I'm going to copypasta this rant from that I wrote on my tumblr page about the SJW's reaction to Joan Rivers' death.

This rant is not directed to all of Tumblr, but to certain numbers of Social Justice Warriors on that site.

To all of the SJWs talking shit about Joan Rivers after she died, FUCK YOU! You are nothing more than a bunch of fucking disrespectful pieces of god damn fucking human gutter trash. You fuckers preach about “equality for all human beings” which is all well and good, I am NOT saying that it’s a bad thing to be for equality. But to go and say that kind of DISGUSTING fucking shit about Joan Rivers just because she was a very non-politically correct person is so unbelievably repugnant.

Literally, I searched the #joanrivers tag and the VERY first thing I see is a text post with over 4,000 likes that said “Fuck Joan Rivers. I hated her and I’m glad she’s dead.” EXCUSE ME? Let’s back this bitch up. Now, to say “fuck Joan Rivers, I hated her” is simply a matter of opinion. Not everybody loved her humor. Some will say that her jokes were racist, xenophobic, anti-Semitic(she was a jew herself, mind you) and anti-gay….In reality, her brand of funniness was brusque and politically incorrect humor. That’s what made her a superstar. In reality, she never had a hateful bone in her body and she was actually a supporter of AIDS patients and anti-suicide foundations….

But to fucking say that you’re GLAD she’s fucking dead is just BEYOND fucking disgusting. Way to be JUST as bad as the people you hate, assholes. You hate it when you say that all (black/gay/trans/) people should died, but that does NOT give you the right to fire that back at someone. Especially someone who really was not a hater of anything.

No offense, but if you go hang out on sites where anyone could tell you you're going to see sheltered tweenty something boys armchairing about everything, like 4chan or tumblr forums, what are we supposed to say/do about it? Why aren't you saying this over there?

Yeah Joan Rivers was pretty horrible if I am honest. If she wanted to go around in life making pretty callous remarks about the death of women and children, goes round making trans jokes and plenty more, fuck it, she can be abused in death. I think its all a bit pointless hating on here right now, its immature - but we don't have to be nice about horrible people just because they died.

I saw Joan Rivers live at a supper club a couple of years ago. I never laughed so hard and so long. My jaws ached.

I don't think it is really worth getting upset over, people say shit on the internet they normally wouldn't express in the real world and being happy that someone is dead is one of them. There are people that are glad that Fred Phelps is dead, isn't that just as wrong? I mean it is not like his death changed anything and people still exist that spread hate as much as he did.

This constant apologist for comedians is what really bothers me about things like this, she could make as much real ignorant and or really insensitive comments as she like but people will excuse her for it because she was a comedian. Apparently comedians are never serious and everything they say is a joke.

Yeah, but the thing about death and Rememberances is so many people love to deify the dead. That's probably at least 3/4 of why there's backlash on Joan River's various eulogies, rememberances and "What A Great Woman" speeches.

Now, I do remember her comedy - I thought it was unoriginal and uninspired with the added bonus of often encouraging discrimination. That said, she did make great strides, if not for women then at least for herself, in a very difficult industry. So kudos to her on that, but that's about it.

I suggest avoiding tumblr discussions on topics that make you erratic/pissed off/so upset emotionally, much better for your mental health that way, I find.

Agree with you xboxfan---but also think you should stay off those tumblr sites---And you are correct in pointing out her numerous charities especially the gay community---as far as her comments on Israel go---many Palestinians hate Hamas and all the pain they are inflicting on their own people---and her point about NY and NJ is true.;) If you are gay-- Israel is the only democratic country in the Mideast that protects gays and gay rights.

Oh, have I got some comedic rants that. Think I've gone on about that here before, actually, or at least in the same vein. It's lazy 'comedy', is what that is. A good riff flirts or points to an overarching concept or action, a bad riff is where the quip is the goal. Fer instance, focusing on Elizabeth Taylor and having the joke be her fat ass lacks a certain...something, shall we say.

Joan knew how to deal out the punishment, and she sure as hell knew how to take it. Opportunists telling the world how glad they are she's dead and that she was "too mean" and "deserved to die" for talking about their favorite celebrity, cause, or orientation, are hypocrites smiling with glee, exhibiting the very behavior they claimed to loathe in her. As for excusing her biting commentary because she's a comedienne, no, people don't do that - see Gilbert Gottfried and Jason Biggs for recent examples.

We're discussing this topic on another forum, friend of mine typed something concise, figured I'd share it.

"Also, let me get this straight: If I were to make an easy-to-think-of joke (and there are several that immediately spring to mind) that insults Rivers, that's a-okay. Because humour is supposed to push boundaries and whatever. But, if I actually engage in criticism of her work instead, that's not a-okay? How is that at all consistent?"
