On-Topic Jill Stein just called for a recount in 3 states Trump barely won

In a proportional voting system, you can vote for minor parties and they can enter parliament.
In a first past and post system, those parties can only get in through safe seats.
Useful for forums like the congress.

For leadership votes in either system, if there are multiple candidates from the same side of the political divide, they will divide their voters. Think mayoral elections: if a single conservative candidate faces three liberal candidates of various flavours, the liberal vote is split and the conservative candidate can win with as little as 26% of the vote.

Presidential elections with multiple candidates would be no different, even in a proportional system.

But if voting is by party, that's not going to happen: if there are x seats, and v voters, then it effectively takes v/x votes to get a seat. The only way to have a fractional situation, then, is at the edges, where the total votes left for a party are less than v/x.

For presidential elections, the electoral college isn't going away, but for the House it could be done as above, within state delegations. In fact, it would arguably be constitutional for states to band together and let their fractional votes pool to decide those outcomes.

That mother fucking bitch did her best during the campaign months to ensure a Trump in. She now wants more attention because she's an attention whore.

Fuck that bitch and her green party fanatics. They have been working very hard to give elections to conservatives. Fuck that bitch Jill Stein. This is the 2nd time the green party gave the election to the Republicans. Fuck the green party.

I can't find any state where the Green vote, if added to Clinton's, would have made a difference.

OK, but...SOMETHING happened on November 8. If it wasn't an election, then WHAT is it called?

Technically the "votes" for president were advisory votes to indicate to the electors what the will of the state was.

Maybe, but aren't ridings also open to Gerrymandering, or not?

The moment you draw lines for who is represented you've made districts, and yes, those are subject to gerrymandering. So, yeah, it depends on how you do the multiparty system, and it would have to be voting for party, not candidate (though I can imagine a system that would do both). In California, there would be at least a half dozen parties sent to the House the first time such a system was tried, while in smaller states you wouldn't get that kind of diversity; still, it would be an improvement, and it's as far as can be gone without a constitutional amendment.

The double standard here is so palpable. "I'm not voting for her and it has nothing to do with her being a woman, but the people who are voting for her can only be voting for her because she is a woman."

This is the last time I am posting towards you because it is very clear you are here to pick a bone, to antagonize and disrupt threads with the same narrative you have been the whole election process.

You misrepresented what he said; he did NOT make the assertion in your first paragraph, final clause.

What a shocker ... looks like Hillary Clinton's campaign is [STRIKE]orchestrating[/STRIKE] joining the recount efforts after all.

What was amusing was that Hillary Clinton supporters chastised Donald Trump for failing to accept the election results if he would lose, but it is the Hillary supporters who are the ones doing just that. Hypocritical much?

Wait a minute -- the only statement in that article that Clinton is involved in any way at all comes from a Trump supporter.

Are you asserting Trump supporter tweets as objectively reliable sources?

Technically the "votes" for president were advisory votes to indicate to the electors what the will of the state was.

Technically, Donald Trump is not yet President-Elect.

I read it, but as Hillary Clinton herself said, you need both a public position and a private position.

I think the most interesting item in that link is this:

"*CLINTON ADMITS SHE IS OUT OF TOUCH*"

She and Romney make a good pair, on that aspect.

But then so does Trump, and so does any professional politician: they're clueless about the real country.

Given that your claim flatly contradicts his plain statements above, the burden is on you to make your case.

And since you really haven't been around for the majority of the time he has been saying these things, I don't see where you have to a leg to stand on to doubt this.

Hillary Clinton's losing campaign getting Trolled in Michigan, Wisconsin by Jill Stein

Green party presidential candidate Jill Stein has called for a recount in Michigan, Wisconsin and PA where the vote for president was close.

What is interesting about Stein's strategy is that Michigan and Wisconsin are state where had Stein's votes gone to Clinton, Clinton would have won those states, bringing Clintons EV vote to 258. Clinton couldn't even capitalize on Johnson's votes, which undoubtedly would have gone 50-50 or leaned towards Trump in places like Pennsylvania, where Clinton very much lost on her own. Pretty pathetic.

This begs the question, is Stein really concerned with the actual vote in Michigan and Wisconsin, or is the Green party using this wonderful opportunity to say a final "fuck you" to the corporate democrats by the Green party who helped play a role in taking down the democratic establishment?

Who knows. When will democrats learn this hard taught lesson? :D

More can be said of Gary Johnsons influence than Jill Stein or the electoral college, who undoubtedly pulled votes from trump at least 50% if not more. You cant scapegoat Stein without wondering how a democrat could lose a 4 way race when their 3rd place opponent was taking votes against the 2nd place opponent, all you had to worry about was progressives?

Sit and spin my friend.

The progressive voice was once again ignored in the election, and proved ourselves to be one of the key factors in preventing a corporate shill like Hillary Clinton into the white house.

Clinton was never ahead in the electoral college, our votes mattered way more than your corporate money ever will.

I just read the Clinton Campaign letter on FB about the recount.

If you go back the week before the actual election...I said that there was gonna be a problem in Michigan..and I gave Trump the win even when most of the polls said otherwise. I said it right here actually.....

The reason..the Russians successfully hacked the Democrats throughout the process...I have no illusions that they did not try and succeed to do the same with the voting machines. It would be naive to think they "left that part alone".....too many respected polls aren't wrong....

I also noted that these same people invented a false narrative and then used it as an excuse to explain "why" it happened. I don't believe them...I smell bullshit. We already know TWO MILLION MORE PEOPLE voted for Clinton....

Some of these Bernie plants on the Internet....they had me convinced ALMOST until I went to Santa Cruz which is Bernie Central and was expecting them to gloat and say I told you so based on what I saw on the Internet...but the exact opposite was true. They all voted for Clinton..happily...and that further confirmed my suspicions. You would have to understand how progressive these guys are to understand why I questioned the results...and why I think this is a false narrative.....real progressives voted for the person who would further their interests even if they had to plug their nose to do it. Trump plants and anarchists...not so much....

The only good thing for me...I was kinda happy he won so I didn't have to hear the Hillary hate and conspiracy bullshit for another four years...I am tired. It is ugly and mostly untrue...it is like listening to right wing Christians 24/7 drone on about sins and hell...UGH....and when I would rather listen to the Christians than the Hillary haters...I know I have truly had enough.
