I Got Lung Cancer

Alan, the news may not have been entirely what you were hoping for, but the outlook is positive and it sounds like you've got it beaten. You need time to rebuild your stamina, you've been through an awful lot.

The summer's coming. Try to make the most of the good weather and get out and about a bit. York's nice at this time of year!

Wow, Alan ... I've been through long-running health problems of my own, but it wasn't anything life-threatening. You've got incredible strength, and I admire you and your pluck.

Whenever I've undergone a surgery, I've come out of it having a new appreciation for every day. The world somehow looks fresh and new, and with each passing day/week/month, as recovery proceeds and more things become possible, it becomes a discovery of changing physical capabilities and rolling with each new change.

It's like, week by week, I've had to rediscover what my body is, what it can do, what it can't do, and learn to accept it, all over again. It's amazing what recuperative powers the body has and what a fascinating thing to watch those powers play themselves out over time.

I'm glad to hear the update and the good news. Keep us updated! ..| (*8*)

Great news Alan! As long as the news gets BETTER........what more can you want....... ..|

You definetly seem to be improving and I have no doubt you'll have good news waiting for you!

An interesting statistic I found out a while ago, if smoking was banned, lung cancer would virtually disappear!

I hope you remain positive and your health continues to improve

Dear Alan,

We don't know each other at all but I just wanted to say that your posts have really touched me, and I can tell you're a lovely person, and I really wish you all the best. Much love coming at you from the other side of the world in Brisbane, Australia. There are lots of people all over the world sending you good wishes, positive energy and LOVE. (*8*)

Dear Alan,

you have been on my mind so many times in the last weeks - though I avoided to look into this thread just not to read bad news... But today I read all in all good news - tumor shrunken to 0,9cm (just imagine it was your... sorry I am weird) .

Alan, crying is no sign of weakness - it is therapeutic as someone said - it clears your eyes and your mind.

I have a sticker in my fridge it says: "The right time is now - always..! "

Life is not a bed of roses for most of us but from time there are these moments.

Go your way - you are strong - accept this little inert "pet-tumor" and it will stay silent.

Allan, all my good wishes for you.

Pb.

Dear pornoboy,

It is so good to hear from you my old friend! (*8*)
Things are good at the moment. I continue to get stronger day by day.
The next results will be 13th July. Lets hope it shrinks further.

Whatever happens, I'm not going anywhere soon so I'm going to enjoy the 'now' and try not to think too far ahead.

Your message made me very happy today.

Love

Alan

Good tp see you Smiling Alan.

Was talking to a friend the other day and I was being a bit pissy

I said..."life sucks".......long pause and he looked at me and said

"So What, So does Gravity"

Gave me something to think about and I found a :D at the end.

Alan.....here's hoping NOTHING comes along to wipe off that silly assed Cheshire cat grin!!!!!!!!

I was thinking about this (crying) thing and this "thought" popped into my head. Gawd knows I've done enuff crying over "things" so i have decided that:

When someone / something tries to set our heart on fire - our tears are our way of putting out the flames !

Just thought I'd give you an update on the pesky lung tumour!

I saw my oncologist today and got the results of the latest scan.
Things are looking good guys. Although no further change in the size of the darn thing there is no evidence of any progression. He said that there were some nodules on the last scan which were causing concern (they could have been due to infection) but these have now disappeared.

There is still a 1 in 3 chance it may disappear of its own volition but the immediate outlook is that I live with it as it is. I have another CT scan in three months along with some breathing tests, and then it will be visits to the hospital every three months for x-rays to make sure it isn't growing again.

The Doc (I swear he is an Angel in human form - and I'm a little bit in love with him) says I have to get used to being the "new Alan" that has limitations.
But hell, I can live with that! ..|

I feel like I can look just that little bit further ahead now.
(*breathes sigh of relief*)

Many thanks for all your good wishes. It really does mean an awful lot to know that people care! (*8*)

And thanks to the lovely JUBber who sent me Maple Syrup all the way from New York. A very special and generous person.

Love and peace to all!

Alan

Alan,

I had no idea about this latest challenge to your equanimity.

Be aware, there are many of us here that will crawl out of their

holes and the woodwork to cheer you on. Your home team is of

a world-wide nature and we got your back my friend.

Keep in touch man, keep in touch.
