HBO's new show "Looking" starring Jonathan Groff

The first episode is free on Youtube. You have to sign in to view it.

^That's never a good sign. The viewership for the episode must have been well below HBO's expectations.

Eh, I wasn't too crazy about it...but I'll give it another episode or two. I don't know...something rather "pedestrian" about it to me. I'm honestly surprised HBO picked it up.

They're riding the "gay wave" of Liberace and HBO thought it would be the "gay Girls" but the reality is that it is far from it. It's much more like QAF and basically remaking that a decade later is not groundbreaking. It's well produced no doubt but production values won't keep it going.

I think the show is trying too hard to be anti-stereotypical.

It's great that it's not a 'Will and Grace' or 'out there' style gay story, but all of the characters seems so monotone and a little dull. I will keep watching to see what happens- but I hope things get more interesting fast.

Had a friend send me this video...

Just fast forward till ~3:50.

Come on HBO, this was on daytime TV. Let's see some gratuitous nudity!

Let's see some watchable gay TV first... if you need to see dicks and ass to see a TV show, you get what you deserve - bobbleheads with no substance.

Why does it feel so dated? I keep waiting for something somewhat significant to happen and nothing does.

The second episode should have been better but I'm done with this. This feels like a "drama school production": well acted, filmed nicely and a decent script but there is no soul in the show. I won't go into any "meta" level they may be working on with regards to Patrick but I would like to think we have moved on beyond of the point of forcing ourselves to enjoy gay programming for the sake of it being LGBT.

Pretty much the only redeeming part of the show so far has been the mustache daddy's roommate, she's been pretty funny.

no nudity? - "BORING" (Jonathan better drop trough ;) ) Spartacus and Game of Thrones has dick and they aren't bobbleheads with no substance.

^I can't comment on that, haven't watched either one.

I have to say I was watching this last night and all I could think was "it's like Sex in the City told through Charlottes perspective". It's a bit of harmless fun, but it's never going to set the world on fire.

my thoughts exactly.

Something is just...missing. I don't know, but it's just not working for me at all. I wish the show well, but I gotta bounce.

The 2nd episode was indeed boring, even though I though this was going to get better. I´ll give it a coupld of more episodes but if nothing happens, I´ll stop seeing it..

Idk, wake me up when they put more interesting characters in. I think I saw the first five minutes of the second episode and I just can't get over the fact I can't relate to any of these people. It's bad enough it's a gay themed show but what good is it if I can't relate to it. I related more to Oz for fucks sake. :-)
