Gay men: what is your religion?

I am a Hindu, but I am more spiritual than overly devout. One of the nice things about Hinduism is that it is not closed-minded to other religions; Hindus will not tell you to convert or be "damned to hell." Most Hindus believe that there is more than one path to God. (...). I think belief in God, or at least a higher power, is important to me.

From. eg, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homosexuality_and_Hinduism ,

Homosexuality is regarded as one of the possible expressions of human desire and Hindu mythic stories have portrayed homosexual experience as natural and joyful. There are several Hindu temples which have carvings that depict both men and women indulging in homosexual sex. Same-sex relations and gender variance have been represented within Hinduism from Vedic times through to the present day, in rituals, law books, religious or so-called mythical narratives, commentaries, paintings, and sculpture. The extent to which these representations embrace or reject homosexuality has been disputed within the religion as well as outside of it. In 2009, The United Kingdom Hindu Council issued a statement that 'Hinduism does not condemn homosexuality', subsequent to the decision of the Delhi High Court to legalise homosexuality in India.

Agnostic atheism. Even as a kid I was rubbish at the whole Catholic thing. I try not to be one of those overbearing religion bashers, but even I have my moments...

I was born and raised as a Buddhist, but now I'm a Taoist.

So you have no clue about dirty bellybuttons, "poo cavities", nor what Taoist believe, but you have the balls to say I'm not a Taoist?

Go fuck yourself, sir.

I am far from practicing. But started out later in life as a Non denominational Christian

My Grandmother was a Seventh Day Adventist but my parents preferred booze to God so we never got up early on Sundays.

I fell into the word in Hawaii where it is impossible not to see the love and beauty in the world. The place I joined... Calvary... was very open and accepting of all. You could be a bum, a hooker, in board shorts or a three piece... they didnt care. Just come hear the word. I liked that.

Until Gay marriage came to Hawai'i and the state was "tricked" into voting for civil unions. At that point the church I fell in love with told me Sunday after Sunday how much I was a sinner and not going to heaven.

So I left.

I did not leave the word. I believe the bible when interpreted correctly and Jesus when accepted will save your life. It will change your outlook. Unfortunately church's are run by man and are typically ignorant and biased in one way or another.

I still believe there are amazingly good stories that convey a method of living your life that will greatly benefit you and humanity. However all too often as with any other religion it is perverted to control the masses.

I will take Jesus you can have the Church.

On the contrary, I think Catholicism is a beautiful religion. But I understand that it[STRIKE]'s not exactly popular[/STRIKE] has much ugliness to atone for in these parts.

Fixed that for you....

I too am a recovering Catholic - a work in progress. I try to behave in an ethical manner, but I don't need to be told that if I don't, I deserve to be punished.
