Michael Sam Discussion Thread [MERGED]

People can rationalize all they want. What's happening to Michael Sam screams of closet homophobia.

I've been there. I've been driven out of a job before. With my current company, I've been keeping my mouth shut while other guys talk about pussy and camel toes. Not even a hint of having a boyfriend. And I've made it to middle management. In the other company, I was somehow not qualified. Of course they denied it had anything to do with who I date.

Sorry you had to experience that sort of thing, but it happens more than we know. And even if we had protections under federal law (which we do not) it would still be difficult to prove that you didn't get a promotion because you suck cock meat. This shit really makes me angry. Homophobes have found a very subtle way of affecting your career because of their hate.

This is why I don't believe the myth that gays are somehow more wealthier than their single straight counterparts. We may have more disposible income because we lack little 4yr old shits running around the house, or a fat wife, but we are limited in many ways by heterosexual good ole boys who hates fags.

Re: Michael Sam Might get a chance in the NFL in Las Vegas

The Outlaws are definitely NOT an NFL team. Sorry to disappoint.

We now return to our regularly scheduled bitch fest.

Oops that sucks, oh well maybe Michael Sam should consider coming to Canada and go play in the CFL? I heard some American players who didn't make it in the NFL play in Canada. The CFL doesn't play millions BUT I think Sam could make some money playing up here. He should consider it.

Re: Michael Sam Might get a chance in the NFL in Las Vegas

Why, so you can bitch at Canada for being homophobic if he doesn't make the cut?

Since this is the proper thread. On the cover of my favorite magazine ever. Fuck the haters eternally.

This is good by GQ BUT ultimately what does it mean? Funny how a white publication has Michael Sam on the cover but you know he's never going to get the cover of black publications like Essence, Ebony ect. No way no how LOL! It just isn't going to happen. I think that's what is interesting to me, the black media have covered Michael Sam some what but not in a big capacity. Okay great Michael Sam got a cover of a popular publication BUT he is still not where he wants to be. And some people say this is all Michael Sam really wanted publicity and not taking his NFL career seriously. I think this is still bitter sweet. The NFL is in mid season now I think Sam's NFL career sadly might be over. I wonder, if Michael Sam had just stayed in the closet would he be on a 53 man roster right now? I wonder if Michael Sam is thinking the same thing? It is pathetic that a rookie has to be a hero YET high profile closeted gays like Aaron Rodgers a superbowl champion get to hide in plain sight about his homosexuality. It would be NICE if someone more high profile came out a champion. People still say on sports forums that Michael Sam was cut because he wasn't good enough. What does this say about gay men who want to get into the NFL now? It seems to me the only guys who SHOULD be coming out are the champions and the stars. If a star came out by being a champion it would refute the homophobia.

Re: 1st Openly Gay NFL player Michael Sam

He's kinda cute and seems to be a nice guy.

The lesson is don't come out until you get chosen on a team, get a good contract and play a few seasons so people know what your talents are in a game. For many people it is not a convincing argument that Sam was dumped because he came out because if his game was superb that argument would be obviously clear.

People come out when they want to come out. It was his choice and it's easy to say that. It's always easy to take the easy road but it takes a real person to go the hard route.

Re: Bisexual NFL Player Puts Michael Sam On Blast Says He Does Not Speak For Him

Interesting a bisexual NFL Star who is not out says Michael Sam does NOT speak for him. He explains why he will NOT tell the world his sexuality. Link: http://www.tmz.com/2015/03/30/bisexual-nfl-player-michael-sam-gay-coming-out/

From the link:
Despite those opinions, the player says he believes Sam DID get a fair shot to make a team -- "I just don't think he performed well."

Clever.

Re: Bisexual NFL Player Puts Michael Sam On Blast Says He Does Not Speak For Him

From the article:
. . .
The player -- who didn't want to be identified by name -- has played in the league for several seasons and says he's open about his sexuality with close friends.
. . . .

Why should anyone believe that this person even exists?

TMZ doesn't even acknowledged an author/interviewer – it just says 'by TMZ staff'.

Junk.

Wishful thinking from plenty of JUBbers will probably point to it being Colt McCoy or Tim Tebow.
