How many different people or ways will they come up with ...

The only involvement that either of your presidents have in this is the fact that they were both Presidents signing off orders. You have your intelligence and your military to thank for Bin Laden's death. The way you squabble over which of your 'daddies' is the best is just so funny to outsiders. Thanks for providing me with a smile over breakfast!

That's pretty much right. Picture yourself being president and somebody comes in an says we have credible information as to Bin Laden's whereabouts. Can we kill him?

Not a question I'd have to ponder for too long. And you are right about the warriors who took him out. A double tap to the left side of the mellon ended the discussion. Not a politician in Washington.

Still Obama got it done on his watch, and I give him props.

The SEALs will never become "known" for this job or any other if they have their way. they hate a picture much less talking to people.

It may very well turn out to be a very bad thing. We just don't know yet. In the meantime, we should celebrate that he's gone on the one hand, and continue to protect ourselves on the other.

THIS won't turn out to be a thing thing; it just may have (almost certainly will have) unwelcome results.

But you don't back down from doing the right thing because of the results; you deal with those when they come.

It's why you Boomers lost Vietnam.

Boomers didn't exactly lost it; they were the cannon fodder. It was the old fogies who thought they could make it another Korea who screwed it up.

Depending on where you draw the line for Boomers, many didn't even make it into the war -- it got shut down too soon.

Venom and bile... is amusing.

Sometimes.

After we are all done suckin the dick of whomever we choose to thank for Osama's demise. How about we remember ........

Oh fuck it.

Vietnam was lost for the exact reason that the war efforts in both Iraq and Afghanistan were successful. LESS moment by moment control from Washington where they couldnt find their ass with both hands.

Obama has shown true executive leadership and let his smart lieutenants take him to the goal. That is no slight on him or Bush or anyone else either. (Except maybe Rummy who wore the Generals like an Asshat)

It is simply the truth.

He deserves the credit.

However there is so much more to do. Osama was one man. No matter how you look at it or who you give credit the way has been greased and others will follow in Osama's evil ways.

Republicans are pussies.

They talk tough, but it takes a bookish, professorial President to take out bin Laden!

Yep......... all tough talkin', no action those Republicans. ;)

(.......watch out, Obama's gonna come get ya!.......)

Hm, fixed.

Though I find it funny how anyone would say Vietnam got shut down "too soon".

You describe a small minority. Most just reported, got inadequate training, got shipped over, and died in substantial numbers.

"Too soon", meaning the slimy politicians wanted to keep feeding kids into the meet grinder. They were like the commanders in WWI, who refused to accept that they were in a different kind of war, costing thousands of kids their lives that should have been productive.

I remember looking ahead and watching high school seniors getting their "please report" letters, and wondering if the travesty would keep going long enough for me to have to decide if the war was justified or if I'd head somewhere else if I got that letter. As it happened, my older brother's number had come up, but the thing ended before he got his "please report (to the meatgrinder" letter.

Some of my classmates held a party, relieved they'd never have to worry about getting called up.

When I learned that our only valid reason for being there was some treaty commitment to the French, I was disgusted at the waste committed fighting something that was inevitable. Though I do recall saying what I still say today: if you're going to fight a war, fighting the fucking war, and stop playing games.

The Vietnam vets I know get a haunted look when the topic turns to Iraq. To them, its one saving grace is that everyone there was a volunteer.

We can only hope that what was retrieved there will allow taking out a lot of teams aimed at us, and that some teams will make mistakes in their anger.

But if we don't get seriously hit, I'll be surprised.

Maybe it's time to spend some bucks on ammo for drills -- in case. In the area that's a sort of tradition: in WWII, this stretch of the Oregon coast was designated one where the Japanese might try to invade; immediately the locals formed a militia, elected officers, began training -- and sent their rosters to the governor, as is proper for a militia. A string of such militias were formed along the coast.

Though this time, learning to recognize airplane and ship types won't do much good.

Maybe now. And maybe a few.

But back during Vietnam, Republican kids went out of a sense of duty; it was Democrat kids who took off for Canada.

Same at college during the Gulf War; Republicans considered signing up and serving a duty, while Democrats protested.

Well Bush wore a Stetson and cowboy boots, that meant he was a badass. What possibly would a community organizer know about tracking down and killing a wanted terrorist?

Ass-hat libtards just have to make it political.

Why not be appreciative Americans and pleased that Obama and the military did well?

Because Bush dicked around for 8 years, even defunding the efforts to capture OBL and starting a war that took away resources badly need in Afghanistan that were devoted to capturing OBL.

Obama got him in two years. Bravo.

Unless Obama (or Bush) was the one that fired the shot that killed Osama, they don't deserve credit.

He absolutely deserves credit for authorizing the mission. It was a gamble.

They have said they never saw Bin Laden in the compound until they entered it. They did not know for sure who was in there. This could have turned nasty with Pakistan if he wasn't there and/or they bungled it somehow.

Exactly! More things could have gone wrong than right. It might have been a disaster.

The President took a huge chance, made a tough decision, did the right thing.

It was courageous on his part and one of his best moments.

Lol i gotta do it...

Actionable intelligence that would have never come to light had it not been for interrogation techniques not authorized by Obama.

I mean since your gonna play the petty high school shit.

Enjoy

Yo,John,..

I just read an article that said after the raid, they took Bin Ladens body to the U.S.S. Carl Vinson where he was then buried at sea..

Bin Laden's body was flown to the USS Carl Vinson in the North Arabian sea, a senior defense official said. There, aboard a U.S. warship, officials conducted a traditional Islamic burial ritual. Bin Laden's body was washed and placed in a white sheet. He was placed in a weighted bag that, after religious remarks by a military officer, was slipped into the sea about 2 a.m. EDT Monday.

Wasn't that the carrier you were just on? Thanks for the sticker too!
