If you ever say you are "straight acting" that is a copout

No I can't. What the baggage of the term is, has been discussed in literally 90% of the topic. If you haven't noticed it, that says a lot about your reading comprehension. It's not a case of "I answered that in one post somewhere between pages 4-9"...

And this, my friends, is how you structure your argument when you admit defeat :)

I'm sorry, cream puff, which part of that post confused you into thinking it was an argument? Was it one of the longer words? Please, when you have nothing, don't try to cover it up by being condescending. You're really bad at it and you're only embarrassing yourself.

Second night in a row...

If you want to clean up some of that grimy failure, go read pages 1-4. Then you can come talk with the grown ups ^_^

"Worried"? Not at all. But how will they know I'm looking for company if I'm standing on the equivalent of a table-for-one?

Lex

Are you kidding? With a pose like this??? They'll know... they'll know.

*meow!*

I'd like to see what you look like before you go lifting the tail.

...you pass. Head around to the rear, and lift when ready. :)

Ohh wow. How embarrassed I feel! Oh boy! The pain. The sorrow. THE AGONY of this embarrassment that trickles through my bones to my very core. How shall I go on.

I'm sure you'll manage to go on, just like he will.

And we'll probably laugh at the both of you for doing so.

Although, as far as comedians go, Rolyo is reminding me of Chelsea Handler's solo performance. Unfunny, useless, un-charismatic, the complete opposite of the "heckle the heckler" comedy that put DL Hughley on the map.

Sometimes it helps if you quit while you're ahead(or behind), and then bounce back with new material.

Now if you're excuse me, it's my gay-acting day. Gotta catch up on Project Runway and America's Next Top Model - the latter left me on a cliffhanger! *bites nails in anticipation*

Fair enough. And I am a foreigner too, so I feel ya.

To answer your actual post from before - I was joking, although I do feel there is a bit of a douche quality to calling yourself SA.

As for "the first 10 pages" thing, I could say the same. Clearly we are not understanding each other. Also, so many people never got past the way I phrased things to actually read the things themselves, but that's my fault for phrasing them provocatively.

All that said though, there is nothing more I can add. The very defense of SA makes it redundant and illogical. If there isn't ONE straight behavior, then there can't be one gay behavior either. The fact someone feels they are so far removed from "teh gay" that they are more similar to some "straight" stereotype already proves there is no gay behavior to be the opposite of. If you are a gay guy who doesn't act like a stereotype, then that means not every gay guy acts the same way, which means there is no gay acting to be the opposite of.

The whole thing borders on the absurd.

Some food for thought: has anybody heard of a "white-acting" black/Asian guy? A "man-acting" woman? A "Muslim-acting" Christian? A "pedophile-acting" necrophile? Other than the last one, I am sure examples of all of the above can be found, but has anyone ever met a person that identified themselves like that? "Sure, I'm black, but I'm not like THOSE blacks you know, I'm white-acting"... Wuut?

Yeah but you live in Chicago, I only get my shair of English from the internet.

Redundant and illogical are the arguments over why can we use a word or not, too, as for your last paragraph, I´m not sure how the topics are related one with each other. A ¨man acting¨ woman is a tomboy, maybe?

Oh. Is this the big JUB weekly brouhaha?

So sorry I missed it. (I'll peruse.)

Then why are we even having the straight-acting discussion? Common use. Can we drop it now??

Ok ...then it's also common sense that no gay man should hide his sexuality and everyone should be out.

Yeah right.

A lot of people want to appear to be part of the hetero world because they are not out a) to themselves and b) to everyone else.

Being out is arguably the core of the issue here...

...and being proud of who you are.

Yes though Pride has a connotation that buys into a gay stereotype. You just have to be yourself. People in pride parades often go the other way but still this is in no way even a small justification for being SA...

I have a lot of pride in myself but I have a confession...I don't do pride. I used to have to work the party afterward to represent the nightclub I worked at until I figured out to volunteer to work in the bar on pride day.

I also DID go to a few of the early ones...

The reason...for me...being gay is a complete non issue. I have never hid it and I came out five minutes after it occurred to me I was gay...and I was done with it. No angst. No drama. I would much rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I'm not.

I am publicly "out" in small town America; everyone knows that I'm gay. However, I'm not RuPaul's Drag Race gay, so a lot of tourist girls try to put the "hey baby" on me. Furthermore, most of the strippers that my cousin has at his bar hit on me to no end ... maybe it's the unattainable goal for them for something.

straight acting = being masculine apparently

I resent that! I LOVE RuPaul's Drag Race and most other people I know who love it are waaaaay on the masculine side. That show is just way too awesome for people not to like it :p
