Mass shooting at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando Florida: Political Discussion [SPLIT]

You cannot base a claim of hypocrisy upon your guess what others might do. I did not hear what Trump said or what he means, but i guarantee that many Republican would scream if he increases immigration, legally or illegally.

You were just a few posts ago guessing what Clinton might do. Where was that?
More hypocrisy.

Found it in a thread adjacent. Something about the fifth supreme court judge.

^ My computer doesn't "like" that NYT page for some reason. I can't get it to load. What does it say?

It shows the timeline of what happened on the night of the shooting.

I use google chrome and that works.

I did not accuse anyone of hypocrisy, on my guess or otherwise/

This. Get the fucking assault weapons out of the hands of civilians. Or everyone but the military for that matter.

^ Furthermore, if anybody is found to be in possession of these weapons, treat them as contraband - similar to what happens when somebody is found with heroin. We HAD a law like that in the Nineties, at least with regard to new sales, and it didn't curtail people's liberties, and mass shootings weren't common.

There is no law that would stop ALL of this entirely. I doubt that even North Korea is 100% immune from terrorism. (Of course, if there is a terrorist act there, it will NEVER be disclosed to the world.)

The LA Times reports a witness saying that Omar asked if there were any Blacks. Some responded there were and Omar said "I don't have a problem with black people, this about my country. You guys have suffered enough."

That's the same publication that's just published another witness claiming he hated black people www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-orland...complained-multiple-1465777922-htmlstory.html

At this point, there are too many conflicting statements to assert anything about his motivations or character, other than his actions and targets.

So you want to confiscate millions of people's hunting rifles.

We had a law like that before, and federal law enforcement concluded it accomplished absolutely nothing.

It was also before we were such a terrorist target. And if terrorists want actual military weapons, they can get them -- for example, the Mexican police lose well over a thousand guns ever year on average, and Mexican drug cartels are now reported to be selling guns to their "partners" in the U.S. This is at the same time that California reports more and more privately made guns used in all kinds of crime.

The former head of Interpol had it right: the only way to deal with incidents like this is either harden all possible targets, which would cost more than a few billions, or arm the populace.

^ That would make the gun dealers and the NRA very very rich and happy.

This wasn't a hunting rifle, which (the ones I'm familiar with from earlier in my life) requires loading a new shell every time you want to shoot with it. A hunting rifle is a one-shot affair; the hunter gets only one shot. After that shot, the target, and any other possible target, scurries away in a hurry whether it's deer, pheasants, squirrels, or...

Hunting rifles have NEVER been banned, nor should they ever be.

The AR-15 is indeed a weapon of warfare.

You do realize that if Hillary is elected the five-liberal majority will dramatically limit the 2d amendment?

People like Kuli have to make a decision as to whether they support Trump or Clinton, if they're choosing to vote.
Backing either candidate on one issue means backing them on all issues.

Voting is a zero sum game. The choice to not vote is voting, because it gives other voters more power by default.

People have to decide which candidate, overall, is better for the country.
It's too easy for single issues to win votes. After the election, the winning candidate uses every vote (no matter what cause people were voting for) as a mandate for all other policies they plan to introduce.

Re: Florida Gay Club PULSE has been attacked with injuries, and possible hostage situation.

American liberals would not settle for ending AK 47s and machine guns.

I'm for banning everything that allows one to easily slaughter a full room full of people in a matter of seconds. Machine guns, nerve gas, C4, you name it.

You can't do that with a single fire weapon with a small ammo clip. You can't do it with a knife or a baseball bat.

Are you able to offer up any rational reason anyone should be against that?

Noteworthy...

...and a reminder to all, that ones right to vote, is a hard won privilege that should be used to serve the common good.

And remember, states cannot check your ID, so if you vote twice or in the name of a dead person, you can nullify a Republican vote.

^ Or has been demonstrated in the few actual cases of voter fraud...you can nullify the vote of a Democrat.
