I'd like to share my weight-loss story so far, because this thread has certainly helped me keep motivated (especially during the beginning).

I have never been really slim, but since well over two years ago, for reasons I don't want to publically get into, I have been on a freefall in regards to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I've gained a lot weight up to a point where I weighted about 235 pounds. It took me a while, but I now am starting get my life back on track.

On February 4, I started tackling a my weight issue. Before that date, I had really unhealthy eating habits where I would often skip breakfast, had only a so-so lunch and ate some three or so plates of diner to silence my hungry feeling at the end of the day. In addition, I drank quite a lot of soda drinks in the evening, but not much too drink during the day.

For the last 9.5 weeks, I've managed to drastically change that. I now always have a decent breakfast and luch, and I eat a normal portion during dinner. In addition, I eat one or two healthy snacks inbetween, like a banana or a small portion of yoghurt. Instead of soda drinks, I now drink plenty of water and tea spread over the day. I'm really proud of myself that since I started I've managed to keep up with this, and I am confident that I've been through the worst part of adjusting by now. And, since I started 9.5 weeks ago, I lost almost 9 kg (20 pounds) of weight without any added exercise. This is just the result from a change of eating habits. :D

I'm getting more and more the urge to actually start working out. I'm rather self-concious when it comes to my appearance, so it's a threshold that I'm still mentally preparing for to take, but I'm confident I will in the near future.

Anyway, I just wanted to share this and say thanks. I might have been a lurker in this thread but it is encouraging to read all these success stories. :-) I've still got a long way to go, but eventually, I'll get there.

I need motivation to gain weight. #-o

Everytime I gain a little bit of weight, it seems like it all goes to my belly area. So I panic, do some crunches to keep it from turning into a beer belly.

Keep up the good positive thinking and the day you'll truly feel proud of yourself will come so quickly you will not even notice it.

What you did is excellent, by keeping new new healthier eating habit you can lose weight and keep those weights off.

Do not screams and panic then go crashing on a diet that you cannot keep a habit of and gain all the weights back.

Start out small, like what you did. Now you still need to snack in between, but in a short time you will find out that you not need to snack at all.

Not only that, you will then notice that you do not need to finish up your plate to be full.

To keep yourself motivated to exercise, you must have a picture to remind you to. A great looking, muscular man on my desktop does it for me.

Next, is a reminder. I usually put something along the line of "Did you workout today?" or "Workout first!" on my desktop because as soon as I see that, I know I shouldn't waste my time on the internet when I can burn some fat doing other things. :D

Continue on your wonderful plan, and I hope to hear from you again with wonderful results!:=D:

I do not know how to deal with the skin between your thighs, but I am sure over time it will go away on its own when you lose the weights. I had the same thing to, and now it goes away slowly to the point it is not quite too noticeable.

You don't have to run! There is plenty of other exercise for you to do that does not involve running. Drink lots of water so you do not dehydrate and always take your time doing deep breathing (meditatingly) before and after working out to increase your breathing capacity and regulate your breaths.

Gaining weight does not mean intaking fat. The reason it goes to your stomach area is because the stomach stores more fat than the rest of your body. Start eating more protein, and good carbs ( do a search to see what are good carbs and whats not) and consider lifting weight. Lifting weight can tone a body but also builds muscles if you looking to gain more weights. Ofcourse, eat a lot of protein and exercise and you will gain more weights and look tremendously amazing!

P.S. There is nothing wrong with doing crunches to keep your stomach flat and abs tight! That is all there is when a person wanted to be skinnier!

err... one more problem.... its regarding the penis... well... i am quite embarrassed to tell that when i am not hard, my penis length is 2 inch ONLY and when its hard, it kinda grow to 4 inch... so.. when i lose my weight, will my penis grow longer... this is one of the reason why i am still a virgin...:(!oops!

uummm it wont 'grow' but it may appear larger since you would be slimmer.

(and 4 - 5 inch is now considered to be the average erect size)

Hey guys, I dunno if anyone really remembers but I posted in this thread some time ago saying I was going to get into working out get my health somewhere.

Well I've been doing just that, been going at it for about a couple of months and I've shed just under 20 lbs. Started at 244 and got down to 225! I've also gained a lot of muscle and strength even in this amount of time. I've actually started to enjoy looking at myself in the mirror, notice veins I never knew existed before. Hah. Finally in the mood where I look forward to working out.

