Help me to understand something about the U.S. football national anthem kneeling protests....

^ I shake my head at pastors who go on Wheel of Fortune, spin the wheel, and shout, "Big Money!! Big Money!!"

I also shake my head at uber-Christian litigants on court shows who win and shout, "Thank you, Jesus!!" over and over again.

And finally, I shake my head at uber-Christian litigants on court shows who lose and grumble and pout and stomp and bitch all the way out of the courtroom.

I consider it rude to wear sex, religion or politics on my shirt sleeve. Especially when I don't care to honor another persons feelings and view points.

I wasn't commenting on their feelings or view points. I was commenting on their hypocrisy. They can believe whatever they want. However, they should believe it all the time and not only when it's to their benefit (or reward).

Trump is stomping all over the Constitution again. He is now calling for a ban on players kneeling during the anthem.

So much for Freedom of Speech. Banning the press. Banning protesters. Banning Twitter followers. Banning football kneelers.

Think of the hell he would raise if someone tried to ban him from Tweeting.

The man is seriously deluded, and I must say again that this is from the man who had to be reminded to put his hand over his heart!

The Constitution is not involved as he is not advocating government action.

Neil, a friend of mine works in Buck House as a footman, he was telling me the other day that the reason why he has not come over for his state visit is because HM is not too keen on meeting him.

As you know all new presidents usually take part in a state visit within 6 months of taking office, to show the "special relationship" between our two countries.

Puerto Rico is devastated, CEO from Equifax is walking away 18 million dollars, but wait, people won't stand proud for the national anthem like some kind of propaganda machine it is? That's so much easier to have a emotional response to because it takes no real effort, I'll go with the third one Alex!

I really have so much trouble taking people seriously anymore. All these faux outrage over "patriotism" when the majority of these people voted for some one who insulted service members in the first place.

Reminds me of this (thanks to johaninsc for the link):

The disrespect the president showed and continues for John McCain, a true American Hero (whether you agree with his politics or not) negates anything president trump has to say about players kneeling.

These die hard republicans make me sick with their hypocrisy over Senator McCain.

notice I capitalize Senator, McCain, and American Hero. I refuse to show trump and his presidency any respect by capitalizing his name and title

When the president calls citizens a "son of a bitch" and says he would like to see them fired, that IS government action.

No it is not. It is no kind of action, only words. He is exercising his freedom of speech.

Republicans have both house but cannot do much because of a few mavericks who ran as Republicans but are only interested in capturing the spot light for themselves. His voters will give him the much deserved boot it he lives long enough to run again.

It's truly amazing how swiftly and easily you flip-flop on the Constitution. It is applicable only when it suits your cause. White supremacists protesting is protected. Black football players protesting peacefully isn't.

And I have to remind you that Trump failing to put his hand over his heart is far worse than a black man concerned about the treatment of black people. Trump is not solving anything with his tantrums. He is merely generating more hate and hostility, and there HAS to be something in the Constitution about THAT.

The football protests are protected by the Constitution from government action. I have not heard anyone suggest the the government should take any action. Trump is solving the problem by suggesting boycotts, which is still only private non governmental action.
It will cost the owners money and they will fine the protestors and it will stop.

No, no. Wanting it is not action. His wants are not binding on the owners. If they we fired, which they will not be, it would still be private action by the owners.

U .S. society today is filled with bias. Bias is a separating influence and should be resisted. Pres Abraham Lincoln stated, "Divided we fall, United we stand." We need to recognize the great truth of our freedom here and those historical events and great minds that helped shape it all. It was a team effort. A united effort; and we should respect that effort....with its many faults....standing upright realizing our all-inclusive heritage...again with its so many faults....rather that defaming that heritage by uttering or performing a divisive act such as kneeling when the Star Spangled Banner is played or otherwise creating some other act of division which in the end will only divide us all the more into some unrealistic, super-exclusive club. Hopefully, one day we will remove the blinders, open our collective minds and truly unite into one united body free to express our different views and to correct those errors that do occur in a free society.

That is true, but, in present day, dead bodies piling up for no reason other than the colour of there skin seems to me to be more divisive than a silent and peaceful process. We (and Trump) must stop concentrating on the 'how' and pay a bit more attention to the 'why'.
