I am laying low because of the corona virus, I ordered my groceries on line and they will be delivered. At 67 and my wife being 71 I feel that it's a common sense sort of thing to do.
Are any of you taking extra precautions?

Not anywhere near that extreme. We're both young guys and still feel invincible. So, we're still grocery shopping at the stores. Although, it's been annoying finding everything gone.

I usually do get the big shop delivered to the door, sadly the earliest they can come was a week tomorrow, so i am venturing out to Aldi's tomorrow.

I haven't left my flat for the past two weeks, but I will have to venture out at some point next week for essential supplies.

I'm washing hands like crazy and not touching anything as I shop, and keeping distance from people.

My concern is not for my own health, as for not being an unwitting carrier. My next door neighbor has ovarian cancer and had surgery just three weeks ago. She is still on chemotherapy, so this virus could easily kill her.

Unfortunately, my employer is very regressive so is still having us come into the office. There are over 200 of us on site. The new guy they hired two weeks ago has been coughing and sneezing the whole time, one cubicle over.

No......I want to see what I am buying if it's ANYTHING fresh or meat.
The closest verified cases of THE VIRUS are about 40 miles away, one to the north and one to the south.
I won't live in fear which is not to mean I'm going to be stoopid about it either.

Have you read up on how to deal with deliveries?

The virus can survive on some surfaces for hours. There are even some articles that talk about handling the mail and newspapers.

Read up a bit and use your own judgement.

Yeah I haven't been out since Monday and even then It was just to go to the bank. Been deep cleaning the bathroom and kitchen, even went over them a day after I did them. Changing the towels a little more often, Washed our coats. Parents went out to get some things. We get the mail I won't let my mom or dad do anything else until they wash or sanitize their hands after handling the mail I'm the same way! Junk immediately gets shredded. Illinois is now under Stay at home order so no goin out unless you need to go to the dr. or get a prescription, or gas or food.

Only place I can order groceries near me is Walmart, but I still have to go over there so they can bring them out to my car. I tried to order some last week with their app but order wouldn't go through. So many people in my area are now ordering through the app that the wait time is over a week so they no longer accept new orders through it.

I went there on Friday. Usually it's very busy, but it was surprisingly quiet. Not dead, but a lot less people than usual and it was pretty well picked over. I was talking to the cashier and she mentioned at the busiest of times they had people fighting in the aisles over toilet paper.
Anyway, a few times a week I go out and pick up some stuff, and I carry my bottle of hand sanitizer everywhere with me when I leave the house.

We don't have that option out here in the country.

At some point, we can likely order our groceries and then drive into town to pick them up.

Since I live in the city I can access home delivery from four different grocery outlets.
All are recommending drop off at the door so there's no person-to-person contact.

If I didn't go to the supermarket, I wouldn't go anywhere at the moment.

I may venture out to the market tomorrow...I’ll make a list of must haves , grab what I can get and GTFO....I’d ya know what I mean

I'll continue to do grocery shopping as I've always done it. . .once a week for milk, bread and fresh produce. Once a month to restock the pantry and chest freezer. No need to panic, no need to hoard, just groceries as usual :)

Unless and until each location has a significant community transmission rate, going to the store isn't a big deal when done carefully, thoughtfully, and sparsely.

I was in Target to get bread Friday at noon. It looked like a Welcome Home Party for Prince Andrew in there.

I walked to Wawa (our beloved convenience stores) for milk and a sandwich today. I had no qualms.

But I've definitely been isolating. My long-planned Midwest trip is cancelled...I should have been at the hockey game in Chicago's United Center at this moment.

We have cut back on going out, but still go out too often and only somewhat take precautions. Starting tomorrow night Ohio has been ordered to stay in place unless it is absolutely necessary to go out, so we will be cutting back more.

We have to head out today because we need to pick up prescriptions.

And cat food. Can't go without that.

So we'll also hit the grocery store as well and try to think ahead to pick up any stuff we will need for the next week.

We have in the past but for some reason they don't like to deliver everything we like to get (like mouth wash???), so we went shopping Saturday and Sunday. I treat it like I normally would but instead only touch stuff that is something I am sure I am getting and when we get home we wash our hands.

Every day my partner or I walk one bloc to a Supermarket here in Spain some are as large as Costco. You get on line (never lath long when one comes out one goes in. They are back to having most things. WE cn order on line but the day the delivery comes you probably would get this is a list of what we do not have lol.
