Is liking twinks pedophilia?

I am going to stick my neck out, but here goes:
Being a pedophile in and of it's self is not "wrong" inasmuch as it's not a choice, what is absolutely wrong is to act on the urges and desires of pedophilia.
It (pedophilia) is a wrong desire, but a person having a wrong desire and not acting upon it is being proper by constraining their urges.
I would say that one who avoids children or being alone with children because they know that they are attracted to them is being a
very responsible person.

How is that sticking one's neck out? I'd think that would be a swiftly ethical logic train, there. Well, I dispute the never-a-choice bit, a lot of people are and do a lot of different things for a lot of different reasons - but that's neither here nor there, really.

Sort of off topic but here goes,
I am wondering if a serial killer is a choice or not.
And are there many "potential" serial killers that did not act on it and have lived to the ripe old age.

It's a tough call with the issue of choice, I can't believe that one consciously decides to have an affinity for children.
I would liken it perhaps to one who dabbles in a drug, they chose to enter in to that domain by entertaining the thought and then one day an opportunity to try the drug comes along and they become an addict.
Perhaps not the best analogy, but it's late.

As to why the interest is there to begin with is up for grabs, I have read college text books about sexuality and from what I can recall
it listed 3 main reasons for pedophilia:
1. A conditioned offender, one who had his first definitive sexually encounter in an institutional environment and seeks to relive the experience.
2. A person who is emotionally inadequate when it comes to having an adult relationship, they feel inferior and seek to be in control by engaging in relationships with children.
3. The opportunistic offended, one who has latent desires for children and one day acts upon them when alone with a child, this is probably the most common offender, a relative or friend of the family.

It goes against the "Ewww..." factor.

If you dispute the "never a choice",. then you think that homosexuality is chosen?

I've also read research that points to:

4. Someone who had a very bad sexual experience as a child and is in some twisted way trying to "fix it", re-enacting to make it come out right.
5. Compulsive behavior.

But I think the above video, where it's made plain that a great many, apparently most pedophiles literally have their brains wired differently. All the above categories can be treated; the brain wiring not so much.

I think you'd be surprised at the reasons people have sex if you're whittling pedophilic behavior down to a single 'immutable and biologically urge-driven procreation ect ect' reason.

"Allowed"?

From watching the laws that have been passed, I'd say it's deliberate: it's always useful to politicians to have a group to persecute, and sex offenders are a great target -- even the rest of the criminal population loves to hate them, despite the fact that studies have shown that a bit short of 1/3 of all males in prison are sex offenders; they just didn't get caught.
Couldn't disagree. I love how you and I seem to always see very similar eyes on this sensitive topic; since it seems you have a great grasp on it.

Hey, our American prison population can't ever be large enough, right? We need more criminals to feel better about ourselves, and then we need ever increasing money to maintain them, right? (Despite the fact that we are trillions of dollars in debt! Well, maybe that's why we need prison workers working for the gov't. *smile, smile*)

As far as them prisoners already in prison goes: why not hate on them pedophiles? Hey, due to the stigmatization of their crime, what better way to feel better than to grab a scapegoat? .... They could just own up to their murders, but nope.:roll::roll::roll::roll:

The brain wiring thought is interesting, the video mentions common characteristics found in a number of pedophiles; a small stature, being left handed and a below average IQ.
I have found that when someone has had a stroke that the brain seeks a new route to communicate with the body, the damaged part of the brain no longer does its job so undamaged areas take over the chores. That's why re-hab and PT are so important after a stroke. My wife was paralyzed on her right side, her speech was damaged as the stroke was on the left side where the speech center is.
Hours of PT and working with OT recovered about 90% of her physical abilities and her aphasia though still there was brought under control so she could communicate better.

So, I wonder if those with shorter stature, being left handed and of lower intelligence are not rewired by their environment as opposed to their sexual desires being congenital?

I suppose it's a chicken or egg situation.

Yep, JUB hasn't changed one bit.

I've been called a "twink" before by a few men (which I don't even know if I agree or disagree with because I'm not even sure what the exact official "definition" is)...but do I think they were pedophiles just because they were attracted to me and called me a twink? Hell no. Of course they're not necessarily mutually exclusive, but if one links twink-liking to pedophilia as a cause-effect, they either don't know any better or have an agenda to push. ;)

I only skimmed this thread, but has anyone even defined what a twink is here? Yes, I know people have varying definitions of what a twink is, but unless there's something defined, you guys might not even be talking about the same thing.

That was the reason I only skimmed the thread and never posted as well.

The definitions of all of the "body type/attraction type" terms the gay community uses seem to vary from source to source. There is probably somebody out there who defines "twink" as "under 15-16, guys older than that are way too big and old looking to be twinks", so yeah, I suppose for that person liking twinks equals pedophilia. But since the definition isn't fixed it's kinda hard to address the question.

Exactly. I'm only uncomfortable with twink porn where it looks like the guy is 14-15 even though he's fully legal. I don't think it's an age thing, I think it's a disconcerting feeling when the guy, who is fully legal, appears to be under legal age.

^ Pretty much this.

I have no desire to have sex with someone who has to finish their high school book report after.

And the sexualization of children just totally creeps me the fuck out, including making legal age tricks look like they are dewy eyed and just reaching pubescence. ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

I'm gonna play devil's advocate here. If this is why you're uncomfortable with barely-legal twink porn (I agree with you on that, by the way), then you have to think about the ethics of censoring something according to your own personal morals. Obviously someone wants to see it, and it's fully legal. If it's legal, it should be allowed. I disagree with moral censorship because it leads to a very slippery slope.

I may not want to watch it, but that doesn't impede someone else's right to view the material. That's my thoughts about this in a nutshell.
