Gay Marriage Updates By State

"I'm not worried about the vote.

A referendum in my state... gives me the jitters. There is no way that will not involve me going door to door in my neighborhood and talking to my co-workers spilling out the personal details of my life, pleading why marriage means so much to me when straights out there must do no such thing instead proving to the world that less than half of them are any success at it."

Exactly. I will have to go through the same thing living in Minnesota. We can't talk about this enough to people because it's the only way we will win.

^^^If the referendum passes they should totally return to court, saying "new evidence has come forward" and such. It would be the truth too.

Did Obama just come out for same-sex marriage on Facebook?

http://gay.americablog.com/2011/07/did-obama-just-come-out-for-gay.html

No, he didn't.

The statement was "equal rights for all married couples: gay, lesbian and straight", not "equal marriage rights for all couples: gay lesbian and straight". The first statement is communicating his previously stated opposition to DOMA (i.e. if a gay couple is married in a state that recognizes it, they should have the same rights, which they would absent DOMA). The second statement would be communicating support for gay marriage in general.

As much as i love you guys, i must agree with the homophobes. We can't push these things down their throats. Thats like the complete opposite of how we really are, fun loving and caring.

^
who is pushing whom? It goes both ways.

pushing for change.....the civil rights movement would never move without a push. We could not have come as far as we have so far without pushing.

If they would just leave us alone and let the government give us the same rights as everyone else, there would be no need to push.

Why do we need to have a right to love someone we care for dearly? We don't need a right to love someone with all our hearts. I'm married to a woman, but i feel that homosexuals dont' need any rights to love. If we love women with the "natural" rule, then homosexuals can do the same thing WITHOUT any laws.

We aren't messing with you guys. We don't want homosexuality pushed down our throats, just like people don't want religion. They work hand to hand. Hopefully you understand where i'm coming from with this post.

I do love all of you guys with my heart and want to see the very best of you.

Don't fall for it, JUB.

Let me translate this:

I already have all my special benefits from the government, and I don't want to share them with anyone. The government thinks my relationship is wonderful enough that it has over one thousand six hundred rules and regulations bestowing privileges no one else gets.

We know you'd like all those same benefits and privileges, all the bonuses the government bestows on my kind of people, but you really aren't my kind of people, and I'm not willing to share. It's nothing personal or anything, but I just can't see letting you be equal.

If you loved us, you would not find it acceptable for us to be treated as 2nd class citizens. You would not allow the horrible things that happen to us because we do not have the same rights.

"It really must be an uncomfortable situation for the cons to see so many people around them accepting us when they are not ready for the change."

Yup. It must suck to realize the world doesn't totally belong to you anymore.
