"High school pastor" says gays can "change" in OC

Okay, so I know I'm taking a self-imposed "hiatus" from JUB, but I came across something and I need to talk about it because I am really upset right now.

There is a church called "Compass Bible Church" in Aliso Viejo which is in Orange County, California. It is very close to where I currently live, so it literally strikes close to home.

The "High school pastor" at that church, Bobby Blakey, released this video (below). He complains that high schoolers now see homosexuality & same-sex marriage as "normal" but he also has two spokesmen -- "Tyler" and "Patrick," two flamboyantly young gay men who claim that they were homosexual, but have "turned to Christ" and given up their homosexuality.

Even anyone with no gaydar can tell that these guys are gay. It sickens me how these so-called "Christians" can so exploit today's gay youth.

This is also happening in a city that is less conservative than most of Orange County -- Aliso Viejo, where he preaches, voted for Obama in 2008 and was one of the few cities in Orange County where more residents voted "No" on Prop 8.

Can you guys please help out by posting on that blog, where locals will be more likely to see it?

Another Christian "leader" rails against tolerance and compassion in society.

I don't care if he does erase comments on his wall. I will complain about his hypocrisy, his misunderstanding of the nature of homosexuality, his lack of qualification for commenting on homosexuality in the first place, and his proclivity for causing harm to people until the cows come home.

People like this cannot be rehabilitated. They can only be shouted down and, where possible, blocked from access to the means of hurting people.

I'd guess it was in regard to how long you'd be on hiatus. I'd have used a stopwatch, to be honest. In any event, yes, these people are deplorable and anyone thinking they can be fixed is about as delusional. So it actually takes two to tango. They deserve each other.

Now when your really prepared for a real, honest to God hiatus, let me know. I promise you'll stick to it when we do it for you.

Thanks for posting this thread. I tend to think that these christians are very scared, when you would look deep into their eyes.

I mean, why do you think this 'High school pastor Bobby Blakey' need to release a statement like 'he complains that high schoolers now see homosexuality & same-sex marriage as normal'?

Towards my opinion, this means that alot of people over there, and elsewhere (so also you and I) do think that homosexuality & same-sex marriage is normal. These reli-fundi christians are realizing themself that they are 'loosing the battle', and are therefore very scared.

You and I, and other open JUBBers are open and normal people with a normal life. And that's right now how alot of people in the US think about GLTB issues and about same-sex marriage. See, eg, the end of DADT in the US military.

So I would like to advise you not listen to this kind of rubbish, and please don't try to feel too upset. You are a hindu, so those reli-fundi christians have nothing to do with you. For sure, they will also think you will go to Hell, just because you are a hindu.

That's totally bullshit, and you know this just as well as any other gay man. I only feel very sorry for these 2 young guys, but I am very afraid that they have been brainwashed. That's indeed very, very sad.
