Did you start by just fasting a couple days a week? Or did you just jump in to fasting 4 - 5 days a week? What is your consumption like on the 2 or 3 days you do not fast?
...asking for a friend. LOL

It is different for everyone.
For me, I was addicted to food. To be specific, I had cravings for fried chicken. Ask any old timers here. In the past, I have talked about cravings for KFC.
See, there are two hungers. There is the physical hunger which everyone is well aware of. You get that hunger pangs when you don't eat. Believe it or not, that's easy to get over. There is another kind of hunger that is a thousand times worse than physical hunger. I call it emotional hunger. It is our emotional need to eat. For me, it was really really hard to deal with the emotional hunger.
Do we tell alcoholics to drink less? NO. We tell them to stop drinking. I approached it with the same attitude. I went without food for 3 days. Just water. Plenty of water. I did this several times before I had my emotional hunger under control.
Nowadays, 4-5 days in the week I eat once a day. Dinner with my husband. This allows me to appreciate the taste and texture of food a lot more. I also eat a lot during my one meal.
I've been on this self imposed fasting program for about 6 months. And all my medical conditions have gone away completely. I'm guessing autophagy has done its thing and healed me of all my conditions.
Again, it is not a fad diet. It is a life style. If you think about it, it is not radical at all. Evolution did not mold us to have 3 meals a day with 20 snacks in between. We are built to go thru fasting periods, between hunts and gatherings.
My husband several months ago also jumoed on board just to see how it works. He says he has so much energy nowadays. And he's gained more muscle than ever before working out while fasting.
To me, this proves that I'm not some mutant. He is white and has never had any medical condition like mine. He really likes how much energy it gives him. And why not? Using energy from our stored fat is the most efficient way at utilizing energy. Fat is very dense in energy. You can literally burn fat to have very hot fire. During fasted state, the body uses fat as energy through ketosis.
Anyway, in short, I started out by focusing on ridding myself of my dependence on my cravings. I did this by water fasting for 3-4 days at a time. After that, 4-5 days of the week I eat once a day during dinner time. And my husband cooks for us the healthiest meals you can imagine.
