Marvtha threads should be in Fun and Games

ok, i recently read through a few pages of marvtha's "shrink" thread.
thats not what i call a "conversation," it's what i call "chat," and roleplay chat at that. I don't believe for a minute that the members who state that they are going dumpster diving and having an orgy are actually doing those things - it's a game of pretend.

"comedy" can often be painful when, behind all the giggles, we come face-to-face with a social issue, or insight into the human condition. I didn't see any of that occurring in that thread. Mostly it was a bunch of people talking about deviant ways to screw each other, and who is "doing" what to whom.

I wanted to start a thread about my declining interest in JUB, and the forums here...I HAVE considered spending less time in "hot topics" and more time in politics because either i have become less needy of the sort of social connection i find here, or because the quality of that connection has really gone downhill.

ive spent a good portion of the last 48 hours here at JUB because ive been terribly depressed. You know what? I think I need to get out of the house.....

I personally don't care where the threads end up. If they get moved to F&G, am I going to throw a fit? No.

Do I care who's reading the threads and who's not?

No.

Am I a recognition-seeker wanting an audience?

No.

It makes no difference to me either way.

Yes, we're playing a game. Does anyone honestly believe we're doing the things we say we're doing? We're just playing and having fun. And that's all. We're not hurting anybody. We're not trying to offend anybody. We're not trying to piss people off. We're not trying to make people 'hate' us simply because we participate in threads that many of you don't agree with. I'm here to have fun and take a break from everyday bullshit. Not to offend people or piss them off. I simply get involved in certain conversations and they just kind of go from there. Whatever, no biggie.

Again, it makes no difference to me. If the mods wanna move marvtha's threads, then whatever, they move the threads. It's not going to bother me either way.

i have noticed that we have been agreeing on a few things lately.

i think that time here makes certain things wearisome....

alternates are like a kid with a drum in the corner. they are cute at first, but they become diruptive and hard to ignore after a short while.

i eventually apologised for the dissention my alternate created. Ipublicly apologised for the experiment. the difference here is that it took me 2 weeks to concede that the dissention it created did not validate my personal need to have some fun.

i know the inside perspective on this one, so the pro marvtha guys cant say i dont understand.

when i posted for those two weeks as Eddy monsoon, many people thought it was funny, many people got annoyed and a few could have cared less. I came to realize that my personal fun wasn't worth the dissention that it created. without being known to the other members you feel like you can say anything. that kind of selfish freedom just hurts the community.

i can tell you guys this...

i dont open threads anymore anywhere. i just hover the pointer over the thread and read the first line of the first post. if it doenst seem like a real thread i just move on to the next.

marvtha and that type of threads is why. So you have to ask yourself... is it worth people not participating in general?

Well I too had an alter ego, although it wasn't a funny one, it was a younger guy coming out who was based mostly on me, partially on my little brother and on the guy my brother was dating at the time "Bill".

It was really just to be a counter-balance to all the "Woe is me, I hate being gay and I want to die" threads in the coming out forum, but as good as my intentions were, I too agree it was the wrong thing to do.

It seems to me that, with all of the fun loving/clever guys that post on this site, the Fun and Games forum could easily become a gay version of Mad Magazine.

Putting all of the popular (?) fun and game type threads there would be a good start if you’re concerned about increasing traffic to that forum.

Saying that it’s some sort of wasteland, and continuously pointing out that no one goes there certainly isn’t going to help.


Didn’t the word gay imply fun and light-heartedness at one time? What happened to that?

Shouldn’t this site have one of the best Fun and Games forums on the Internet?

there are so many topics in Hot topics that don't Strictly belong here as it is i would say 95% could be moved to other forums so why even have hot topics there is no point
except that it is a bunch of diverse threads covering all subsections of JUB Politics sports current affairs celibritys personal problems and Fun and games there all here and probably all on the first page

It seems to me that the real whiners and babies are the Marvtha fans.

You'll notice that I (or Ben or Andreus or Inwood or any of the people who find endless joke threads in the Hot Topics area distracting) have never made a personal attacks on Jadin himself, but man, some people have been very liberal handing them out... not that I care... the people who do that are the 4th graders to be honest, and slags about my job and my brother's incarceration or my failed relationship with my family and I just file under "Childish attempted low blow" and write the person off forever.

I should also point out that I don't care what people think. If I was worried about what people thought, I'd not have brought it up.

I really don't see why a joke thread about made up characters needs to be in Hot Topics when it's obviosuly just meant to be some fun. In fact, the people who defend it so harshly are the ones who are saying "this is just supposed to be a little fun" but seem to not really believe it.