I'm in it for the long haul though. My goal is 190 lbs, but at 15% body fat. So I have a ways to go. I'll probably aim for my body fat goal first and then the 190 goal.

<3 Keep up the good work guys.

Frankly, I don't exactly want to lose weight, but I want to become more muscular.

Here's what I do:

I pick guys from the net who I think look the way I would like to look.

I tell myself: Alright, with some (or lots of) working out, this is what you're going to look like! :-)

Ever tried that?

I'm going to try that actually. I've heard that it works, to psychologically motivate you to do better... Hmm...

So yeah. Posted here WAY back on pages 1 and 2, then stopped. So here's a much needed update:

Current Weight: 177.4 lbs
BMI: 23.1
Body Fat Percentage: 9 to 11%

My Goals:
  • To get rid of the ab flab! Seriously! I like how most of my body is now, except for my stomach and my thighs! So, I'll be doing more cardio, and for longer periods of time.
  • I was told today that I have bony shoulders... So, I'm going to try and bulk up my body a little. Not too much, just a little so as to get some meat on these bones lol
  • Get more sleep. Right now, I only get about 6 hours of sleep. I want to get that up to 8, which will happen, seeing as my last exam is tomorrow :)
  • Healthier diet. More fruits, vegetables, and whole grains & less fats, dairy, and meat. I've already cut out deli meats, and most of the red meat. Just have to make more of an effort to get my protein somewhere else...
I think that's all...

sounds like a plan. The bony shoulders... kind of hard to get rid of in that parts of the bones don't have muscles over them. The extra sleep is awesome imo!!

Ok for some reason, my knee is slightly fucked up. I'm going to try to stick with low-impact exercises, such as the elliptical, and stair master, but are there any other cardio exercises that are low impact?

well i have a friend who over the years seems to eat the same as i do but as i can laze aroud all day just as he dose for some reason i only gain a few punds a year, but he isgaining like 30 a year, any ways to help him not gain and anything to help him lose weight. he said he is about 230 lbs how can he lose around 50 lbs ? safely btw...

I got a physical the other day, and thought i was gonna die ...
I went to the chiropractor, and also thought i was gonna die...

I just got weighted, and am now at a weight of 270lbs.
I need to lose weight. I need help I am so unmotivated to work out, and i don't even know what to do in the gym.

My chiropractor gave me a goal of losing 30lbs. by December

anyone wanna help me. ...

Thanks

>>>I need to lose weight. I need help I am so unmotivated to work out, and i don't even know what to do in the gym.

I wouldn't start out by going to the gym just yet. Instead, start small. Make some small changes. Little things can really build up.

Everything you eat - no matter how much you love it - throw away the last bite. Throw away the last bite of that donut, the last bit of hamburger, the last spoonful of ice cream. Consider it your "offer for the diet gods". :) Just by doing that, you've cut your food intake about 5%. Not bad, huh? :)

Look for simple but smart "food choices". If you're used to eating whatever you want, it'll be tough to suddenly go straight into a strict diet of nothing but salad and water. So just make some more judicious choices. Don't have mayo - have mustard. Don't have fries on the side - get a side salad. Don't use creamy or oily sauces and dressings - use salt and pepper. Drink a sip of water between every two bites of food. Simple things like this can get you on the right track.

Get used to doing some exercise every day. Nothing huge or fancy. Maybe when you get home from work or school, walk around the block at a decent clip. When that gets too easy (and it will), start jogging the last fifty feet. Once you can do that, make it the last hundred.

Look for "opportunities" for short bits of exercise. If you need to get to the second floor, take the steps. If the place you're going isn't far, walk it. Take the batteries out of your remote, and stand up and change channels by hand.

Once you've gotten used to doing a bit of exercise, and you feel you're on track, you might look into joining a gym.

Good luck!

Closing in on three months of doing WiiFit.

When I started, just doing the "short run" at a jogging pace wore me out. Now I can do a 5K.

When I started, I couldn't hold the "plank" for ten seconds. Now, on a good day, I can do over a hundred seconds.

When I started, ten minutes of aerobic exercise was more than enough. Now I'm up to at least forty per day.

Weight lost so far - 17 lbs. Went shopping for jeans last weekend, and I've dropped one size. So far so good. :)
