Lost: The Final Season!!!!!! Feb. 2, 2010!!

After sleeping on it, I'm going to have lean on the side that thinks this episode was a huge misstep. With only 3 and half hours left, we should be feeling more near to closure. But I feel farther away after last night. The episode seemed non-Lostian. They should have just left Jacob's and MIB's history to our imagination. If this is the only explanation of the smoke monster's origin we will get, I'd rather it also had been left to my imagination.

Damon & Carlton no doubt had alot of hate mail to wade through today for dropping the ball on this one, especially so near to the end. Instead of things coming together, they are still falling apart. It's starting to look as if our worst fears are getting realized; that they really were making things up along the way and Lost really did not ever have an underlying secret as we were lead to believe for six years. I'm a little less excited for the finale, and that's not a good thing.

In short, I think we may be getting the X-Files treatment here.

Truly as I was watching the show last night I felt totally detached from Lost. It so reminded me of an old Biblical tale - like Cain and Abel, the prodigal son, etc. When the show was over I didn't feel any more enlightened than I had before, just perplexed and feeling weird. It DID NOT feel like anything attached to the Lost I have loved and hated and praised and detested through these years. :grrr: ](*,)

Why is everyone complaining!!?? LOSTIES have constantly said they wanted to know Jacob's and MIB's background.....they got it. I myself never considered that they were brother's. Plus, now we see why Flock/MIB wants to leave so badly. Having seen that episode, I have now gone back to seeing Flock as misguided, not purely evil. His build up of rage over the centuries has turned him bad.

Well I loved it !!!!

But thats normal some people are frustrated, nobody is going to happy when they answer mysteries

The scene towards the end, where Jack, Kate and Locke find the game pieces and the bodies; was that from another season to tell us that the creators had envisioned this ending all along. Or was it a new scene from this season in an attempt to tie it all together? I've watched all of the season but I'm a little Lost #-o

I pretty sure it's from season one. I think I remember Jack and Kate having the conversion, but I don't remember Locke being there.

I was pondering this last nite------what if...........

Most of the entire series, about the lives of the 815 passengers, has been just a Red Herring. The TRUE story has been in the background all along. The show, LOST, is about........

JACOB AND HIS BROTHER.

THAT is the reason for last weeks episode. I'm thinking that the finals hour/hours of the series are going to flip from the perspective of the Losties, to the perspective of Jacob and MIB/Flock who have been using people as pawns for centuries. Jacob brings people to the Island, knowing that one day his brother WILL succeed in killing him, and he will need a replacement. The Islands magical properties do have to be protected, and he knew he would not always be there to do it....he just did not know when his brother would succeed. The MIB manipulates people into trying to kill his brother for him. Something that he himself cannot do. Now, finally MIB has succeeded in his task. THAT is the true story of LOST. Two brothers one a true believer, one misguided, fighting for control of this very special Island over many centuries. What we have seen is the ones who happened to be there when "Jacobs time" (to die), had come.

It wouldn't have been so bad if the finale was not in only 2 weeks. But with the end so near, this episode just seemed more focused on raising more questions than truly answering others. The episode actually said to us "there is no point in asking questions, because they will only lead to more questions." That was a bit of a smack in our faces with the end so near, truly discouraging for those who have had faith in the producers of this show since the beginning. It felt like a cop out.

But they can still redeem themselves in the next two weeks. I don't expect every little question answered, but I do expect an ending that both surprises yet makes some sense in the context of what we have seen for six years.

'Lost' producer: Ending will prompt more questions ](*,)

"Lost" co-creator Damon Lindelof tells THR the crew built new sets for the final moments of the ABC hit drama and that fans should expect to ask themselves, "What did they mean by this?" after the show ends.
"We did not shoot the final scene of the series on the final day ... for reasons of maintaining the secrecy of the show, and we had to build some sets for the finale -- the construction of the new sets took awhile so that's the work that we did last," Lindelof said.

I just discovered that "The End" airs on Sunday night, May 23. I never knew that; I assumed it would be on the following Tuesday. Good thing I checked my listings, I might have missed it#-o

only Lost could pull off an episode without any of the main characters with just a few left

I'm debating.......should I watch the last two episodes when they air tonite, and Sunday, or should I just skip it and watch them in a few months when it comes out on DVD?........

(just kid'n! I am SO psyched! In a week from now, LOST will be a thing of the past...wow.....)

eeeeeehhh.....I won't say anything, but turning points came about a little too quickly for me. Did not seem realistic. Anyone......? (p.s., let's wait till tomorrow to debate specifics)

too quickly? Um, dude. The final show is in 4 days.

but. .
I'm pissed that they killed off Widmore before him explaining what he has been doing ever since we met him several seasons ago. Again, they seemed to take the easy way out. They had no explanation, so they had Ben kill him. All this invested time in his story, and for what?

Little pissed too. But I will wait until Sunday to make the final judgement. I may have a lot of questions.

I am getting a little sad. A lot of my shows are ending this year. Now I have to start looking for new shows and be able to pick one that isn't going to get canceled in a year.

I wonder if the writers of "Lost" are retarded: In the latest episode, Ben decided to help Locke/Smokey because Locke promised Ben that he can own the whole island, and at the end of the episode Locke says he wants to destroy the island? WTF! Can't say Ben is retarded, must be the writers...

Actually....Ben said o.k. to that, not for control of the Island.....remember Widmore is responsible for Ben's daughters death. I do not think Flock's offer of the Island influenced him. It was his need for revenge. Flock said to Widmore "If you do not tell me what I want to know, I will kill your daughter." Ben then shot Widmore (not realizing that this is what Flock wanted) saying "He doesn't get to save his daughter." In reference to Ben's own daughters murder.
When I said that things moved too simply and quickly last nite, I was talking about scenes like Jacob...at the campfire, surrounded by the "candidates"------I WILL NEED ONE OF YOU TO VOLUNTEER TO TAKE MY PLA....."All right. I'll do it!". Jack accepting the position so quickly seemed a bit contrived. Other scenes were like that too. Sideways John suddenly becoming a believer in "something is happening".....

The whole season has been leading up to the things you mentioned: Jack taking over for Jacob, sideways Lock's awakening. I don't see how these things came too quickly for anyone.

One part that I did like last night was when the sideways gang was brought to Hugo by Ana Lucia. Hugo addresses Ana by her name, even though he never met her in that time line. He apparently has "awakened" and is in on Desmond's plan. This concert they are going to should be quite an unusual performance.

And it should be no surprise when we find out Jack's unnamed wife is Juliet. Her dying words "it worked" referring to the glimpse she got in her other life with Jack.

Flock says he wants to destroy the Island. I wonder (plus---with the final episode title being THE END) whether the Island will have to end up being blown up,...in order to get the two timelines to "match". Of course, on the other hand, what would be the purpose of the "Sideways Losties" finding eachother........(I am so confused. ;))

The only connection I would make between the two story lines in this season is that the people on the island had to make a lot of sacrifices so they can go back on the plane together and re-live their life as it is in the side-way story line (As we can notice, that the side-way story is not simply a story where the plane never crashes, all characters' life is to some extent better than the old flashbacks we've seen during earlier seasons). I think what Desmond tries to do in the side-way story is simply try to re-connect everyone so they'll know what they've all been through together...

Therefore, I think it's still gonna be a happy ending, even though the cast and crew have hinted a very sad ending, but hey, they HAVE told us lies about the plot before: Elizabeth Mitchell has provided some false information about "Lost" on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Nevertheless, I do hope she will show up for the series finale.
