Re: Can Janet Jackson Have a Comeback?

In other words HELL NO. Her "career" is deader than Michael.

Whatever happened to her single " Make me"? Buried faster than Michael corpse.

Her career is dead in no way, shape, or form.

Make Me was released as a gift to the fans on her website and I-Tunes. There was no official release date for it to hit the airwaves.

She has the #1s album out November, her book and new out album in Spring, Why Did I Get Married Too in April, and a world tour late 2010.

Re: Can Janet Jackson Have a Comeback?

She's gone. And her Discipline album was tight. Feedback was very good but it was only received as lukewarm by the radio. It's a wrap now for her- which sucks.

Re: Can Janet Jackson Have a Comeback?

I think Janet can make a comeback without changing anything. I love her new single "Make Me".

Re: Can Janet Jackson Have a Comeback?

Yeah, she can, but she needs to the people who produced her hits Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis in her corner but not having Jermaine Dupri controlling everything. Actually, I looked at her break-up with him as a positive.

Re: Can Janet Jackson Have a Comeback?

No, she doesn't need to. I still have her songs from the Control album on my iPod. And I wasn't even born when Control was released.

Re: Can Janet Jackson Have a Comeback?

i hope she can, really love Janet. I think Discipline was a great album that didn't get the attention it deserved. Does anyone know if the Rock witch tour will be released on dvd?

Re: Can Janet Jackson Have a Comeback?

She defintely can! Her problem is radio. They are not supporting her. Mariah went through this before. She'll be back. I love the new single as well.

Re: Can Janet Jackson Have a Comeback?

If Jam and Lewis can produce a hit R&B Album and single for Chaka Khan then surely they can get together and work on some cuts for Janet..

Janet is just 40something and MaDonna breezed through succesful Albums in her 40's...Both have Mediocre voices along with a loyal fan-base..

I think the ball is in Janet's corner..Is the new single from the #1's getting air-play? If the CD drops in November the new single should have been released this month..

Re: Can Janet Jackson Have a Comeback?

They'll need to sell the sizzle not the steak. The song really doesn't matter as long as it's not terrible. Ideally, it'll be a song about surviving and carrying on, although not one blatantly about "so my brother died..." Just a generic "you'll always be with me as I soldier on" sort of thing. Then, market it as a major comeback/survivor story, and people will flock to it.

Re: Can Janet Jackson Have a Comeback?

There's always interest in Janet. She'll never sell "janet." numbers again (20 million WW, impossible today) and she might never have a string of #1s, but she STILL releases music. Her aim isn't to be the biggest and best artist, her popularity peaked in the 90s. We're all aware of that.

She's still working because she LOVES it. And you may call her a flop or a has been, but how many of us can say we've been in the same industry for 37 years? Let alone show business.

From child star to super star isn't the best transition, let alone with detractors trying to bash and take credit from you because of your last name or for an overblown incident.

Take your hat off to this bitch, because if it wasn't for her or many other female artists today, music would NOT be the same! Janet's offspring are at the top of the game today (Britney, Beyonce) and many others have been influenced by her. So don't think for one second she's done.

Re: Can Janet Jackson Have a Comeback?

Thank you and youre welcome.

One thing I really need to touch on is slipping album sales. Blame it on I-Tunes, Limewire, or the economy, record sales are DOWN. So I'm pretty sure we'll start to see artists shift from the regular single release to radio and then digital release. Profits are getting meager and soon physical albums will be done.

So I'm sure Janet will be able to keep up with the times. :)

Re: Can Janet Jackson Have a Comeback?

I gave up on her when "janet" came out. Rhythm Nation was such a great album and everything after that was just so... calculated. Janet was cool when she was kinda angry and serious.

Once she started being all happy and smiling in her videos, I lost interest.

Re: Can Janet Jackson Have a Comeback?

Agreed. I loved Janet during her chubby/bashful/serious/militant stage. Rhythm Nation was up and down brilliance. As soon as she dropped 50 lbs. and started being a "sexy" co-ed, she became run of the mill and the music turned to junk.

In other words, you guys are fans of pop/rock, but not a fan of a pop/R&B album...

>>>In other words, you guys are fans of pop/rock, but not a fan of a pop/R&B album...

A bit of a stretch. I live R&B and soul as much as the next person, but good R&B actually comes from the soul. You feel it, you believe it. I actually some songs on janet. ("Again" is one of my favorites), and although I didn't much care for Velvet Rope, I appreciated her attempting to push outwards. But since then, I haven't heard a song from her that moved me more than "Yeah, I guess that song's OK." Many of her songs have been "sultry", but to me, the best seductive tracks seduce you without making you feel like you're being seduced. Her songs end up being more like that creepy guy who shoots you dirty looks, blatantly rubs his crotch, and drools. Instead of drawing me in, they made me say "Uh, yeah, no thanks."

Re: Can Janet Jackson Have a Comeback?

sadly NO. she hasnt had a career when she orchestrated nipplegate and backfired. rollingstones or time did a review on her which was dead on: it said that now she's 40 she should give the sultry cooing cum ons a break. i love her cds from control to velvet rope but everything seems downhill and rehashed from there.

Is it Janet's best material? No. Is it a great dance/club track? Yes. I like the track and I know I'm going to bump it soon.
