Exactly. The developer of XF changed the concept of private communications to make them a conversation. It's a conversation that you can also add people to at any time.
@frankfrank
I also forgot to mention- the switch to Conversation threads also gets rid of the annoying limit on the maximum number of PMs that we had in the old forum. I've been around since 2007 and in the old forum, I was having to delete PMs weekly because I kept maxing out my mailbox quota.

No more! 👯‍♂️

That was just to check! (y)

Oddly, the advertising banners which I was only seeing before I logged in are now (annoyingly) showing up when logged in too. Both feature full frontals, so HT has become NSFW after all. I'll recheck my security settings to see whether I can block them.

I just noticed that you didn't have a JUB Supporter upgrade. The upgrade gets rid of the banners.

As I recall, it was that way with the old software as well.

I haven't been a JUB supporter for several years, but didn't have to endure intrusive advertising. I'd happily revert to the old software right now.

You shouldn't see anything now but if you do let me know. Sorry about that. :P

Thanks for trying, but I can still see the advertising at the top and bottom of HT page 1.
Very odd. Let me go through the settings. Sorry for any inconvenience

I really like the look and feel of the new forums. I am looking for a place that will allow me to determine how many posts I see per page. Is this an option that we have control over? Thanks again, for the upgrade, I love it!! AND a SPECIAL THANKS for Dark Mode!!

I raised it so you should be a lot more now. :P

The new look is clean but unless I'm being blind I cannot see a quick way to access private messages or conversations as they are called now from the mobile site. I can access them if I force desktop mode but I would have thought modern forum setups would have mobile use in mind too.

In mobile, are you able to see the envelope icon in the upper right hand corner next to your name?

Normally, if you click on it once, it will open your unread messages. Click on it twice and it will open the complete list.

I cannot see the envelope icon or my name at the top of the page. I can only see them if I force desktop mode.

I have noticed if I use the mobile site in landscape it shows at the top of the page but not in portrait mode. Very strange that in portrait mode it looks like it is rendering but it gets stuck too high up and can't be viewed.

I did a quick emulation test to mimic what the site looks like in mobile. In the unzoomed version, the screen hides menus and icons. In this view, you have to hover over the icons or click on the collapsed menu button to get to the other features.

Viewing the screen in portrait mode, when I zoomed in, I was able to hover over the icons to get to them.

When I switched over to landscape, the icons appeared automatically.

Whoa, that is just odd. It works but seems unintentional. Guess I will just have to learn where the hidden icons are haha

Yeah, the developer opted to "de-busy" the screen in portrait when it's not zoomed on the phone. When I tested it out this morning, I was like, "WTF happened to all the menus?" and then I saw the tiny collapsed menu bars and realized that they were there if you click or hover over them.

Glad it's working for you now!

Everything is fixed. Here is what the software company said.

Your site is very image heavy, with many images being hotlinked/embedded from other sites which are not SSL (https).

As a result, the XF software creates a local cached copy of the image, to prevent insecure certificate issues when people are browsing your site.
did I break Jub?
