampshire's marriage bill. When the Democrats take back the Senate in 2012 they can repeal them, or else they will be overturned in court.

BTW if you have twitter, Senator Greg Ball wants people to tweet him regarding how he should vote on gay marriage. The response has been overwealmingly yes!!!

I hear a nervousness in The President of the Hate Group, NOM, Brian Brown's Voice :D

Republicans have been contributing in support of marriage equality.

Anti-Gay Marriage Vote Biggest Mistake Of My Career -NJ Senate President Steve Sweeney

http://thenewcivilrightsmovement.co...nj-senate-president/politics/2011/06/20/22593

“I made a decision based purely on political calculations not to vote in support of marriage equality,” Sweeney said. “I failed in my responsibility as majority leader of this house of government to actually lead. I was wrong. To my fellow colleagues, to staff, and to those watching upstairs, let me tell you: never, ever again will I allow that to happen.”

^^^The full article on Steve Sweeney also mentions that a major announcement will be made regarding the court case in New Jersey to legalize gay marriage!!!

The progress on all of this stuff, in 2011, has been glacial...broken promises, or negotiations uncertain to create needed majorities, court cases which move slowly, etc.

However the silver lining on the "cloud," and it is indeed a silver lining, is that I think we are done seeing more states pass constitutional amendments making all types of officially-sanctioned same sex unions NOT an option.

^^^Wyoming has rejected such an amendment many times, with many Republicans voting against it. Indiana approved one this year, but it must pass another session before it could reach the voters. West Virginia has a very Democratic state legislature, so it's unlikely an amendment would ever be passed.

From that article.... this is what they're down to:

First, marriage is and should remain the union of husband and wife. Same-sex marriage is a government takeover of an institution the government did not create and should not redefine

It goes on to claim that gay marriage is not a “priority” for New Yorkers, and that Republicans should not support the law because passage would help New York’s Democratic governor, Andrew Cuomo.

And that’s it. That’s the entire case.

Oh wow. So it's finally here? I really hope the 32nd vote is true. So damn nervous.
