How many languages can you speak

I think Portugese is beautiful.

It depends on who's speaking. Some people have an amazing perfect diction and accent. Those people are a pleasure to listen to! When those people talk, it does have a beautiful sound but when others talk...not so much.
It's a very versatile language when it comes to its sound. It can sound horrible but also beautiful, depending on the speaker.

Also keep in mind there's brazillian portuguese and european portuguese...though basically the same, they sound a bit different. Brazillian usually has a softer sound.

It's also interesting that there's SO many similar words in english and portuguese (and spanish, italian and french for that matter). English native speakers usually don't realize just how many, basically common, words there are between both languages.

Just in what I've written previously:

Interesting - Interessante
Similar - similar / semelhante
Matter - matéria (some meanings may differ but others are the same)
Native - nativo
Usually - usualmente
Basically - basicamente
Common - comum
languages - língua / linguagem
Different - diferente
Depends - depende
Perfect - perfeito
Diction - dicção
Versatile - versátil

See? :D

Tudo bien, buceta. :p

Eu nao falo Portugues muito bem, mas eu entendo. ;)

Did you just call me cunt?
By the way, it's "bem", not "bien" (that's spanish). Just a small correction. :D

Não faz mal. Desde que me consigas compreender, é o que interessa. Talvez um dia possamos encontrarmo-nos e falar cara a cara. E, quem sabe, fazer outras coisas também... :p

Jaja! Solo estaba bromeando. ;)

Oh, e que outras coisas debo fazer tamben? Que voce me vai ensenar? :p

Mi Portugues es algo mal. lol

Lol! Jesus, you're writing more spanish than portuguese. :D

Correction:

Estava só/Só estava (it can be both ways) a brincar. (you could use "brincando" but it would be the Brazilian portuguese more common way)

Oh, e que outras coisas DEVO fazer TAMBÉM? Que é que me vais ensinar/mostrar?

O meu português É algo mau. lol

;)

P.S.: at least you know some portuguese. It's just a matter of studying and practicing. Keep it up! ..|

Speak well? Spanish, English & French (in that order).

Can get by? Italian, about 75%

Know a bit? German

Needs to learn ASAP (at least to ask for the bathroom): Portuguese (from Portugal, not Brazilian).

YAY!!! Can I be of service then?

Are you visiting Portugal or something?

To ask for the bathroom - Onde é a casa-de-banho?

Now for the pronunciation...that's the tricky part. lol

I am fluent in over six million forms of communication, but I've never understood the language of love.

Yep, I'm going to Portugal in October (!)

AWESOME! Where are you planning on going?

No kidding! For a language that's so easy to read (for a Spanish speaker), it sure is very hard to understand, let alone pronounce it! Everything I've found about learning Portuguese is for the Brazilian version, which I'm sure is very nice, but sounds so different from that spoken in Portugal... but I'm very excited about the trip... maybe I'll just learn a few phrases and then speak English

Check this out about European Portuguese pronunciation:

I used to be able to understand quite a bit of Italian, but I forgot almost all of it.

I now understand very basic Japanese. . .like if an older person is talking slowly and more formally, I can get every couple of sentences.

English and français. Because of my French, I can read a Spanish newspaper and have a good idea what an article is about and probably pick out some important details. I'd probably miss a few too. Italian and Portuguese seem more incomprehensible. Apparently English and German are very similar but I must say it is hard to believe it.

Hindi, Bengali, Nepali, Tamil and oh yes of course English.
My Oriya is not quite perfect,so I guess I'll not list it...

Fluent in English and French
Conversant in Modern Standard Arabic (but hopelessly lost in spoken dialects), Spanish, and Italian
Can read Catalan, but can't speak much (trying to change that, but don't have much time to study it.)

Actually I decided I will NOT work on my Spanish.
I will work on my ENGLISH ONLY as part of my belief that the human race should only be speaking one language and that taking time to learn other languages is useless and could be used for more productive things.
Mkay.

I used to speak French well enough to get by, but I've forgotten most of it due to lack of practice. I hope to pick it up again someday.

Only Spanish. Enough English to have a decent conversation, but I'm not very good.

I can get many things of Italian but I can't talk it, and very little of french.

And Portuguese pronunciation is hell

English and Afrikaans.

I've been slowly teaching myself Spanish for ages, but I have made very little progress thanks to a lack of dedication, and practice. I thought I could use DVDs to help, but our local market gets its supply from so many places that only about 1 in 20 has Spanish as a choice; surprisingly, most of them seem to have either Finnish or Turkish as an option...

You're saying that to hurt my feelings, aren't you? It's because I'm portuguese and you don't like me, right?:cry::cry:
