Mass shooting at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando Florida: Political Discussion [SPLIT]

It isn't the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution nor the NRA and their conservative syncopates that are stopping sensible gun legislation here in the USA. It's the sheer quantity of firearms in private citizen hands: http://www.vox.com/2015/10/5/9454161/gun-violence-solution?yptr=yahoo&ref=yfp

The Constitution can be revised. We should stop with the half-measures and begin the fight to overturn the 2nd amendment. It won't happen in our generation but the process can be started.

A former head of Interpol concluded that the only way to stop these kind of incidents is to either harden every potential target, turning our countries into utter security states where papers are needed at all times in all places, or arm the populace.

The former is impossible, and would require so much in tax money that we'd have to end all social programs to even attempt it.
The latter, as the Constitution contemplates, is the only way to guarantee the security of a free state.

Just stop it. You've said enough. Please.

Re: Florida Gay Club PULSE has been attacked with injuries, and possible hostage situation.

People on military bases don't carry guns. Except for security personnel, they're gun-free zones.

If you honestly believe what you wrote, then why aren't you advocating to take away guns from police and the military? If guns are ineffective, we should get rid of all of them.

I don't want to take away guns from the police and military. I'd like to keep them out of the hands of criminals and insane people. The SWAT team in Orlando waited hours before going into the nightclub. If the killer didn't have a military assault weapon, they would not have had to wait I suspect, but could have rushed in much earlier.

Hola Bitches, soooooooooooo...................

Once again we have the same conversation, a few people calling for sane regulation, a few kiddies trying to sound like bad-asses, Kuli in with the apologia - are we done yet?

I just have to say one more time, I have no problem with gun ownership, I have a problem with gun OWNERS!

REGULATE!

(...and yes that's perfectly constitutional, telling your crazy hater ass that you have to wait a week for your instrument of murder does not violate the second amendment... No Kuli it does NOT)

Other places, sanity wins,

On Thursday, the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that Americans do not have a constitutional right to carry concealed guns in public. “The 2nd Amendment may or may not protect to some degree a right of a member of the general public to carry a firearm in public,” Judge William A. Fletcher wrote for the majority. “If there is such a right, it is only a right to carry a firearm openly.”

Now if only we can get Texas into the Ninth circuit.

^ It is all depressingly familiar isn't it?

The ammosexuals making any argument to get more assault weapons into more hand with less regulation, the people from countries with bans on these weapons simply aghast at the refusal for lawmakers to act, the sane voices who keep pointing to the fact that the majority of Americans want better gun regulations......

And like every other time, in about a week, something else that Donald says or a Kardashian does will dominate the news cycle and this tragedy will just simply be another benchmark statistic until the next time that someone kills more people and snatches the record again.

I think not. Hillary will not allow the gun issue to die, and Trump will not allow the terrorist immigration issue to die.

Re: Florida Gay Club PULSE has been attacked with injuries, and possible hostage situation.

I know the "men" of ISIL are cowards who beat women and children because they're so weak.

Muḥammad would laugh at ISIL and their beliefs.

Allah has decreed ISIL to be an "army" of the impotent.

You do realize that Mohammad in his Quran sanctioned wife beating and pretty much everything ISIS is doing Mohammad did as well.

What happen in Orlando is just more of we have had to endure, with number of mass killings from schools to shopping centers, movie theaters to military bases. The NRA reply if they been armed there would be less deaths.

Yes but I was trying to avoid Islam as a whole. All the organized religions are full of nuts.

I forgot the brownie mix at the grocery store. That was it. Damn. Too high now.

Fundamentalism is full of nuts. Need I remind everyone that the majority of Muslims aren't even Arab, don't live in the Middle East, and aren't shooting at anyone.

All three Abrahamic religions have the bloody hater passages in their scripture, the difference is that secularism in the west has stopped institutional religious terror.

Re: Florida Gay Club PULSE has been attacked with injuries, and possible hostage situation.

American liberals would not settle for ending AK 47s and machine guns.

What this case does prove, is that no screening is likely to end the threat.
Wow, such an elegant solution. The threat is ended with NO SCREENING, so just stop screening entirely.

[OK, I actually know what you were saying. I'm just having fun with English. The ambiguity of our language strikes again!]

Reminds me of the commercials that proclaim something like "NOTHING works better than RamaLama!" - so, instead of using RamaLama, use *NOTHING* - because it works better!

Here’s a hint of what the civilian AR-15 can do without modification:

I'm still wondering how he got that huge thing into a night club.

I seem to recall hearing that he fired a spray of bullets into a plate glass window and created an opening.

The NRA wouldn't settle on closing the gun show loophole. They say "liberals" will take their guns anyways. Might as well try.

In the meantime requiring a 'mass murder' insurance fee on all bullet transactions would be a good start. If the 'baggers threaten a revolution, bring it on....

You said guns are ineffective. If that's so, there's no reason the police should have them.

The killer didn't have a "military assault weapon", he had a modern sporting rifle. The SWAT team, on the other hand, had actual military weapons, body armor, and training.

And SWAT is supposed to be able to charge in -- that's the whole point of having SWAT. It's Special Weapons and Tactics -- and there are tactics for going in against an active shooter. Frak, you can learn those in an advanced NRA course, so why aren't the SWAT people applying training that is available to anyone with the bucks to take the course?

I saw someone call them "Simply Wimps, All the Time", since it seems that what SWAT teams in the U.S. do best is wait and put their own safety above that of the public. If they aren't willing to go in against an active shooter, they should get a different job and stop wasting the taxpayers' money.
