GOProud puts economics before gay marriage at ‘Homocon’ dance party in Tampa

I understand I’m going to be subject to certain limitations,” said Robert Stevens, sporting a Romney/Ryan button late Tuesday night. “I understand I won’t have equal rights. But I also want to be filthy rich, and I think the Republican ticket can get me there.”

Most of these GOPukes are rich and thus don't have to worry about many of the issues regular LGBT whom are married face. They don't care about being second class citizens because they have $$$$ to overcome that.

The GOPouders should never open their mouths.

Hint.

Personal wealth isn't everything.

I'll bet that they went through about 100 pounds of coke and 1000 pounds of male hookers though.

I admit that I would never vote for the Republicans because of their opinion about gay rights, but I don't think GOProud's stance is unreasonable. Imagine a gay person who thinks Democratic policies are bad for the economy and Republican policies can significantly improve it. S/he must then choose between a party that brings more prosperity but denies equal rights, or a party that worsens the economy and is for marriage equality. That is no easy decision at all, especially if you are struggling financially.

Of course the choice of words here is extremely bad.

Or they just really really really want to participate in all the fashionable prejudices on the right, except for that you know, pesky gay one.

So if the rest of us would jut shut up and stop wearing dresses.....

It depends on who you are talking about. Some of them really are just bigoted tools who had the misfortune of being born gay. I suspect that the guys you are talking about are still in their log cabin.

Please.

When their "ideological" dilemma causes them to elect homophobes who are going to fuck with MY life, they become the enemy.

I don't give a tinker's damn what their politics are so long as they don't vote MY rights away.

If every minority felt that way where would be be now? If 100 years ago women said "I understand I won’t have equal rights"..... if Martin Luther King thought that.... what kind of country would we be?

Anyone who thinks like the fellow in the article is disturbed. How does he expect to become filthy rich if he's considered a second class citizen who could be fired for who he loves. Like Operterph said..... is he playing the lottery or does he want a sugar daddy? He could be discriminated against for housing.

Just proves further that the republican way of thinking is wrong. These new republicans are NOT conservative..... they're radicals.

I don't want to live in a country where only the wealthy white heterosexual christian males have a say. This country is supposed to be for all it's citizens, not just them.

There were a lot of women who thought the suffragettes were, probably sluts and mannish or something, there were black people who didn't want to rock the boat, there are gay men (not that many actually) doing the same thing.

nature of the beast.

Eventually they will end up bitter old queens hated by the rest of us having lived their life in pursuit of acceptance from people who will never give it.

What was the name of that McCarthy lawyer guy?

AMEN, Brother!!!!

Silly rabbit, you know he just wanted to make LOTS of money.

It's all about the economy!!!!

I agree Beau, but most of those people who didn't want to "rock the boat" were far earlier in their respective civil rights struggles than the GOProud bunch is. At this point, mainstream America is actually ahead of these Uncle Tina's.

Anyone who says "I just want to be filthy rich" in seriousness needs a sock in the jaw.

HA without us GoProud would still be in it's closet.

I agree with you. There will always be people who act against their own best interest. I just really DON'T think they are some kind of "principled," gay conservatives. I strongly suspect they are greedy bigoted tools.

I think it's funny that there's a go go boy in the picture. What IS the author trying to say?

GOProud is an enemy to the LGBT community.

(I'm glad for this reminder from that article. I want even more of that.)

Actually you're incorrect. The assholes in GOProud (of whom a good half are straight by the way) are already rich. You don't get discriminated against when you're rich. You buy acceptance. They made their money while in the closet. And I don't think those are the kind of men who really "love" their partners anyway. Why were so many of them in the sex clubs of Tampa otherwise?

I like how gay Republicans say we shouldn't vote for a candidate based on our sexuality alone. Yet their only reason for voting for anti-gay Republicans is for money in the form of tax cuts.

Of course I'll think about my economic freedom, but I put it close with my concerns for social and political freedoms, that's why I'm leaning towards the Libertarian Party.

Whether they like it or not, the Social Conservatives put their social concerns very close; they wont disregard it like most LCR or GOProud.

Is that all the republicans care about ..... Money?
Better than what they'd care about if the economy was better.... which country to invade on the flimsiest of evidence or how to make gay people's lives more miserable.
